NZ Vlog #2: Exploring Matamata & Rotorua
Aloha everyone!
So we finally left Auckland to finally get out to the country side. We started in Matamata, which is mostly famous for being the place where The Hobbit was recorded. Neither me nor Tiffany have ever seen the Hobbit.. XD
We then continued to Rotorua, which is famous for having a very bad smell immediately when you get out of the vehicle you came in. And indeed it did.. It's because of all the geysers they have there.
After this we went with the night bus to Wellington, so that's where my next vlog is going to continue.
Thanx for watching everyone!

Elephant Rock - Living a Kiwi Life - Ep. 27
The only wild elephant in New Zealand, Elephant Rock is a monstrous elephant shaped rock in the Taranaki region. This spot is only accessible at low tide and is also home to 'The Three Sisters' rock formations. We went expecting to see the elephant and leave but ended up wanting to spend the whole day there exploring the incredible caves filled with tidal pools and taking in the beautiful colors of the cliff face! This spot is magical!

Fat Bike fun riding the Northern Loop - Queen Elizabeth Park, Kapiti Coast NZ
Fat Bike fun riding the Northern Loop - Queen Elizabeth Park, Kapiti Coast NZ
With the New Zealand Winter well and truly settling, finding time to hit the trails are few and far between. Thankfully there was a gap in the weather for one afternoon ride last weekend and I seized the opportunity to finish off the Northern Coastal track at Queen Elizabeth Park.
The Northern Loop follows the coastal track to Raumati then comes back via Te Ara o Whareroa (the inland link track) back to Queen Elizabeth Park. However, on this occasion, I took advantage of the fat bike and looped back via the beach.
Like the Southern Loop, its Northern companion is a multi-purpose track which is well used by dog walkers, runners and other cyclists. Although today kept all but the very keen indoors.
A fun trail best done as one super loop (North and South) and a good one to do with company. If you visit on a fine day, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of both Kapiti and the South Island and you always have the beach option back if the weather and tides permit. Had a blast and will be back in the future once the weather clears up! ❤????

Tarawera Trail Hot Water Beach - Living a Kiwi Life - Ep. 24
The Tarawera trail was opened in late 2013 which is a beautiful 4-5 hour trail to a Hot Water Beach outside Rotorua, New Zealand. Previously only accessible by boat there is a campsite at the beach. This place was amazingly fun but nature doesn't mess around, the water is HOT!!! I got mild burns on my neck from trying to swim around the shoreline, the hottest water tends to float at the surface of the lake! If you're keen there is also a hot pool in the jungle a 5 minute detour off the main track. It's not officially marked which made it more fun to find! :)
