SUMMARY
=======
Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve is a unit of the National Park Service on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It preserves upland watersheds, mangrove forests, and estuarine and marine environments that support threatened and endangered species. It also contains the Columbus Landing Site, a National Historic Landmark that is the only known site where members of a Columbus expedition set foot on what is now United States territory. The site is marked by Fort Salé, a remaining earthworks fortification from the French period of occupation, about 1617. The park also preserves prehistoric and colonial-era archeological sites including the only existing example of a ball court in the US Virgin Islands.

Jason&Leslies night kayak bioluminescent tour in Salt River Bay St Croix
Jason & Leslies (w/Jamie) night kayak tour in Salt River Bay, St. Croix, USVI from 4/27/17. Below is the description from the website of Virgin Kayak Tours.
Unfortunately, this is the video prior to dark and the GOPRO did not video well. The bioluminescent critters in the water was like millions of fireflies that lit up green when you ran your hand through the water - absolutely amazing and beautiful.
Description: One of only seven super glow biobays left in the world, The St Croix Biobay is a rare and endangered phenomena. Found in tropical mangrove estuaries, biobays are disappearing from over-development and light pollution. Here again, the Hobie pedal kayaks make it easy to cross the bay, even in the strongest winds. We meet at our shop just prior to sunset. Once it gets dark, we kayak across the The Biobay, where you'll witness the magical underwater lights, like gold dust or lightening bugs. These tiny single celled organisms, called Dino-flagellates, sparkle in the water when agitated. Truly a wondrous sight!
