1992 UFO sighting of Southaven, NY uncovered
The following has been researched by filmmakers of Fight On Entertainment.
On November 24th, 1992, locals around Southaven Park on Long Island saw an unidentified flying object at 7pm Eastern time. Over the next few days, only Federal level agents from a local lab were allowed in the park to take something out of the quarantined park. This is what information we have been able to gather from that occurrence, which will be the basis of the short and feature films: Return to South Havin!

Montauk Penisula: Nature At Its Finest...
The Nature Conservancy describes the incredible natural beauty that is Montauk, NY.
Just 100 miles from New York City, the Montauk Peninsula boasts an amazing range of habitats: maritime beaches and dunes; coastal and maritime forests; grasslands; shrublands; and fresh, salt, and brackish wetlands.
Ecological Importance
The Nature Conservancy identified Montauk Peninsula as a high conservation priority through an ecological assessment of the North Atlantic Coast Ecoregion, which extends from southern Maine to New Jersey.
Montauk is special because of its large, high-quality blocks of functioning ecosystems that support viable populations of six globally-rare species, five globally-rare communities, and seven high-quality common communities. At least 35 natural communities are documented on the peninsula.
Conservation Concerns
The critical threats to Montauk Peninsula’s biodiversity are invasive species, fire exclusion, and incompatible recreational uses.
Invasive species such as common reed, Japanese honeysuckle, and the marine macroalga reproduce rapidly and can form stands that exclude nearly all other plants. They displace natives, alter ecosystem processes, and hybridize with native species, changing their genetic structure. Native species with a limited range or small population size are particularly vulnerable.
Fire has been a historic component of the landscape on Montauk Peninsula. However, the decreasing use of fire over the last 75 years has allowed woody succession to occur throughout the site’s rare maritime grasslands. As a result a diverse assemblage of native grassland species is being replaced by a relatively few common weedy species, and by shrubs and trees. The Nature Conservancy has collaborated with agency staff to reintroduce fire to Theodore Roosevelt County Park.
Second homeowners and visitors are drawn to Montauk Peninsula’s ocean beaches. The Hamptons, which include the Town of East Hampton, are a popular resort destination for the New York City metropolitan area. Increasing pressure for recreation (e.g., as all-terrain vehicles, hiking, and horseback riding) in public areas creates fragmentation and disturbance, which facilitate colonization and spread of invasive species.
Within the terrestrial units most of the land is publicly owned. Theodore Roosevelt County Park and Montauk Point and Hither Hills State Parks are partially developed and managed for recreation, and State Parks is considering developing a museum and public camping facilities within Camp Hero. Nearshore activities in the Marine Zone of the site include recreational uses, dredging, and shellfish harvesting.
Strategies and Action
The Nature Conservancy envisions Montauk Peninsula as a land- and seascape that can weather natural phenomena like fire, erosion, and salt spray. To accomplish this and to sustain the area's biodiversity, we are using the following strategies:
•
Conserve two-thirds of the land area in conservation ownership, primarily in two blocks of contiguous native vegetation.
•
Manage the land through a productive working relationship between public and private stakeholders.
•
Preserve estuarine and near shore marine waters surrounding the peninsula.
•
Concentrate development in currently developed areas, and contain compatible human uses of the land for minimum impact to the ecosystem.

Brazil, Italy, US: Memorials commemorate mysterious airplane crashes
With investigations still underway and little insight gained into the fate of the Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people that vanished on Saturday, the search for the truth continues. From terrorist attacks to power failures, pilot suicides to aeronautical black holes, the theories abound; but this is not the first time an aeronautical incident has perplexed experts.
On June 27, 1980, all 81 people on board the Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870 lost their lives when Italian DC-9 jet plane crashed en route to Palermo from Bologna. The crash was shrouded in mystery until last year, when Italy's top court ruled there was abundantly clear evidence the carrier had been struck by a missile. The Museum for the Memory of Ustica was opened on June 27, 2007 and displays parts of the plane, yet nobody has been brought to justice for the alleged crime and the perpetrators remain unknown.
A black granite memorial also stands erected in Smith Point County Park in Shirley, New York to commemorate the 230 passengers and crew who lost their lives on July 17, 1996, when the Trans World Atlantic Flight 800, a Boeing 747, crashed shortly after taking off from John F. Kennedy Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board led a four-year investigation which determined the cause of the incident as an accidental fuel tank explosion.
A memorial overlooking the Atlantic Ocean also stands in Rio de Janeiro's Leblon district, dedicated to the 228 passengers and crew on board the Air France flight 447 that crashed en route from Rio to Paris on June 1, 2009. A two-year search for the Airbus A330's black box ended in 2011, resulting in an investigation which attributed pilot error in responding to malfunctioning air speed sensors as the cause of the plane's crash.

Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

My Life After 44 Years In Prison
Otis Johnson went to jail at the age of 25. When he got out at 69, he rejoined a world that was starkly different from the one he remembered. This is his story.
Last year, we met Otis Johnson at a New York City shelter for ex-convicts. Everyone there was trying to get their feet back on the ground. Otis had just got out of prison after serving a 44-year sentence. The last time he had seen his family was May 1975.
When we shared Otis's first story of being reintroduced to the modern world, viewers were amazed by just how unfamiliar everything was to him. iPhones, Times Square, jars of pre-mixed peanut butter and jelly ... everything was new or starkly different.
INTERACTIVE: My life after 44 years in prison. The story of Otis Johnson
His story clearly resonated with people. More than 12 million people watched Otis' story on YouTube, and we wanted to show them what happened next.
We went to Asbury Park, in New Jersey, with Otis to try to find them. Reconnecting with family was something he had said he was always interested in doing, but hadn't got round to yet. After all, he was still learning how to navigate the city. He had a small box where he kept old, tattered photos of family members, but that was basically all the information he had on them.
The only address I really have is Asbury Park, Otis told us. So we took the train to Asbury Park not knowing much.
But we did have Otis' memory. Once we arrived at the train station and began roaming the streets, small things about his old home slowly came back to him: extended family members, friends, shops. He wanted to find his aunt, Dottie Moore, and some other family members. He said many would probably think he was dead.
When we talked to Otis about his relationship with his family, his answers were complicated. He was a member of the Fruit of Islam (the paramilitary wing of Nation of Islam, the Islamic religious movement once famously led by Malcom X) in his younger days. The Nation of Islam's stated goals were to improve the spiritual, mental, social, and economic condition of African Americans. Otis was a devout Muslim who said he helped clean up the streets of drug dealers.
We wasn't all bad, he would say.
But Otis said some of his family members didn't buy that. He didn't know if they would be angry or happy to see him after all these years away. He had a nervous energy about him as we walked down Pine Street, knocking on doors and asking strangers about Dottie Moore.
This final story on Otis Johnson is one of reconnection and reconciliation. It is the story of a man on a quest to reunite with remnants of his past and one, we hope, many can relate to.
