Places to see in ( Munich - Germany ) Siegestor
The Siegestor in Munich is a three-arched triumphal arch crowned with a statue of Bavaria with a lion-quadriga. The Siegestor is 21 meters high, 24 m wide, and 12 m deep. The Siegestor (“Victory Gate”) forms the northern edge of Ludwigstraße, which together with the Feldherrnhalle forms the border of the royal boulevard. To the south, the Triumphbogen (triumphal arch) opens to Leopoldstraße, the main promenade in the trendy Schwabing neighborhood.
On the Siegestor, a bronze sculpture of Bavaria with four lions looks toward the city. The Triumphbogen, commissioned in 1840 by Ludwig I from architect Friedrich von Gärtner, is said to be modeled after the Arco di Constantino in Rome. On the northern side of the gate, the inscription commemorates the successful end to the wars for liberation of 1815. The southern side has been adorned since the end of World War II with the inscription “Dedicated to war, destroyed in the war, reminding of peace.
It is located between the Ludwig Maximilian University and the Ohmstraße, where the Ludwigstraße (south) ends and the Leopoldstraße (north) begins. It thus sits at the boundary between the two Munich districts of Maxvorstadt and Schwabing. The gate was commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, designed by Friedrich von Gärtner and completed by Eduard Mezger in 1852. The marble quadriga was sculpted by Johann Martin von Wagner, artistic advisor to Ludwig and a professor at the University of Würzburg. Lions were likely used in the quadriga, instead of the more usual horses, because the lion was a heraldic charge of the House of Wittelsbach, the ruling family of the Bavarian monarchy.

Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century.
Munich is the capital and largest city of the German state of Bavaria, on the banks of River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg, and the 12th biggest city of the European Union. The postwar period was characterised by American occupation until 1949 and a strong increase of population and economic power during the years of the Wirtschaftswunder (lit.: economic miracle) after 1949. Unlike many other German cities which were heavily bombed and destroyed during World War II, Munich rebuilt most of its traditional cityscape and added a modern face to the city with the Olympic Stadium, while hosting the 1972 Summer Olympics. In addition the Allianz Arena was inaugurated in 2005. The stadium is owned by FC Bayern Munich; the most successful German football club both in terms of domestic and international success. Especially since the 1980s, Munich and the entire surrounding region was characterised by a strong economic growth, the location of high-tech industries and scientific institutions, very low unemployment rates and a strong influx of people. The city is home to major corporations like BMW, Siemens, MAN, Linde, Allianz and MunichRE as well as many small and medium-sized companies.
Munich is home to many national and international authorities, major universities, major museums and theatres. Its numerous architectural attractions, international sports events, exhibitions and conferences and its annual Oktoberfest attract considerable tourism. München Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station in the city. It is one of the three long distance stations in Munich, the others being München Ost and München-Pasing. München Hauptbahnhof sees about 450,000 passengers a day. Franz Josef Strauss International Airport is the second-largest airport in Germany and seventh-largest in Europe after London Heathrow, Paris Charle de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid and Istanbul Atatürk.

Munich Germany by drone 4k - DJI Mavic 2 Pro | Germany Travel
Munich, the capital city of Bavaria and home to many beautiful historical buildings.
Over the last weeks I took some drone shots of Munich to showcase the beauty of this city, from modern architecture to historical buildings. Munich is the third largest city in Germany and is considered as a center of culture, politics and science. Over the last years Munich has constantly been growing in terms of tourists and travelers, of course also due to the famous Oktoberfest (Beerfest). If you travel to Germany or Europe, Munich should be on your list.
In this video I want to showcase the main landmarks and highlights of Munich city, all shots in 4k.
Please be advised, that drone flying in Munich is generally forbidden. I posses a license to fly in the state of Bavaria (Allgemeinverfügung) and got local police approval to take those shots of Munich.
