JR Katata Station, Otsu City
JR Katata Station is a small train station in Otsu City of the Shiga Prefecture. This station provides access to the Mangetsuji Temple, with the famous Floating Hall on Lake Biwa. Enjoy.
Mangetsuji Temple with famous Ukimido (Floating Temple) Hall, Katata Ward, Shiga Prefecture
Mangetsuji Temple is a zen temple located in Katata Ward of Shiga Prefecture (Kansai Region) in Japan. Mangetsuji Temple is known for the Ukimido Hall which is built on the shores of lake Biwa (Biwa-ko) on the water. When the water is full this hall seems like floating on the water.
Mangetsuji is a small temple but the gorgeous views of the Lake Biwa and it's surroundings makes it a very popular temple to visit in Shiga Prefecture. The Ukimido is said to house about 1000 Amida Buddha statues in a small space.
The beautiful views of Shiga Prefecture and Lake Biwa, were subject to eight paintings to the famous Ukiyo-e Painter of Japan, Hiroshige. These paintings are known as Eights Views of Omi. Omi being the ancient name for Shiga Prefecture. One of the paints features the Geese returning home on Lake Biwa with the Ukimido Hall in the background. It is a beautiful painting along with the other seven views of Omi.
OBKG Fieldtrip 2019 to Shiga Prefecture
On OBKG field trip this year, all OBKG students and teachers visited Shiga Prefecture. First, we visited Kurokabe Square to experience making original glass by glass blasting, taking many unique building photos and eat delicious ice cream. After that, we had yakiniku all-you-can-eat together, and finally, we visited Hikone Castle, entering the castle and taking photos. We made a lot of great memories. Do you want to join us on the field trip next year?

Cable Car ride up Otokoyama Mountain.
If you're ever visiting Iwashumizu Hachiman-gu Shrine in Yawata (south of Kyoto) you should ride the Otokoyama cable car from Yawata station. For only 200yen, you can enjoy a beautiful bird's eye view of Kyoto. And on a rainy day (or even sunny) it beats walking up the hill for 30minutes.
The cable car was established in 1926 and takes you up to an important Shinto Shrine in Kyoto. Iwashumizu Hachiman-gu shrine was founded in 859 by the monk of Gyokyo. The shrine was built to protect the Emperor in Kyoto. It's a bit of a journey from the city centre but the ride on the cable car serves as a bonus treat.

Onjoji aka Miidera temple in Otsu city, Shiga pref.
- Buddhist temple in Cherry Blossoms -
---------
The official name, Onjo-ji is also widely-known as Mii-dera.
The temple is situated on the southern shore of lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture.
The temple is close to Kyoto city, which is the most popular tourist spot in Japan.
The temple attracts lots of people throughout the year, but especially in early April, many beautiful cherry blossoms lure more people to the temple.
If you're planning a trip to Kyoto, I think Miidera is worth being counted as one of the destinations of your Kyoto trip.
Thank you.

The moral of the story is....
A brother like me is not the thug type. I act as my conscience directs me with little regard for boyfriends who go home mad, or what others expect of me. I make my own way in life, but have little use for laws and regulations. This could be the start of something good...PAZ hermanos! Hasta proximo vez...

比叡山延暦寺 西塔への道のり-The way to Enryakuji Temple,Saito (west area) on Mt. Hiei
【Enryaku-ji(延暦寺)】
Enryaku-ji is a Tendai monastery located on Mount Hiei in Ōtsu, overlooking Kyoto. It was founded in 788 during the early Heian period (794-1185).[1] The temple complex was established by Saichō (767–822), also known as Dengyō Daishi, who introduced the Tendai sect of Mahayana Buddhism to Japan from China. Enryaku-ji is the headquarters of the Tendai sect and one of the most significant monasteries in Japanese history. As such, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (Kyoto, Uji and Otsu Cities). The founders of Jōdo-shū, Sōtō Zen, and Nichiren Buddhism all spent time at the monastery. Enryaku-ji is also the center for the practice of kaihōgyō (aka the marathon monks).
