Angkor TK Travel & Tours, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Dating back to 1990, a group of partners started their business with a restaurant in Phnom Penh which served a high end international buffet. Unbelievably, in a small, unknown country, the business ran well creating the demand to open 3 more restaurants in Siem Reap.
Following a long period of conflict, an increasing level of stability began to make travel within Cambodia more acceptable worldwide. Nonetheless, the fascinating world heritage site Angkor Wat itself and other surrounding temples attract a huge number of visitors to Cambodia every year.
Established in 2001 by the same group of business partners, Angkor T.K. Travel & Tours (ATK) started as a local tour operator. With a small number of staff, it was a tough trial period. Through the years, we have gained a lot of experience in the Tourism of Cambodia. Growing from a tiny office space to an individual office building. Due to our success the business keeps expanding as the number of partners and clients has increased worldwide.
We have been serving our business partners and customers as a local tour expert for several years. Consequently, many worldwide leading companies (both private & public) rely on us in taking care of their groups or even their VIP guests year by year. Until 2005, it has been our pride at receiving the great opportunity of being a local representative in handling the ground operation for World Class Cruise Line Companies. Increasing from small numbers of cruise ships at the beginning to handling the responsibility of 10 ships a year. They are MS DEUTSCHLAND, MS NAUTICA, SILVER SHADOW, SILVER WHISPER, QUEEN MARY II, QUEEN ELIZABETH II, QUEEN VICTORIA, CRYSTAL SYMPHONY, CRYSTAL SERENITY, SAPPHIRE PRINCESS, PACIFIC PRINCESS, TAHITIAN PRINCESS, ROYAL PRINCESS, SUN PRINCESS, DIAMOND PRINCESS, ARCADIA and ORIANA CRUISE
In April 2008, we were honored by the reward from The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) and the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA) on the occasion of the Cambodias Achievement of 2 Million International Visitors in 2007. This reward bestowed us with recognition of our outstanding contribution to promoting Tourism in Cambodia.
Like any company we always advertise and promote ourselves to the public, but around 80% of our business now comes from our business partners and most importantly word of mouth. At the heart of everything we do, we pride ourselves in creating the best possible tailor-made itineraries, providing excellent services for our clients and doing everything we can, to ensure they are so happy with their trip that they recommend us to their friends and family.
Tuk-Tuk ride (autorickshaw) around the Temples of Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia
This is a travel video capturing clips from our entire three day experience visiting the Temples of Angkor by tuk-tuk (autorickshaw) in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. By far our preferred (and recommended) way of getting around the temples, the tuk-tuk drivers are knowledgeable about which temples to visit while helping your to conserve energy for exploration on foot. We noticed many tourists who decided to take bicycles looking awfully tanned, sweating and exhausted. The video captures many snippets of the things we witnessed on the road, such as passing other vehicles, farm fields, rural areas and small villages. Overall, we often looked forward to taking the tuk-tuk as much as we did exploring the temples, as it gave us a chance to cool off in the breeze while resting our legs.

Auto rickshaws are a common means of public transportation in many countries in the world. Also known as a three-wheeler, Samosa, tempo, tuk-tuk, trishaw, auto, rickshaw, autorick, bajaj, rick, tricycle, mototaxi, baby taxi or lapa in popular parlance, an auto rickshaw is a usually three-wheeled cabin cycle for private use and as a vehicle for hire. It is a motorized version of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Auto rickshaws are an essential form of urban transport in many developing countries, and a form of novelty transport in many Eastern countries.
In Cambodia, the term tuk-tuk (Khmer: ទុកទុក) is used to refer to a motorcycle with a cabin attached to the rear. Cambodian cities have a much lower volume of automobile traffic than Thai cities, and tuk-tuks are still the most common form of urban transport. At the temple complex of Angkor, for example, tuk-tuks provide a convenient form of transport around the complex for tourists. One can hire a tuk-tuk and driver by the day.
Siem Reap tuk-tuks are generally of the style of motorcycle and trailer. Phnom Penh tuk-tuks are by contrast one piece. They are the front end of a motorcycle consisting of steering, tank and engine/gearbox with a covered tray mounted at the back. The power is transferred by chain to an axle mounted to the modified rear fork which drives the two rear wheels. Suspended upon the rear fork is an open cabin with an in-line seat on each side. This arrangement can carry 6 people at ease, with their luggage in the leg space. It is not unusual to see these vehicles greatly overloaded, especially in outer suburbs and around markets.
Currently, Tuk Tuk in Cambodia is being developed to be more convenient and safer. It is also becoming a popular form of transportation for Phnom Penh residents:

Bicycle Ride along the Siem Reap River for a scenic city and rural countryside tour, Cambodia
On our last day in Siem Reap, Cambodia we woke up early to go on a bicycle ride around town, specifically exploring along Siem Reap River covering both the scenic city area on the right hand side and the rural countryside on the left. Paying just $1 each to rent bikes from our guest house, we hopped on the rickety old bicycles trying to beat the heat and humidity early in the morning. We first passed Temple Garden where we were politely told to get off of bikes and walk. We then hit Siem Reap river where we continued our journey passing inanimate statues of elephants and other animals while encountering a dead rat, Khmer men sleeping on benches and some locals fishing and splashing in the river.

Once we crossed the covered bridge we were on the rural side of the city. The Khmer locals were very warm and friendly to us waving and saying hello. As the only foreigners in the area they seemed surprised to see us pedaling alongside them so early in the morning. Overall, it was a great way for us to spend our last morning in Siem Reap and we'd highly recommend it to you as well.
Hello! We're up bright and early again. It is probably about seven in the morning and today we are doing a biking tour of Siem Reap.
Here we are at our first stop 'temple garden' and we were just politely kicked off our bikes, so a good tip if you're taking your bike you can not explore the temple garden with it. You'll have to get off and walk.
Now we are along the banks of the Siem Reap river which runs through the heart of the city and we are just going to be cycling the length of it. You can see a lot of things along the river. There is a man over there fishing.
Elephants! They're just statues.
Here we are biking along the river. Sam of course is way ahead because he has giant legs. Oh, there he is.
Now that we've crossed the other side of the river we've gone from hotels and restaurants to more rural style Cambodian homes.
Hello, lady!
Puppy, hi!
We've been biking past lots of little communities along the side of the river and the kids have been really friendly so far. They keep running up to us and just waving 'hello' and trying to chat with these foreigners, so let's keep going.

Angkor Wat history
Angkor Wat (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត or Capital Temple) is a temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world, with site measuring 162.6 hectares (1,626,000 sq meters).[1] It was originally constructed as a Hindu temple for the Khmer Empire, gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple toward the end of the 12th century.[2] It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II[3]in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia,[4] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.
Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
The modern name, Angkor Wat, means Temple City or City of Temples in Khmer; Angkor, meaning city or capital city, is a vernacular form of the word nokor (នគរ), which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara (Devanāgarī: नगर).[5] Wat is the Khmer word for temple grounds, also derived from Sanskrit vāṭa (Devanāgarī: वाट), meaning enclosure.
