Dizin is one of the larger Iranian ski resorts in the Alborz mountain range, near Tehran and also the city of Karaj. It was established in 1969.[1].
The ski season in Dizin lasts longer than in European ski resorts, from December to May, because of the resort's high altitude. The highest ski lift reaches 3,600 m (11,800 ft), making it one of the 40 highest ski resorts in the world.

Built at the end of the seventies, Tochal ski resort is part of a multi activity complex located North of Tehran. Tochal is a leisure place for Tehran, and people who came to breath fresh air and enjoy many activities such as : skiing or snowboarding, hiking, summer sledge, zipline, coaster, restaurants, hotel…
To reach the ski area, the 7km ride gondola, constructed by the french company POMA, can fit up to 6 persons per cabin.
SKI AREA
At Tochal ski resort, the winter season lasts up to 7 months with 100% natural snow ! If smog isn’t to dense, you will experience a breathtaking panoramic view of Tehran from top of the gondola.
On the other side of the mountain, North-West exposure, you will find the ski area equipped with 3x lifts : 2x chairlifts (three seats) and 1x unused ski lift. The 2x slopes of the resort are nice, wide and properly groomed everyday. You will be amazed by the quality of the snow.
Using the lifts, off-piste trails are limited. However, weather you know where to go, you can experience really long off-pistes : Starting from Tochal Peak back to the valley leading to Dizin, Shemshak and Darbandsar ski resorts.
Since 2017, a terrain park is built by a small team of volunteers, who are passionate about snowboard and ski freestyle.

Real Iran: Skiing & snow in Dizin Tehran + information
At the start of 2017, we hit Dizin mountains to ski and snowboard!
How much does it cost?
Rental is about 70K toman. Lift tickets were about 100K toman.
How to get to Dizin?
Two routes. One is using the Chalous road, and the other is using the north of Tehran route. Note the information I talk about in the video - one way, and closed till Mid Feb.
We got a taxi there, who waited for us for the day, then drove us back. Cost was about 250K toman for the taxi in total.
Can I hire equipment?
Yes, everything from Skis, snowboards, jackets, helmets etc.

I left my apriori in Chamonix to go riding on the Persian snow of the chain of Alborz ... And the surprise was beautiful. A cheerful slap that I will remember for a long time with happiness, both on the human level than on that of the ride.

There has been a 850 percent increase in the number of foreign skiers (in January of 2016 compared to January 2015) which shows that the situation is improving.

LEADIN:
The wind of change is already blowing across one of Iran's biggest ski slopes as the country gets relieved from crippling international sanctions.
Sanctions relief will revive the economy, ratings agency Moody's said Monday.
STORYLINE
Every weekend, Dizin in the Alborz mountain range, north of Tehran, draws hundreds of holidaymakers from the capital and other towns.
This winter, Iranians are surprised to see a surge in the number of foreign skiers, mostly businessmen seeking investment opportunities in the country following the removal of crucial sanctions.
Resort authorities say that number of foreign skiers in January of 2016 has soared up by 850 percent from a year earlier.
