Complete drive through of Gotham in Nottinghamshire uk, the village that was the inspiration for Batman's Gotham City. Includes comedy parking by local Joker.
Gotham's fame began when King John tried to build a road through the village.
The locals responded by all pretending to be insane, and as madness was considered contagious, the King relented and chose a different route for his road.
Washington Irving, inspired by the story of the 'Wise men of Gotham' used the name
in his work Salmagundi Papers in 1807. More recently Bob Kane famously set his Batman stories there.
Gotham has a population of about 1600 and at the centre stands the impressive 12th century church of Saint Lawrence.

Victorian 'walkway' or Old World restoration? Park Tunnel... Nottingham UK
Fantastic tunnel connecting a street to a moneyed estate, built but never used as the gradient was too steep for horses! Park Tunnel in Nottingham was, allegedly, built between 1844 - 1855. Nottingham is a maze of tunnels and caves and well worth a look.
