CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS NEBRASKA! Chimney Rock, Carhenge, Scottsbluff National Monument!
My husband and I are on a 12 day road trip through the United States. In our previous video you'll see the Nebraska Sandhills, which I found a super unique landscape. In this video we see more of the landscapes of Western Nebraska. First, we saw the Chimney Rock, which used to be a landmark for people traveling on the Oregon Trails in the 19th century. Then, we drove up a mountain (yes, we are still in Nebraska!) in Scottsbluff National Monument. Then finally, we got to visit the Carhenge. It's like the Stonehenge, except it is much younger and we know it's purpose. We both used to live in Nebraska, and we dreamt of going there for a while. We thought this was such a cool monument! Enjoy! Subscribe to follow our journey!

Scotts Bluff National Monument
Recorded July 15, 2014
Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska includes an important 19th century landmark on the Oregon Trail and Mormon Trail. The National Monument contains multiple bluffs (steep hills) located on the south side of the North Platte River; it is named for one prominent bluff called Scotts Bluff, which rises over 800 feet above the plains at its highest point. The monument is composed of five rock formations named Crown Rock, Dome Rock, Eagle Rock, Saddle Rock, and Sentinel Rock.

SCOTTS BLUFF || CHIMNEY ROCK || NEBRASKA || TWO WEEK RV ROAD TRIP || SN. 1 || Ep. 10
Experiencing the beauty of Western Nebraska is accentuated by the history and tales of Scotts Bluff National Monument and Chimney Rock. They are geological wonders that nearly everyone heard of growing up in textbooks....or at least while playing Oregon Trail back in the '90s.
Continuing our two week RV road trip, we didn't have high expectations when we traveled to Scottsbluff, Nebraska to see these historical locations, but were taken by surprise. The countryside is breathtaking and the significance of these landmarks is etched in every part of the surrounding areas.
Come explore #Nebraska with us as we tour some of the most recognized and mentioned landmarks along the Oregon Trail: #Scottsbluff, #ChimneyRock, and Courthouse and Jail Rock. We also visit a very-budget friendly but entertaining zoo and show you around our campsite at #LakeMinatare.

Experience Nebraska: Scottsbluff/Gering | Good Living Tour 2015
In June 2015, a team of Hear Nebraska journalists visited nine Greater Nebraska communities as part of HN’s Good Living Tour. Along the way, we interviewed young residents to hear, in their own words, what makes their community a distinctly attractive place to live, work and play.
Here’s what the residents of Scottsbuff and Gering had to say:
