Sailing a classic yawl in late Autumn
Watch Thomas and friend Rupert sail Frenesi of Clynder. Read Thomas' articles for Classic Boat by searching for Frenesi of Clynder in your internet browser. The articles were published in 2007: CB225/March '07 Head or heart about buying your first classic boat; CB226/April '07 Emotional Journey about the first year of ownership.
Frenesi of Clynder is a James McGruer designed yawl, built to Lloyds 100A1 at the famous McGruer & Co yard in 1961. She was displayed at that year's London Boat Show at Earls Court, where she won boat of the show.
She is a cruiser-racer from that period; the hull is teak below the waterline and mahogany above, and the interior is mostly mahogany. Having only had two long term owners before the current owner in the last 30 years, she's been beautifully maintained and constantly updated, accounting for her current condition.
In this video, the owner Thomas and friend Rupert are sailing her from Poole Harbour in Dorset (on the South Coast of England) to Lowestoft in Suffolk (England's East Coast) in late October 2007.

Sailing from Falmouth UK to Bayona, Spain
Our voyage across Biscay in June 2004 on board Csardas, a Hanse 371. We had an amazing trip, completing it in 3.5 days. Great memories, and a range of conditions from a hard and uncomfortable beat across the channel to a wonderful beam reach, then running under spinnaker for a full day and then 35 knots of wind on the quarter and steep seas on the final full day.
Pilot Cutter Review 2018
We were very lucky be part of the crew on Unity for an amazing weekend at this year's Pilot Cutter Review organised by Classic Sailing (
Unity came in 3rd in the over all ranking and was built and skippered by Jon Bray
(
We raced against this year's over all winner Agnes (built by Luke Powell (Working Sail Ltd)), Jolie Brise, Pilot Cutter Amelie Rose, Poly Agatha (Bowsprit Sailing Ltd) and the original Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Marguerite
A major part of Unity's crew were boat builders who are currently working on the Falmouth Pilot Cutter Pellew, a project to keep maritime heritage alive, which is led by Luke Powell.
