Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Occitanie, France | Day 2 - Anse de Paulilles, Banyuls-sur-Mer
Explore the beauty of Mediterranean coast hiking with us! Discover the variety of landscapes and scenic beaches, its flora and fauna, historical places and small villages. These video series is devoted to the Catalonian part of it, starting from the French village Argelès-sur-Mer in Pyrénées-Orientales all the way to the Spanish village of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus cape on the Costa Brava. Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation! Or even dare to do this hike yourself!
After an exhausting first day we slept very well and we woke up at a sunrise to an incredibly beautiful scenery of the little bay, swaying yacht and calm sea waters. The atmosphere was very peaceful. And in these moments you realize that nothing can compare with the wild camping spots, they are always special and memorable. That day we took it slow and with no hurry we had the substantial breakfast(luckily we had the leftover veggies from yesterday), got everything packed and finally started walking. Our plan for the day was to make no more than 7 km until our camping site in Banyuls-sur-Mer. First we walked along several beaches at the seaside, passed through some bunkers left from the World War II and got to the place Anse de Paulilles. It looked like a public park but actually in the past this territory occupied an old dynamite factory that now is open for the visitors as well as the museum of traditional Catalan boats. Overall the whole area around the French-Spanish border has a lot of installations left from the World War II, that is part of the history but kind of sad to see in these beautiful places. After we came out of the park the path continued going along the flowery cliffs and we got to see lots of stunning views, so we enjoyed this part a lot. Finally we were getting close to the city Banyuls-sur-Mer and we were rushing to find some supermarkets open to buy some food, that unfortunately were closed after 14pm because it was Sunday. So keep that in mind that Sundays in most of the area are short days in the majority of the shops. Then we got to our camping site Camping municipal La Pine and found a nice cosy place to camp. This camping is situated at the outskirts of the city and part of it is in the real forest areas(with no electricity though and available only for tents), which we liked a lot, we could hear the birds singing and all the forest sounds. Fortunately we were able to buy some food at the only shop that was opened in the evening. The rest of the day we were chilling out, eating and relaxing. So we had a really good rest and the new day was waiting for us...

We are a couple who once fell in love with mountains and couldn't get back. So we decided to follow our heart and move from a big city to a small village to be able to do what we love and to create this content. We offer the detailed information of our hikes and routes, including the map and all the directions, so that you can repeat it if you'd like to.
We choose walking over driving and other types of transportation whenever we can because we learnt that this way we see so much more and can explore and feel the place better. Walking is an excellent activity that has so many benefits to your health and requires no special equipment or practice, so we encourage you to get the most out of it and get out walking.

Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Costa Brava, Spain | Day 4 - Cerbère, Portbou, Colera
The night was extremely windy with the wind fiercely blowing up our tent so it was quite disturbing to our sleep. The Camping Municipal de Cerbere where we stayed was situated right at the edge of the cliff where nothing could block the wind from any side. But we tried hard to sleep as much as we could cause the long day was expecting us. We planned to pass by the town of Cerbere, crossing the border to Portbou in Spain and walk all the way to the little town at the coast Colera. So we got up really early at 6:00 am and we could met the beautiful sunrise right from the sea, had our breakfast and were ready to go. We were really hungry cause the evening before we couldn't find any open supermarket (on Mondays, you know) and our food supplies were close to zero. So we were heading to the town that was a 3 kms walk going along the cliffs. After one hour hiking we got to the town Cerbere, found the supermarket on the central square and were out to find the spot for the breakfast. We decided to walk out of the town to the lighthouse at the edge of a cliff where we hoped to find a nice place to eat. It was a scenic place with the views over the town and a nice resting area with lots of benches. And there were two options to take from the Cerbere town: one going to the peak which looked quite steep but has more potential of great views and the other one going around the mountain partly on the car road that was easier but at the same time less interesting. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw the two towns from above the French town Cerbere and the Spanish Portbou that were very similar looking with two huge railway stations. Then after a steep uphill no less steep downhill was waiting for us. On the way we had to get through lots of cactuses, spiky plants and bushes, crawling down the rocks and balancing on the little falling rocks on the trail. So with the heavy backpacks it was a very challenging task to do. This challenge we'll remember for a long time. When we were getting close to Portbou the trail started to go right at the sea level and we had to jump and climb several rocks before we came out to the town beach. We didn't spend much time in Portbou and got off on the new trail leading us to Colera...

This is the public beach of Antibes, France - Plage de la Salis
Plage de la Salis is a popular local beach separated by the Antibes Yacht Club from Ponteil beach just to the east. It's a long stretch of beach also composed of fine, white sand and curving around a protected bay.
Unlike Ponteil, there's a sidewalk and not a tree-lined promenade running along the beach but there's no traffic noise, just the sound of wavelets lapping the shore. This is a free, public beach with lifeguards on duty from mid-June to mid-September. You can see lots of beautiful french girls on the beach with their perfect bodies. Well, I guess it is the same on every beach in Cote d'azur.
Pyrénées-Orientales : Collioure, petit port, grosse affluence.

Caravanning in France: Visiting the Port of St Tropez
This video covers one incredible day in the port of St Tropez. We started in Grimaud and headed over to St Tropez, crossing the water in one of the regular ferries that cross the golden gulf of St Tropez.
When we were coming into the port to dock we were blown away by the volume of incredible yachts on display.
We spent the day wandering around the cobbled streets, soaking in the sights and the sunshine; grabbing lunch in a lovely cafe and watching the world go by.
We then made the climb up the stone steps, through the plush gardens to the citadel. For the reasonable price of €3 per adult, we were delighted with the incredible views on offer and also enjoyed the museum.
After descending the steps we then earned a cold “medicinal” drink before embarking on the return boat trip. To port Grimaud, where we dined in a fantastic restaurant.
We walked back over the beach to our campsite and passed two other sites perched on the beach offering an array of entertainment to residents.
Arriving back at the caravan we had a nightcap sat outside in the warm night looking at the stars, planning our lives and our wedding.
Without a doubt one of the best days we have ever had and so thankful to the hobby of Caravanning for making it possible.
The very next morning a new adventure was to start as we discovered we were pregnant.
Pure magic.
