Running from the 28th to the 31st of October, fright fans will have a chance to tour the Guildhall and find out more about a building that has so much history

Fundraising campaign launched to build Spitfire memorial in Salisbury
The Secret Spitfires Memorial fundraising campaign was launched today (October 15) to raise £100,000 to build a full-size, 30ft high, Spitfire replica at Salisbury Rugby Club.
The replica will serve as a lasting tribute to the hundreds of young girls, women, boys, elderly men and engineers of Salisbury who contributed to the production of more than 2,000 Spitfires.
Supported by the British Armed Forces’ most senior female military officer, Air marshal Sue Gray, the Secret Spitfire Charity officially launched the campaign following Wiltshire Council’s approval of plans.

ound its way from the Salisbury Arts Centre to the Cathedral Close in what is now the biggest Christmas lantern parade in the South of England.
UK: Troops and military equipment arrive to aid Salisbury probe
Soldiers and military equipment arrived in Salisbury on Friday afternoon to assist police in their investigation of the nerve agent attack on former double agent Sergei Skripal.
Large army vehicles and people in protective suits could be seen at Salisbury Hospital just after 5pm local time.
The new deployment came as British ministers announced 180 troops have been deployed to the area to assist police with the probe.
Sergei Skripal and his 33-year-old daughter are in critical condition in Salisbury District Hospital after being found unconscious on a park bench last Sunday. Police confirmed they are treating the matter as attempted murder by a nerve agent.

Salisbury Remembered Those Who Lost Their Lives in D-Day 75 Years Ago
75 years ago one of the most complex military strategies of all time began. Allied casualties were up to around 10,000 soldiers, as they stormed the Normandy beaches to try and reclaim Europe from the Nazi stronghold. Much of the planning for this invasion took place here in the South of England. With a large military presence, Salisbury looked to honour lose who lost their lives in that battle with a commemoration service at the Guildhall.

600 soldiers welcomed home to Salisbury 10.11.11
A thanksgiving service has taken place in Salisbury cathedral, Wiltshire to welcome home 32 Regiment Royal Artillery known as the British Army's 'eye in the sky'. It marked the end of almost nine years of continuous deployment for one or more of the Regiment's Batteries in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. The 600 soldiers taking part included 120 men and women from 57 Battery who returned from Afghanistan just five days ago. It is the first time the Regiment has all got together in the UK since early 2003. 32 Regiment will now have a temporary respite for 6 months as the Army have another Unmanned Air System unit deployed in Afghanistan. The parade was led by Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Craig Palmer and accompanied by the Band of the Royal Artillery. The regiment invited by Salisbury City Council to hold the homecoming parade paid its compliments to the Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor John Abbott as it passed Salisbury Guildhall. Football World Cup winner 1966,Sir Geoff Hurst attended.
Salisbury to host Armed Forces Day 2019
The countdown to the 2019 National Armed Forces Day National Event officially started on November 16, as soldiers, councillors and singers gathered in Salisbury's Guildhall Square.
Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE and leader of Our Wiltshire said it will show the world that the city is back open for business.
The event is planned for June 28-30 to celebrate and recognise the nation’s Armed Forces and their role in protecting the country.

Salisbury Lantern Parade 2009 - At the Guild Hall Square
Filmed by our friends at visitwiltshire.co.uk here is a brief clip of the mid-parade pause outside the Guild Hall as over a 1,000 lanterns parade through the streets of Salisbury, stretching for almost a mile in length. Half-way through and we pause so the traffic can be halted ready for us to continue through New Canal and the High Street on our way to the Cathedral grounds.

The OVO Energy Tour Series returns to Salisbury on Thursday 23 May
Salisbury will once again thrill to top class sport when the city hosts Round 6 of the elite OVO Energy Tour Series cycling on Thursday 23 May.
Wiltshire Council and Salisbury City Council are supporting the event, which will take place in Wiltshire for the second year. The event is free to attend and sees the prestigious tour series reached its penultimate stage when the men's and women's teams race for victory. Riders compete as teams with each competitor riding the circuit, and the winner is the team with the shortest cumulative lap time.
The races will start and finish in Blue Boar Row with the teams' compound in the Market Square, close to the Guildhall, where the podium will be sited.
There will be lots going on before the races to make it a event for everyone.
How Dementia Friendly Is Salisbury? We Went To Find Out!
An event in Salisbury Guildhall took place on Tuesday which aimed to give a resounding yes to the question of whether or not the city is dementia friendly. The dementia friendly Salisbury showcase featured a large number of local organisations and many members of the community coming together to provide each other with information and advice about the disease. Everyone was invited, and people that came got the chance to partake in a number of activities from seated Zumba to a group singalong! Our reporter Pete Baldry was there.

Salisbury Remembers Poppy Display Is Officially Complete
