World Stage Design (Cardiff Wales)
WATCH IN 720 HD - CLICK SETTINGS WHEEL BELOW RIGHT
World Stage Design 2013 was held in Cardiff at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Set beside Bute Park it occupied both the main building and the Anthony Hopkins Centre where the Julies Bicycle lecture took place inside the Willow Theatre. A good example of sustainable design in actual use see the time-lapse build of this bespoke space for the the event here:
With Tanja Beer and Donyale Werle, two pioneering members of the stage design and arts world speaking, we settled down inside the Willow Theatre to an interesting couple of hours in the Anthony Hopkins Center. Covering subjects from materials to the use of energy it was made clear that events production is being transformed around the world.
Prior to the lecture we enjoyed stage design exhibits from the likes of Leslie Traverse, Hildegard Bechtler, Dorita Hannah and Jan Strobbe to name a few.
Post the lecture it was a magnetic draw towards Bute Park where the Transplantable Living Room awaited the curious. Along the way Tanja Beer and Donyale Werle offered a static piece of human sculpture that appeared like gossima threads expanding outward eventually touching and immersing itself with all living matter. The video demonstrates it clearly.
Our clean and well run hostel for the night was the Nomad on the East side of Cardiff city center. An international affair we also met Telegram the support act for the Manic Street Preachers who were playing the Newport Center the following night.A wonderful bunch of guys the Cardiff visit and or festival was finished off with a complete walk around Cardiff bay at night - a distance of about 6-7 miles. Another good time in the capital of Wales....

#TrainWorkLive @MedicsNWales
‘#TrainWorkLive @MedicsNWales’ is a short video by Old Colwyn GP, Dylan Parry, aimed at providing a brief snapshot of his ‘train, work, live’ experience in North Wales. For more about Dylan's portrayal of his life as a General Practitioner in the Welsh NHS, please visit his Twitter blog: (particularly the #Abergele ( photos of Abergele area ) #medicsnorthwales, #PrudentPrescribing ( tweets about prudent prescribing element of Prudent Healthcare ) and #TrainWorkLive (tweets about what it's like to train, work and live as a GP in North Wales) hashtags, his Facebook page: and his YouTube channel:
Dylan is a GP partner at Cadwgan Surgery, works as a Wales Deanery GP Educational Supervisor and Trainer on the Dyffryn Clwyd Vocational Training Scheme, was awarded RCGP Fellowship in 2013, has participated in, and provided advice and support as part of the medical team for the endurance challenges organised by the Cerddwn Ymlaen charitable campaign - and is a big fan of cycling and Liverpool Football Club. His LinkedIn profile can be found here: . He hopes that this video will help interested school children and medical students ' Think GP ' and choose a career in General Practice, and post-MRCGP GP trainees to apply for posts in Wales; and that it convinces them that there's nothing to fear about such a career choice, and that family medicine thrives. For those unfamiliar with healthcare in the UK, the Welsh Assembly Government has had a devolved responsibility for NHS Wales since 1999, and has a healthy and exciting future with no junior doctors contract dispute. BCUHB, which stands for Betsi Cadwaladr University Healthboard, is responsible for healthcare provision in North Wales. Those interested in any kind of medical career in North Wales are encouraged to contact BCUHB or Medics North Wales: @MedicsNWales (Twitter). The Medics NWales YouTube channel can be found at: .
Please visit the NHS Wales & Wales Deanery's 'This is Wales' Train.Work.Live. campaign website, to discover more about a medical career in Wales, by clicking on the link below:
Dylan is a nominal Champion for NHS Wales and part of the Champions Network. Dylan is a keen advocate of GP engagement with local schools and is working to promote this.

(unofficial) Glutz - Theatre Design Students - Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama perform .....
.......with the puppets they made. This piece of puppet theatre, 'Glutz', was first performed in Prague (at the Prague Fringe Festival - 2019). These talented makers were thrust into the spotlight to perform with their unique pieces of art.
On a hot Saturday afternoon in Cardiff (within the Anthony Hopkins Centre Courtyard) the crowd were transported to the hidden parts of historic Prague. Join an eccentric tour guide as she brings Prague 'alive'.
Please note - this is not the complete performance (sections of the performance were not captured) but gives an overall impression of the supreme efforts of this talented group of young makers/performers.
Watch the 'future of British Theatre Design' (supported by theatre professionals - their lecturers) create wonderful imaginary and a feast for all the senses. The vast majority of these students are in their first year of study. Imagine how good they will be in their third year!
