Carbon Neutral Brazilian Beef is already a reality
Brazil's the green beef country. During the whole year, almost all animals are raised on grass. That means, that the beef production is mostly free of antibiotics and diseases associated with confinement of animals, as the mad cow disease.
In this context, Embrapa researchers have developed the Carbon Neutral Brazilian Beef, after 15 years of scientific investigation. This new concept technology articulates science, nature and development, and also provides the sustainable and rational use of the natural resources and inputs.
Today, in Brazil, the Integrated Tropical Agriculture is already a reality in about 13 million hectares. This mutual policy implies more animal confort, healthier food for the consumer, produced in a profitable way for the producers, improving more environmental services.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Science and technology in Brazil has entered the international arena in recent decades. The central agency for science and technology in Brazil is the Ministry of Science and Technology, which includes the CNPq and Finep. This ministry also has direct supervision over the National Institute for Space Research (Portuguese: Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais — INPE), the National Institute of Amazonian Research (Portuguese: Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia — INPA), and the National Institute of Technology (Brazil) (Portuguese: Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia — INT). The ministry is also responsible for the Secretariat for Computer and Automation Policy (Portuguese: Secretaria de Política de Informática e Automação — SPIA), which is the successor of the SEI. The Ministry of Science and Technology, which the Sarney government created in March 1985, was headed initially by a person associated with the nationalist ideologies of the past. Although the new minister was able to raise the budget for the science and technology sector, he remained isolated within the government and had no influence on policy making for the economy.
With the new ministry, the science and technology agencies increased in size but lost some of their former independence and flexibility, and they became more susceptible to patronage politics. Most of the resources of the CNPq were channeled to fellowship programs procedures for quality control and no mechanisms to make the fellows active in the country's science and technology institutions. New groups competed for resources and control of the country's agencies of science, technology, and higher education. These groups included political parties, unionized university professors and employees, scientific societies, and special interest groups within the scientific and technological community. The SBPC (Brazilian Society for Scientific Development) shed its image as a semi-autonomous association of scientists to become an active lobbyist for more public resources and the protection of national technology from international competition.

The 13 World's Strangest And Funniest Buildings!
Puzzling World, Wanaka, New Zeland. Stuart Landsborough's Puzzling World is a tourist attraction near Wanaka, New Zealand. It started out as just a single level maze in 1973, but over the years expanded to add overbridges to the maze design (thus creating the world's first 3-D maze), a large puzzling café where guests could try out several puzzles, five large rooms of optical illusions, the Leaning Tower of Wanaka (which has a backwards clock that was started on the eve of the new millennium) and other attractions (such as the Roman Bathrooms) that ascribe to their theme of puzzling eccentricity.
Upside Down House, Gettorf, Germany. This upside down house was built in March 2010 for a local zoo in Gettorf, Germany.
Cybertecture Egg, Mumbai, India. A new form of architecture, commissioned by Vijay Associates (Wadhwa Developers) and designed by James Law Cybertecture International and Ove Arup, is typified by new intangible materials of technology, multimedia, intelligence and interactivity to create an awe-inspiring landmark for the city of Mumbai and for India in the 21st Century.
The Teapot Dome, Zillah, USA. The Teapot Dome Service Center located in Zillah, Washington, and in 1985 listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Kunsthaus Graz, Austria. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Graz was built in 2003. Designed by architects Peter Cook and Colin Fournier in an innovative style known as blob architecture, focusing on the creation of living structures similar to a huge drop or bubble. Though it looks like an ameba, it's called Friendly Alien.
Dog Bark Park Inn, Idaho, USA. The Dog Bark Park Inn is a hotel located in the US state of Idaho. The hotel is built in the shape of a beagle, making it a famous landmark in the state. It is colloquially known as Sweet Willy by local residents. The hotel, which is located in north central Idaho, is a two-bedroom B&B which also features dog-themed contents.
The Spittelau Waste Incineration Plant, Vienna, Austria. The Spittelau Incinerator is a waste-to-energy incinerator in Vienna, Austria. Originally completed in 1971 the building was damaged by fire and in 1987 the elevations were redesigned by architect and artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Atlantic City, NJ, USA. As of 2010, there are over 30 Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museums, or more correctly Odditoriums (from Oddity - someone or something strange or unusual) around the world. Ripley's Believe It or Not! is a franchise, founded by Robert LeRoy Riply (1890-1949), an American cartoonist, entrepreneur and amateur anthropologist. The first Ripley's Odditorium collection was displayed during the run of the World's Fair in 1933 in Chicago, and in 1950, a year after Ripley's death, the first permanent Odditorium opened in St. Augustine, Florida.
Tianzi Hotel, Langfang, China. This ten-storey building in the shape of three huge Heroes is nothing but the Tianzi Hotel that was built in 2000 in the Chinese city of Langfang, Hebei Province, between Beijing and Tianjin.
Robot Building, Bangkok, Thailand. The Robot Building, located in the Sathorn business district of Bangkok, Thailand, houses United Overseas Bank's Bangkok headquarters. It was designed for the Bank of Asia by Sumet Jumsai to reflect the computerization of banking; its architecture is a reaction against neoclassical and high-tech postmodern architecture. The building's features, such as progressively receding walls, antennas, and eyes, contribute to its robotic appearance and to its practical function. Completed in 1986, the building is one of the last examples of modern architecture in Bangkok.
The Torre Galatea, Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. The Dali Theatre and Museum, Torre Galatea in Figueres, Spain - the home town of famous artist Salvador Dali. It has a very unusual architecture with several egg shaped sculptures on its roof. Dali had spent later part of his life in Torre Galatea, which he had named after his wife Gala.
Wall House, Odessa, Ukraine. Wall House was built about 150 years ago. At first it seems to be built only for thin people, but in fact the secret of architectural deception was revealed: the back wall of the house is at a sharp angle, it is directly adjacent to a facade, and, as a matter of fact, the house has a triangular shape.
Museum of Contemporary Art, Niteroi, Brazil. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer with the assistance of structural engineer Bruno Contarini, who had worked with Niemeyer on earlier projects, the MAC-Niterói is 16 meters high; its cupola has a diameter of 50 metres with three floors. The museum projects itself over Boa Viagem (Bon Voyage, Good Journey), the 817 square metres (8,790 sq ft) reflecting pool that surrounds the cylindrical base like a flower, in the words of Niemeyer.

An Egyptian man recently took the ultimate plunge for the sake of science. Setting a new Guinness World Record for the deepest scuba dive, the man dove more than 1,000 feet (305 meters) below the surface of the Red Sea.
When asked why he decided to dive deeper than any person had before, Ahmed Gabr, 41, told the media that he was hoping to prove that humans could survive the conditions of deep-sea immersion, according to Guinness World Records.
Diving off the coast of Dahab, Egypt, Gabr reached a depth of 1,090 feet 4 inches (332.35 meters). The previous record holder for the deepest scuba dive, Nuno Gomes of South Africa, also dove off the coast of Dahab, in 2005, reaching a depth of 1,044 feet (318.21 m).
To put these depths into perspective, three American football fields laid end to end would measure 900 feet (274.32 m) long — less than the distance these divers reached underwater. Most recreational scuba divers only dive as deep as 130 feet (40 meters), according to the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
It took Gabr only about 12 minutes to reach the record depth, which he achieved with the help of a specially tagged rope that he pulled along with him from the surface, Guinness World Records officials said in a statement. However, the trip back up to the surface took much longer — about 15 hours. Returning too quickly from such depths is associated with a number of health risks, such as decompression sickness (also known as the bends) and nitrogen narcosis from excess nitrogen in the brain, which Gabr luckily avoided.

The Amazonian Travels of Richard Evans Schultes
Public Lecture by Mark Plotkin, Co-Founder and President of the Amazon Conservation Team, and Brian Hettler, GIS and New Technologies Manager of the Amazon Conservation Team
Richard Evans Schultes—ethnobotanist, taxonomist, writer, photographer, and Harvard professor—is regarded as one of the most important plant explorers of the twentieth century. In 1941, Schultes traveled to the Amazon rainforest on a mission to study how Indigenous peoples used plants for medicinal, ritual, and practical purposes. A new interactive online map, produced by the Amazon Conservation Team, traces the landscapes and cultures that Schultes explored in the Colombian Amazon. Plotkin and Hettler will share this map and discuss the relevance of Schultes’ travels and collections for science, conservation, and education in the twenty-first century.
Presented by the Harvard Museum of Natural History and the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology in collaboration with the Amazon Conservation Team and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies

Mark Plotkin: Maps, Magic and Medicine in the Rainforest | Bioneers 2016
Mark Plotkin, groundbreaking ethnobotanist and author of seminal books including Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice, works closely with Indigenous peoples and uncontacted tribes in the northwest Amazon. As co-founder of the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) in 1995, he depicts ACT's work partnering with over 30 South American tribes, including the Kogi, to map, manage and protect over 70 million acres of ancestral forests. He describes collaboration with elder healers to develop and implement successful Shamans and Apprentices programs to transmit sacred healing information down through generations within the tribes themselves.
Introduction by Laurie Benenson, film producer, environmental changemaker.
This speech was given at the 2016 National Bioneers Conference.
Since 1990, Bioneers has acted as a fertile hub of social and scientific innovators with practical and visionary solutions for the world's most pressing environmental and social challenges.

TOP 10 Best Places To Start A New Life
TOP 10 Best Places To Start A New Life
Packing up your life and moving somewhere completely new is not an easy task – but it just may be exactly what you need. Go somewhere where the climate or culture better fits your tastes and personality. There are many places in the world which very few people ever think about when contemplating a change like this. Here are 10 of the Best Places To Start A New Life.
Suva, Fiji
Living in Fiji can be cheap or expensive depending on the lifestyle you chose to follow. If you want the city life but on a smaller scale, then Suva, the capital, is for you. Fiji is consistently ranked in the top five for cost of living, quality of life and friendliness of the people. It’s ideal for anybody starting to become tired of the fast-paced city life they’re used to, without giving up everything they know. In Suva, you can find apartments and houses from just $250 a month, with more expensive and luxury options available too.
Florianopolis, Brazil
Nothing says “fresh start” like Brazil. Positive reports calling lush “Floripa” one of Brazil’s best cities to live in has influenced people from all around the world to move here, creating a vibe as cosmopolitan as it is tropical. It has great infrastructure, many job possibilities, especially in technology and tourism, and a seemingly universal willingness to celebrate anything at any time. Life here is as convenient as it is sweet. Plus, the island has 42 beaches.
Santorini, Greece
There are not many places in the world where you can enjoy exquisitely clear waters while perched on the rim of a massive active volcano in the middle of the sea. Santorini, or any other island part of the Greek Cyclades, are a dream come true. Candy-coloured houses carved into cliffs, sapphire waters, gleaming white buildings topped with half-spheres... These islands truly have a character of their own. Here you’ll find peace as you roam the black sand beaches or watch the legendary sunsets, which seem tinted with every shade of an artist’s palette.
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
Full of beautiful architecture, colourful houses, narrow cobblestone streets, museums, forts and ocean views, Old San Juan is a perfect place to just pause and find yourself. Puerto Rican people are friendly, welcoming and very nice. They'll guide you and help you to get settled when you arrive and they are happy to answer any questions you need answering.
Avarua, Cook Islands
Located about 2,000 kilometres north east of New Zealand, the tropical beaches of Avarua are no less gorgeous than those of the Cyclades or Florianopolis. You can rent an apartment here for just $130 a month. The island also attracts comparatively few tourists: around 100,000 foreigners visit every year, compared to the eight million who go to Hawaii. So you won’t have crowds of people spoiling your enjoyment of Avarua’s attractions — which include observing the population of whales (The Aquatic Marine Mammal – not the country), going for long relaxing walks, and enjoying the amazing scenery. The only catch is that foreigners aren’t allowed to buy property on the island, although they can rent it for up to 60 years.
Koh Thonsáy, Cambodia
This small island in southern Cambodia is a real paradise of jungles and beaches. The population here is so low that it’s possible to find accommodation for a ridiculously small amount of money. You can spend your time relaxing on the beach, or exploring the jungle caves. For just $5, the fishermen will cook you a delicious meal made from freshly-caught fish and crab. Other seafood products will cost you no more than $1-2 here. The one drawback is that the island’s beaches are not well-kept tourist spots, but essentially areas of wilderness infrequently taken over by wild dogs or other animals. A place for those who really want to get away from civilisation.
The Pearl Islands, Panama
An amazing archipelago lying thirty kilometres to the west of mainland Panama. A huge number of pearls were once mined there; at another time pirates used it as their hiding place. Now, it’s become a haven full of wonderful resorts used by the local population. You can rent a small house here by the sea for around $300 a month. The Pearl Islands are ideal for those who want to escape from the world. In terms of the scenery, it’s probably one of the most impressive places on the planet.
Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria
This little place is nestled in a valley in northern Bulgaria. Veliko Tarnovo is undoubtedly one of the most agreeable places on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, often called the Bulgarian Riviera. It’s as beautiful as France, but here a bottle of wine will cost you just 80 cents...
