Sacred Sites of Ireland Virtual Tour - Part 1
On St. Patrick's Day this year, Ahonu & Aingeal Rose were invited to make a presentation to the Spiritual Awareness Community (SAC) of the Cascades in Bend, Oregon. The presentation was entitled The Sacred Sites of Ireland and took the form of a video tour of Ireland's most sacred places. Ahonu and Aingeal Rose narrated their personal experiences of each sacred place along with some history and the sites significance.
Attendees had the virtual experience of the megalithic sites of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth - each 2,000 older than the pyramids of Egypt! They visited Glendalough in the Garden of Ireland, and the famous Hill of Tara and Uisneach where the kings of old were crowned. They saw holy wells and ancient hills that still carry the original mystical and healing energies.
Along with that, Aingeal Rose and Ahonu offered a sample of the sacred waters from St. Brigid's and St. Patricks burial sites. These waters, available from are known to possess powerful transformative properties. Prepare yourself for a highly engaging and informative experience! Come Home to Ireland - A Gathering in Thin Places - Mystical and Sacred Sites
I'm Mindie Burgoyne and I'd like to invite you to come on our tour Ireland tour of Thin Places this year. Thin Places are places where the veil between this world and the eternal world is thin. And people in Ireland have been marking these places with stones and tombs and high crosses for centuries.
And people from all over the world come back now and return to these thin places and leave things behind. This September (2013) we'll be traveling in the North and we'll spend 10 days visiting 25 sites located in nine different counties.
Our nights are spent in vibrant towns like Belfast. We also spend evenings in Donegal and Derry and Enniskillen. This is so our guests can soak up the culture, shop and meet some of the friendliest people in the world.
To get really close to the culture, we hire a few private guides throughout the tour. These guys are local to the area. They know the history, the culture and the traditions and they offer an authentic feel to the tour.
The Thin Places tour is a spiritual tour meant to help you find doorways, portals and connections to the eternal world. The guests that go on our tours get a little closer to themselves ... closer to their ancestors. And they make lifelong friends.
In this year of the Gathering, we invite you to come home to Ireland with us on our Thin Places tour.

Irish Jewish Museum Dublin
This small museum provides a host of information on the history of the Jewish community in Ireland. It houses a large range of exhibits that provide a keen insight into the life of Irish Jews.
The museum is situated in Walworth Street near Dublin's South Circular Road. This area was once home to a sizeable Jewish population, and the old Walworth Road Synagogue that served their religious needs has been preserved within the upper floor of the museum.
You can find more information about the museum on the Irish Jewish website,

Holy Wells of Dublin
Holy Wells began life as sacred pagan sites, and were gradually assimilated into the early Celtic Christian in an effort to convert the native masses. Many have seen the rise and fall of Catholicism and some now see pagan visitations once again. There are approximately 100 surviving ancient and holy wells in County Dublin, including natural springs, elaborate stone monuments, sea caves and hidden sites in tunnels under the Dublin streets.
This lecture will document the remaining wells in the landscape, with many beautiful photographs of each and its surroundings, detailed brief history and legends attached, and give precise locations and directions, allowing people to start visiting these ancient places of both religious and archaeological interest again.
This is a recording of a lecture held in County Library Tallaght in December 2014

Rock of Cashel, Ireland's Sacred Ruins
One of the main places you'll want to see when visiting Ireland is the Rock of Cashel, Ireland's most important medieval site.
From a distance it is a most unexpected and wonderful pile rising on three hundred feet of rock in the middle of an immense flat empty plain, like some gigantic magic palace, suspended in air.
The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. A unique, historic cathedral, castle, and round tower.
At your feet lies the Vale of Tipperary, an expanse of greenest green stretching unbroken over some of the fairest and most fertile land in Ireland. There is no other historic place of its kind in Ireland situated quite like it, overlooking as good a landscape as the human eye can gaze upon.
From the fourth century to the 12th century it was the residence of the kings of Munster, which was the southern half of Ireland.
Cashel's historical importance dates much further back than the foundation of its Cathedral. Long before the church came to Cashel the pagans held their barbarous rites and ceremonies on this rock. In the middle of the fifth century, St. Patrick arrived there in the course of his extraordinary mission through Ireland. It is said that St. Patrick, converted and baptized King Angus and founded the first Irish Christian church on the Rock of Cashel.
The cathedral walls still stand and form the center of this group of celebrated ruins, which are unparalleled in Ireland for picturesque beauty and antiquarian interest, a noble remnant of early pointed Gothic, with many fascinating relics.

5. Kyteler’s Inn
Ireland isn’t just home to ghosts but also witches! Don’t forget! This witch house is located in Kilkenny Ireland. A woman by the name of Alice Kyteler was born into a wealthy family in Ireland and was set to inherit even more riches from her husband eventually. She opened up this Inn, which is now an irish pub, made from stone as one of her investments. Life was happy for the most part, until her husband was found to be severely ill. Her family in law had accused her for for his illness claiming she used potions and spells to make him that way. She was brought to trial and was sent to see a bishop, but her family arrested him before he could do so. They hoped this would persuade him to forget about the incident but the bishop was just angered by this. He convicted her of sorcery and witchcraft and sent Alice to burn at the stake. This is Ireland’s first witch trial ever. Some believe she actually escape and hire someone to kidnap a woman who looked like her. The house she built is still celebrated in all its evil glory.
4. Rock of Cashel
It’s really hard to imagine a castle like this in Ireland not being haunted and the legends behind this place will certainly not disappoint paranormal enthusiasts. Located in the history medieval town of Tipperary, Ireland, this was reportedly near the site where St. Patrick banished Satan from a cave. Satan was so angry that his bit out a chunk of the mountainside, leaving a gap in the landscape. One of his teeth fell out and formed the hillside, where this castle is built. This well preserved castle was one of the tallest of its kind at 150 feet tall, when it was built in the 12th century. In the 17th century, the castle was set ablaze killing 800 citizens inside The castle is also located next to a huge cemetery, which is also most likely haunted, and houses the remains of soldiers from the bloody Irish Civil war. Many irish revolutionaries were from Tipperary Brigade, who fought hard for Irish independence.
3. Grace Neill’s Pub
This seems to be the perfect place to enjoy ireland’s two biggest pastimes, guinness beer and ghosts! This is one of Ireland’s Oldest functioning pubs and it’s located in the town of Donaghadee in County Down. Grace Neill’s Pub opened it’s doors in 1611 and was originally known as the King’s Arms until she obtained ownership. But just because she passed away in 1918 doesn’t mean she’s stopped working here. Many believe that this woman was so dedicated to her work that she can open be spotted doing things like filling up people’s glasses more guiness, turning the lights off and moving furniture around late in the evening. Come have a pint, if you dare!
2. Kilmainham Jail
Located in the capital of Ireland, Dublin, this is a place you really don’t want to stay the night! It’s the largest unoccupied jailhouse in Ireland today. It was in operation from 1787 to 1924 and children as young as 7 years old here served time. During Ireland’s potato famine, many would intentionally break the law, hoping to come here and get a meal. It’s most notorious due to the fact that 14 Irish leaders was executed behind the jail walls by firing squad, gaining martyr like reputation in the process. Many pro independence fighters were kept here and maybe they still are. Unexplainable paranormal events continued happening when a crew was sent to restore the historical building. .
1.The Leap Castle
Often referred to as the most haunted castle in Ireland, the reason why it’s so haunted seems to be rather clear. This is found in Coolderry County about four miles north of Roscrea. This was built by the O'Carroll clan in the 13th century to claim the fertile land around it. Many disputes began to take place in 1532 within the clan about who was to become leader after their main chieftain had passed away. The dispute came to a bloody end and was solved in a gruesome fashion. A few members of the clan planned an all out ambush, during a supposed peace gathering and it’s said that one of them even took the life of his own brother. Today, people have claimed to feel the presence of pure evilness, especially in the place where the massacre took place, known as the “the Bloody Chapel”. Cartloads of human bones were also removed from here a while ago from the dungeon and even reports of a red ghost. The list goes on, and this is clearly one of the most haunted places on the mysterious Emerald Island
