Willard Intercontinental in Washington DC - Willard Room Tour
This is a travel aid video of a Willard Room at the Willard Intercontinental, which is not to be confused with the Willard Suite which is bigger. The mint julep at the Round Robin Bar inside the hotel might be the best mint julep I've ever had. This video is from January 2018.

Grand Hyatt Washington DC
Review of my hotel room at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, December, 2019. There’s been some changes since my last stay in 2013. The hotel property has a Starbucks and its own restaurants which additionally provide room service. There are lots of options in the immediate area. Fun museums too! If you stay here, visit the concierge desk for a handy map that was designed for this property. Update: I went to the buffet. It was about the same price as room service but cheaper if you charge it to your room. Carlos waited on my table. He and all of the restaurant employees were outstanding. The employees are the best part of this hotel. Manning8channel@gmail.com.

The Willard Hotel is where the term lobbyist was coined. Those seeking favors from the president waited for his arrival in the Willard Lobby to talk to him.

WRAP Tyson takes first step toward license in Washington
(19 Feb 2002)
Washington DC, 19 Feb 2002
1. Wide shot media members gather around news conference location
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Michael Brown, Washington DC Boxing and Wrestling Commissioner
We are obviously pleased to announce today that we have taken the initial step forward to licensing Mike Tyson to box in the District of Columbia. There are several steps that need to transpire before he actually gets his piece of paper, his actual license before he is able to box here, but there are a lot of things that need to be done. Then Lennox Lewis needs to apply and be approved and then gets his license. A lot of the promoters the managers, a lot of people, a lot of things have to get done before we actually have everything tied up in a pretty little bow.
3. Cutaway reporters take notes and listen
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Michael Brown, Washington DC Boxing Commissioner
I'm sure there are going to be a lot of groups coming out in support of this. For example I've talked to some restaurant owners that have already been pleased about this, hotel owners. So just as you have some people that are going to criticise it, we have many people who are going to support it.
5. Various of protesters
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Terry O'Neill, National Organisation for Women
Mike Tyson has an appalling history of violence against women. He is a convicted rapist. He's got two accusations of rape outstanding against him now. One of them we understand the authorities are planning to move on. This is not the man who should be hailed out as a role model for the boys and girls of the District and this is not the man that the District needs to turn to to solve its economic problems.
7. Wide shot media and protesters await DC officials arrival
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Terry O'Neill, National Organisation for Women
We want the mayor of DC to come firmly in favour of ending violence against women and we don't think that lionizing a man with his history of violence against women is the way to end violence.
Las Vegas - Recent
9. Medium shot brawl on press conference stage
10. Various of MCI Center (venue where fight would take place)
STORYLINE:
After being turned away by Las Vegas, boxer Mike Tyson has moved a step closer to receiving a boxing license in Washington D-C, setting the stage for a possible bout against Lennox Lewis in June.
The District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission held a news conference on Tuesday after voting 3-0 to move forward with the license.
A public hearing will be held March 12, followed by a final vote.
The news conference drew protests from about a dozen members of the National Organisation for Women.
Tyson has been looking for a boxing body - in the United States or abroad - that will allow him to fight W-B-C-I-B-F heavyweight champion Lewis.
The bout was originally scheduled for April 6 in Las Vegas, but Nevada officials denied Tyson a license after a melee at a news conference there.
Tyson's past also includes a three-year prison sentence for rape, a one-year sentence for a road rage assault and a one-year boxing suspension for biting Evander Holyfield's ear during a fight.
Nevada police are investigating two sexual assault complaints against Tyson, although no charges have been filed.
With Nevada out of the picture, Tyson's supporters have searched the world for potential venues.
California, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, England, Denmark and the Netherlands are some of the sites that have been floated.
Georgia fell out of the running when Governor Roy Barnes referred to Tyson as a sexual predator.
Washington D-C Mayor Anthony Williams says he won't object to Tyson fighting in the district, citing economic advantages.

The Jenny Lind Suite - The Willard InterContinental
The most intimate space in The Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, DC, the Jenny Lind Suite, named after a popular Swedish opera singer, is secreted away in the hotel's attic. Evocative of a French garret, the suite is a favorite spot for honeymoons. The outstanding aspects of the suite include a large reception / sitting area, a wrought-iron canopy bed, and a huge bathroom with a sunken jacuzzi bathtub overlooking the Washington Monument.
