The Cotswolds and Moreton in Marsh
The Cotswolds in southwest England is a beautiful and magical place located only 75 miles from London. The region is filled with lovely villages and rolling countryside vistas which may have been the inspiration for The Shires, home of the Hobbits, in JRR Tolkins The Lord of the Rings. We visit the weekly market in the village of Moreton in Marsh that's been going on since the year 1227.
We stayed at the Tree Tops Guest House in Moreton In Marsh. It was excellent.

Chastleton House In The Cotswolds.
Chastleton House is a Jacobean country house situated at Chastleton near Moreton-in-Marsh, Oxfordshire, England. It has been owned by the National Trust since 1991 and is a Grade I listed building.
Chastleton House was built between 1607 and 1612, for Walter Jones, who had made his fortune from the law, although his family were originally Welsh wool merchants. The estate was bought in 1604 from Robert Catesby, although his residence was demolished to make way for the new house and no traces of the original building on this spot remain. The house is built of Cotswold stone, round a small courtyard, called the Dairy Court.
Chastleton House is famous for an episode from the Civil War in which a loyal wife duped (and drugged) Roundhead soldiers to save her husband.
Chastleton House was used as one of the locations for the 2015 BBC Two television series Wolf Hall and represented 'Wolf Hall,' home of the Seymours.

A History of Winchcombe | Exploring the Cotswolds
Winchcombe is a Cotswold town in the local authority district of Tewkesbury, in Gloucestershire, England. Winchcombe’s story begins back in the Neolithic period when people settled in our hills leaving a stone-lined, burial chamber – the Belas Knap long barrow.
In Saxon times Winchcombe was a royal centre favoured by the kings of Mercia, then in the Middle Ages it became a pilgrimage centre and thriving wool town. The Victorian era saw its expansion with a Town Hall, churches, a grammar school and more housing.
