Indian Street Food Mouth Freshener: Sweet Paan + Masala Soda making at Prince Paan Parlour Leicester
✓ Paan has been eaten in India from the ancient Vedic times. Paan and Pan Walla's are ubiquitous in the Indian Sub-continent and can be found on nearly every street corner in India.
According to Ayurvedic science, betel leaf or paan can be useful in the curing of ailments such as a cough, cold and headaches. It is also said that eating paan freshens the breath and increases passion........if you know what I mean;-)
It is chewed for its stimulant and psychoactive effects, It can act as a digestiv (aiding digestion), can freshen your mouth and it will highly likely refresh you after a heavy meal.
The actual Paan itself consists of a betel leaf wrapped in a triangular or roll shape with a mixture of spices, mukhwas, dried fruits, and sugar.
On this visit I had a sweet Pan choosing specific filling from the following fillings recipe options selection:
* Betal Nut Leaves (Kolkata / Calcutta Paan)
* Dry Amli Leaf (Katha Pandra) adds a sour taste
* Dried & coloured Dates (Kharek)
* Sali Supari (Sweetened finely chopped Areca Nut)
* Mukwas
* Split roasted Coriander Seeds (Dhana Dal)
* Fennel Seeds (Variari / Saunf)
* Tutti Frutti (Dried Papaya)
* Desiccated Coconut
* Glace Cherry
* 2.54 ??????
* Chocolate Sauce
* Various Syrups & Chutneys specific (to the type of being prepared)
* Pratik (a blend of fennel seeds, sesame seeds, rose petals and other compounds that help in mouth freshening)
* Gooseberry Powder
* Gulkand (Infused Syrup made using Indian Rose Petals)
* Meenakshi Chatni(key ingredients are Saffron, Silver Leaves, Sugar, Menthol).
* Menthol (has a cooling effect)
* Various preparations of Supari (Areca Nut) (i.e. finely cut, roasted, sweet etc...)
* AVIOD USING OR ADDING ANY FORM OF TOBACCO (but be warned that if this ingredient is added then it is injurious & detrimental and not good for health and can also be addictive)

If you have any questions you can phone them on: 07460 000 190 or 07424 652 396
A special thank you to Harjinder Kumar who welcomed me and graciously allowed me a privileged glimpse and insight behind the scenes to do the videoing.
This is one of Leicester's Golden Mile's Secret Desi places (the Golden Mile stretches from Belgrave Road all the way up to Melton Road) call it Leicester's little India if you wish.
This is another video from our recent week long foodie motivated visit we made to Leicester (in Oct 2018) especially to record some of the most famous and popular food places there (some established many decades ago when East African Asians arrived in the UK having fled the Idi Amin regime) some of the East Africa Asians settled in the streets in and around the Belgrave road and Melton Road area (a stretch of road affectionately known as the Golden Mile).
Most if not all of the restaurants and shops here are very homely and welcoming and it does not feel like you are eating in an unfamiliar café or restaurant but more like eating at a friend or relatives place.
As this is a Paan video you may be interested in watching a video that I recorded in India last year where a regular paan is prepared and then it is set alight by the Paan Wallah to be eaten straight away, here's the link to that video: (which is titled: WOW!!! FIRE PAAN!!! Amazing Indian Street Food Mouth Freshener, Natraj Market, Station Road, Mumbai.)

BRITISH ROYAL TRAIN - WikiVidi Documentary
In the United Kingdom, the Royal Train is used to convey senior members of the British Royal Family and associated staff of the Royal Household around the railway network of Great Britain. It is currently operated by the German rail haulage firm DB Cargo UK, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn. The Royal Train is formed from a dedicated set of claret liveried sleeper, dining and lounge carriages. The current rolling stock dates from 1977-1987. They are arranged according to requirements, and stored when not in use. The earliest royal coaches date back to the mid-19th century in the reign of Queen Victoria; until an upgrade in 1977 there were multiple sets based in different regions, a legacy of the pre-nationalisation era of railways in Britain. Many are now in museums or on heritage railways; the National Railway Museum in York has a royal themed exhibition. Dedicated locomotives have never traditionally been part of the Royal Train, first appearing in special livery only in the 1990s,, bu...
