Lt Col Melvin Bruintjies on the SA Airforce Museum Airshow 2018
We are coming to you live from the Swartkop Military Base here in Pretoria. So why am I here, for the past few years we've had a SANDF Airforce Helicopter race the Gautrain.
Sometimes the Gautrain wins and sometimes the helicopter.
This is a fun race for a lead up to the SA Airforce Museum Airshow which takes place here at Swartkop on 5 May. Which is this Saturday.
To tell us more, I'm joined by Lieutenant Colonel Melvin Bruintjies who is the Commanding Officer for the Museum.

The South African Air Force Museum will be hosting the first air show of the year in Pretoria, just few months before AFB Waterkloof airshow. It will be held at Swartkop Airfield alongside Old Johannesburg road in Valhalla, Pretoria, on 21 May 2011 from 09h30 to 18h00.

Aerobatic displays of aircraft such as the Gripen and the Rooivalk filled the skies above the Swartkop Airforce base in Pretoria on Saturday. A record number of enthusiasts flocked to the event hosted by the South African Air Force Museum.

A visit to the South African Military Museum in Johannesburg
I've been meaning to make a video about the South African military museum in Johannesburg for some time. Unfortunately when I got there was a strict policy of no photographs in the main hall which limited my filming opportunities to the outside areas.
It's a fun morning out and I'm sure if I hadn't have been with my son I would have been able to spend more time looking at all of the exhibits.
It is a very dated museum and compares badly to the Imperial war museum in London. It's worth a visit if you are nearby but I wouldn't travel a long way to come.
