Paradise Hunter @ Riviera Nayarit Mexico, Soccer, Yachts and Whales
Before leaving San Blas I had to find a soccer game to jump into, I've lived in latin America before and this is always the best way to meet the locals. My wish was granted without much searching (everyone plays soccer in Mexico) and I ran around with a group of very excited little kids until I was dripping in sweat. Our next activity was far from the dusty streets of San Blas...It was time to participate in a little yacht race! I met up with Richard, a man who has traveled the world by boat for many years and jumped on his beautiful Catamaran for a day of cruising in the bay of Banderas. He has chosen to live in this region because of the incredible weather and large population of ex-pats. We didn't win the race but as Richard said at the very beginning of the day, the goal is to have fun. He's a great guy and invites about 1,000 people onto his boat each year so they can experience the thrill of sailing, and all he asks in return is for them to donate $20 to their favorite charity. The next day we jumped on a much smaller boat and went on a search for Humpback whales. This was the most incredibly display of nature I'd ever witnessed and I even got to jump into the water and swim with wild dolphins.
Come find your paradise...

What's Really Happening In Mexico? Day 7 - Part 1 RIVIERA NAYARIT
Hosted by Scott Sheehan
Directed & Produced by Michael Corbiere
I just love getting to see new places, and as luck would have it, the western leg of our lightning tour of Mexico takes us to no fewer than four distinct regions that are wholly new to us: Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Ixtapa, and, most mysteriously, the Riviera Nayarit.
Well, it turns out that the name refers to the coastline of the state of Nayarit, and that coastline offers the exceedingly upscale resorts of Punta Mita and Nuevo Vallarta, including the Four Seasons Resort, frequented by the rich and famous; and many golf courses, including no less than two designed by Jack Nicklaus himself! It also boasts the charming bohemian town of Sayulita, thats been attracting surfers and vagabonds for many years.
Natural wonders abound here as well, with many species of sea turtles returning here to lay their eggs. The coast is also renowned in birder circles as being one of the top spots in the Americas to see an astonishing assortment of our feathered friends, including the elusive Blue-Footed Booby!
The tiny island town of Mexcaltitan, found further up the coast in a large lagoon, is thought to be the mythical land of Aztlan, where the Aztecs were shown a vision of an eagle clutching a snake in its talons while perched upon a nopales cactus. 7 tribes set out across the country, searching for this sign that would tell them where to found a new city. One of those tribes did come upon this scene (that is now the coat of arms on Mexicos flag) in the spot that would one day become Mexico City. So the entire Aztec empire was really born here in a vision!
Were off to Ixtapa tomorrow! Come back and see whats going on there
Baby Sea Turtle release Puerto Vallarta Mexico part two
Baby Sea Turtles part two........baby turtles being released into Banderas Bay in Puerto Vallarta.
The ideal season for releasing baby sea turtles in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit is between the months of July and December, although the opportunity often presents itself outside of this period of time. It is one of the most popular and anticipated events in the area, for locals and tourists alike.
It’s not just an educational and cultural activity in which you can learn a great deal about these marine creatures- this is an emotional journey as well! Here you are contributing to a good cause, and it’s amazing to see the newborn turtles making such an effort to reach the sea and embark on what will be their journey and fight for survival. Of every 1000 turtles, just 5% will reach adulthood; this creates a very different perception of the species, which unfortunately is in danger of extinction.
