National Park UNA - Pearl of Bosnia and Herzegovina | Sarajevo Funky Tours
The river Una in northwest Bosnia is a true mountain river with numerous rapids, cascades and impressive waterfalls. Its upper flow towards the town of Bihać is surrounded by a canyon, wild forests and three mountain massifs. The unique beauty of this blue-green river and the wilderness around it make the Una a unique destination for an adventurous 2/3-day trip with Sarajevo Funky Tours.
South Bosnia: Tour of Mostar, Konjic, Jablanica, Počitelj & Blagaj
Today we continue our Bosnian holiday by venturing further into the heart of Herzegovina and explore Konjic, Jablanica, Počitelj, Blagaj, and Mostar (where we see a jump from the famous bridge!). Join me as we take a day tour from Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and explore the beauty of southern Bosnia.
In Konjic, we explore the old bridge & old town. In Jablanica, we learn about the greatest WW2 story of Bosnia - the Battle of Neretva. Then we explore Počitelj, to explore the pearl of Ottoman-mediterranean architecture, before heading to Blagaj where we visit the dervish house and buna river. Then we finally end our trip in the epic city of Mostar
This UNESCO based trip is undoubtedly one of the best ways to plunge into experiencing this southern region of Herzegovina and its breathtaking scenery. It also offers a deeper insight into the fascinating cultural diversity and mind provoking history of the country.

Sarajevo (Bosnia) ⭐Top 13 things to see/do/eat in 2 days [2019] ????????
History, culture, gastronomy... Sarajevo is one of the most interesting cities in the Balkans/Europe, with so much to see and do. Discover the best way you can spend 2 days in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital city, with 13 of the top things to see/do/eat in Sarajevo through my travel vlog.
Sarajevo (and Bosnia & Herzegovina) is not the easiest of places to really get to grips with, and not the most comfortable. But it has a remarkable, if rather dark, history and the people are extremely friendly and hospitable. Definitely a fascinating country to visit.
Top 13 things to do in Sarajevo:
1) Funky Tours FREE Walking Tour: Get your bearings and enjoy true Bosnian hospitality
2) Baščaršija (Old Town/Bazaar): Visit Kazandžiluk (Coppersmiths) Street
3) Bosnian Burek / Pita: Flaky filo pastry stuffed with meat, cheese, spinach, etc
4) Bosnian Ćevapi: Traditional mini grilled minced meat kebabs with flatbread and onions
5) Sarajevsko Beer: Drink it at the Pivnica HS traditional tavern right next to the brewery
6) Bosnian coffee: Similar but different to Turkish coffee. Get your caffeine and sugar hit
7) Tunnel of Hope Museum: Learn about the Siege of Sarajevo, see how people survived
8) Yellow Bastion / Fortress: Best sunset viewpoint and panoramic view of Sarajevo
9) Galerija 11/07/95: Understand the Srebenica genocide
10) Latin Bridge: Stand in the place where World War I started
11) Mount Trebević Cable Car (Sarajevska žičara): Ride up the famous mountain
12) Abandoned Olympic Bobsled & Luge Track: Insta photo worthy but also horrific history
13) Bistrik Tower Urban Exploration (Urbex): Near the bottom of the bobsled track

Traveling the Balkans Off The Beaten Path - East Bosnia & West Serbia
I took a day tour from Sarajevo to explore Bosnia and Serbia off the beaten path.
We start our journey in the East Bosnian town of Višegrad, and the UNESCO Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, take a cruise on the Drina River, and then make a short stop at Andrićgrad.
We then head over the border to West Serbia and go back in time by riding the Šargan Eight Train (a 76mm rail road train), and then visit Drvengrad, a town made completely from timber which was used by Emir Kusturic for the movie set of 'Life is a Miracle'.
Afterwards, we push further into Serbia's mountains and experience the quiet beauty of Tara National Park, known for its amazing views (and wild bears!. This is a popular national park with locals, and we did not see many foreigners there, which made the experience more special.
Later at night, we ended our trip with the Serbian-Orthodox Dobrun Monastery, where monks brew their own Rakija (Balkan fire water). The monastery was built in 1343. Unfortunately we got there too late, so we didn't get to go inside.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Tourism | Best Places To Visit In Sarajevo Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina Tourism | Best Places To Visit In Sarajevo Bosnia and Herzegovina.Despite all those rugged mountains, the snow-caked heights of the Dinaric Alps, the beautiful Una River and towns like Mostar and Stolac where Ottoman and Byzantine, Roman and Balkan, Slavic and oodles of other styles all coalesce between the ancient streets, Bosnia and Herzegovina remains a somewhat off-the-beaten-track corner of Europe. Check out this list of the country’s best places to visit, which flits from the wild hinterland to the buzzing, burgeoning capital along the way.
1. Capital Sarajevo
Sarajevo is simply special and, by far, one of the most unique capital cities in Europe. I haven’t met too many people who have visited and didn’t fall in love a little for a number of reasons: the sinfully delicious food, its surrounding mountain scenery, the kindness of the locals, or its unbreakable spirit.
2. Lukomir Mountain Village
Lukomir is a magical mountain village where very traditional Bosnian lifestyle has been fully maintained. It is not as isolated as it used to be due to its increased popularity and the growing number of tour operators offering it as day trip from Sarajevo. For sure, an experience you can’t find in too many other places in Europe anymore.
3. Sutjeska National Park
Wild horses, funky Yugoslav monuments, a primeval forest, great hiking, and the highest peak in Bosnia & Herzegovina…What is not amazing about Sutjeska National Park?
4. Travnik
Bisected by the babbling Lasva River as it flows through the central mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the pretty mid-sized town of Travnik does well to balance its interesting past as the capital and stronghold of the erstwhile viziers of this old Ottoman sub-region and modern day adventure sports and outdoorsy draws. The first aspect manifests in a curious array of traditional eastern-style edifices and monuments, two Ottoman clock towers (unique throughout the country) and a handsome 15th-century old town heart.
5. Mostar
One of the undisputed jewels of the entire Balkan Peninsula, Mostar oozes Bosnian history from each of its Byzantine cracks, Slavic crevices and Ottoman facades. The piece de resistance has to be the arched Old Bridge that spans the Neretva at the town’s heart, now meticulously reconstructed following destruction in the Croat–Bosniak conflict and a bearer of that coveted UNESCO tag. And all around this masterpiece cast in stone, Mostar layers Dalmatian builds and Franciscan churches, oriental designs and arabesque mosques into one glorious aesthetic
Tour of Central Bosnia's Hidden Gems: Jajce, Travnik & Pliva Lakes Tour
There are unique hidden gems waiting to be discovered in the heart of Bosnia. Here in Bosnia's green centre we will visit Travnik, Jajce and Pliva Lakes.
We investigate imposing fortifications, explore Travnik, an Ottoman time vizier's town, venture through Jajce, the royal city of Bosnian kings and which later became the birthplace if Yugoslavia (also famous for its enormous waterfall in the city centre), and check out through the historic watermills of Pliva Lakes.

Tito's Nuclear Bunker Tour ☢️, Bosnia's Abandoned Buildings & Sarajevo's Siege Tunnels
Today we get up close and personal with the history of Yugoslavia in Bosnia and Herzegovina by visiting Tito's Nuclear Bunker in the nearby town of Konjic. We then continue on to explore other parts of Yugoslavian history, understanding its golden age and later on, its downfall.
After Konjic, we drive to Igman mountain and explore its abandoned Olympic Ski Jumps from the 1984 Winter Olympics, and then head to Trebevic Mountain to see the famous Olympic Bobsled Track. Afterwards, we make a stop at the Jewish Cemetery (Europe's 2nd largest after Prague's), before ending the tour at Sarajevo's famous Yellow Bastion for sunset.
Throughout the tour, we also get a first hand account of the Bosnian War with a local guide who survived the conflict. Our guide then takes us to investigate the the Sarajevo War Tunnels used during the Siege of Sarajevo, which lasted 4 years.

Sarajevo, and Sutjezka National Park, Bosnia-Herzegovina
I honestly never would have guessed that my visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina would end up being my favourite in Europe. Sure, much of the rest of Europe was a little bit of a let-down to me, but Bosnia was so amazing. I absolutely loved Sarajevo, and was surprised by things like the quality of the food, and diversity. Moreover, as someone who spent much of their university career studying conflict resolution, seeing Bosnia-Herzegovina after the civil war was very interesting.
On our first trip out of Sarajevo, we headed to a national park known as Sutjezka to explore a part of a trail known as the Via Dinarica which is a massive multi-national trail that covers over 1,000 kilometers. Other places we visited in the Sarajevo area included the old bobsled track from the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, the tunnel, and the gallery.
All-in-all, I really do hope for the best in regards to Sarajevo, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. It is a country that has been through a lot. The people, though, are incredibly open and welcoming. I hope to get back there someday soon.
