Cycling the scenic Slocan Valley Rail Trail from Slocan Lake to Passmore and back (60km total distance) on a hot summer's day.

The Slocan Valley Rail Trail is a multi-use recreational rail trail located in the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, namely the Slocan Valley.
The trail uses a rail corridor that was originally built for the Columbia & Kootenay Railway (CPR purchased) which was abandoned by the Canadian Pacific Railway during the 1980s.
This 50-kilometre Slocan Valley Rail Trail is being developed by Tourism BC and the Slocan Valley Heritage Trail Society.

Taken from the nose of unit #2 of 5 on a double-length hotshot (first unit was isolated) this video was taken on the uphill section starting at the Slocan river, going through Shoreacres, and cutting out as I hit my 4GB limit just before the crossing at West Kootenay road in South Slocan. This particular train was almost 4500' long.
This particular section has some 10MPH slow orders on it as well as 20MPH limits, so there's some fun speeding up and slowing down!

GOFAR | Slocan Valley Ride Ep. 3
Finally. After a whole winter of hibernation I have finished my Slocan Valley Ride video that we did back in October. Don't know why this one took so long but it is in the can.
It was my first major ride on my new bike. 2013 BMW F800GS and because I got it late October, it was almost literally my last.
I had met up with a new friend Adam Baker whom I met through IBAR, International Brotherhood of Adventure Riders. If you are an adventure rider of any ability you should check them out on Facebook. They are a great community for off road enthusiasts.
I hope that you enjoy my video and the music. My goal for the 2015 season is to add more adventure into adventure riding. More scenic rides and more challenging terrain. Many spectacular shots and maybe a little more purpose and story to the video.

Sandon of the Silvery Slocan

Provincial Educational Media Centre, follows the history of Sandon, capital of the Silvery Slocan in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia north of the City of Nelson and lying between New Denver and Kaslo on Highway 31A, was the heart of the silver boom in B.C. and now lies one of the most famous ghost towns of the West Kootenays.
