South African History 1652 -1902 Culminating in the Anglo Boer War & Battle at Spion Kop
Online history video on the battle of Spion Kop, the bloodiest battle of the Anglo Boer War in South Africa 1899 - 1902, where Winston Churchill reported that up to seven bombs per minute were landing on top of the Spion Kop mountain with massive clouds of orange lydite and that the British soldiers in the trenches were being blown to atoms. Known as the 'Acre of Massacre', it remains the smallest piece of ground on which more men lost their lives in a single battle than any battle fought anywhere in the world… and it is here, witnessing what the human race was capable of, that the seeds of Mahatma Gandhi’s passive resistance took root. Leading up to this moment in history are some of South Africa’s major historical events going as far back as 1652, including:
The arrival of the first settlers in South Africa and the origins of the Afrikaner people
Conflicts in the history of South Africa: 1652 – 1902
Black/White and British/Boer conflicts in South Africa: 1652 – 1902.
The British after burning many Boer farms set up concentration camps where disease was rampant which resulted in 29 000 Afrikaners and over 20 000 black people; men, woman and children dying in these camps.

Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), Cape Town / Interview with Mark Coetzee
The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) in Cape Town, South Africa, is the first major museum in Africa dedicated to contemporary art. The Zeitz MOCAA collects and exhibits twenty-first century art from Africa and its Diaspora. The museum has its home in a repurposed historic Grain Silo complex at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, it features over one hundred galleries.
In this video, we speak with the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the museum, Mark Coetzee, who talks about the significance of the new museum, the goals and the basic concept of the Zeitz MOCAA, and the exhibition program.
“…our mission really in a nutshell is to collect, preserve, research and exhibit cutting-edge artifacts from the 21st century from Africa and its diaspora…”
(Mark Coetzee, Executive Director and Chief Curator, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa)
In the run-up to the opening of the Zeitz MOCAA in September 2017, VernissageTV had the chance to have a look at the new museum and speak with the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the museum, Mark Coetzee, and the museum's Curator at Large for Photography, Azu Nwagbogu. We also interviewed the artist Nandipha Mntambo, whose early career retrospective is one of the opening exhibitions of the museum, and David Green, the CEO at V&A Waterfront.
Interview with Mark Coetzee, (Executive Director and Chief Curator, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa). Cape Town, South Africa, July 5, 2017.

WELCOME to CAPE TOWN - CITY CENTRE TOUR ???????? - 2019 vlog
You've seen the views of Table Mountain and the beaches, but what about Cape Town's City Centre? In this vlog, we are traveling to Cape Town's City Centre to uncover the highlights of the city.
We travel to the oldest building, the Castle of Good Hope, built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company. We also visit the High Court Civil Annex, which has benches which are remnants of the apartheid.
We also visit the colorful Malay region of Bo Kaap where the houses come in every single color imaginable.
Lastly we cross the peninsula 30 minutes away to Muizenberg, a beach-side suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. The beach is famous for its colorful beach huts.

The Age of Exploration: Crash Course European History #4
The thing about European History is that it tends to leak out of Europe. Europeans haven't been great at staying put in Europe. As human beings do, the people of Europe were very busy traveling around to trade, to spread religion, and in a lot of cases to try and conquer other people. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Europeans developed a bunch of tools and techniques that would allow them to travel around the world, in numbers and force heretofore unseen on the planet. And a lot of the results weren't great for the people who already lived in the places Europeans were visiting.

Orania: South Africa's whites only town

Inside South Africa's glitzy new modern art museum
This weekend, a stunning new museum opens in Cape Town, South Africa. The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art - also known as the Zeitz MOCAA - is Africa's first modern art museum. While the breathtaking structure is considered groundbreaking by some, others find it elitist. Debora Patta reports.

Things To Do In Cape Town | Stellenbosch | South Africa
#SouthAfrica #CapeTownRestuarant #TravelVlog
Stellenbosch is a university town in South Africa's Western Cape province.
It's surrounded by the vineyards of the Cape Winelands and the mountainous nature reserves of Jonkershoek and Simonsberg.
The town's oak-shaded streets are lined with cafes, boutiques and art galleries.
Cape Dutch architecture gives a sense of South Africa's Dutch colonial history, as do the Village Museum's period houses and gardens.
Not to mention the great atmosphere and friendly people who are always smiling skating and traveling around this beautiful town with bicycles

Lilongwe Central & Crafts Market - Malawi, Africa
David's Been Here is in Malawi's capital of Lilongwe, where David tours the city's central market and crafts market. Walk around the tight quarters and crowded stalls selling everything from fruits to clothes, but make sure you bring a guide with you! David explains the semi-hectic scene of traversing the central market, which for some might be a bit overwhelming to experience. Heading off to the more subtle market of the two, David displays the various carvings, souvenirs and trinkets that you can pick up at the Lilongwe Crafts Market. With intricate masks, animals, globes and more being hand carved right in front of you, you shouldn't have a shortage of things to buy at this more touristic market of the two.

Township Lessons from the Cape of Good Hope | Gangs, Race and Poverty 20 years after Apartheid Doc
Produced by Michael Fischer | mvided |
«Township Lessons from the Cape of Good Hope» (2014) tells the story of people living in the Cape Flats area outside of Cape Town, South Africa 20 years after Apartheid.
How do township residents in slums cope with crime, unemployment and poverty in a country still very much struggling with racism, underdevelopment and inequality?
If you want to support the portrayed NGO and their projects in Lavender Hill, they are happy to receive your donations:

Hope you guys enjoyed the first episode to my YouTube series that I have decided to start.
The motivation behind starting this series is because; possibly my biggest mission in life is to walk the most untrodden path on this planet and yet still despite all odds rise to the top. And being in the industry I am passionate about - finance, this is even more unheard of. Because as we all know the path to success in finance is so traditional that walking a different path is way out of the norm. I'm doing this to be an example to those who don't want to follow the trend and to those who are different to show them that they can also do it. So I have decided to start The Untrodden Path series for your entertainment and to document this whole path and have you guys follow it along with me.

After hours of negotiation and pleading with immigration services, Kitt and Luke are finally cleared to land in South Africa. But, we cannot get hold of them. We've been calling them for hours. What happened?
My kids are finally cleared to land in South Africa but they are still stuck in Paris.
In December of 2016 we decided to take a vacation to South Africa as a family with six of our friends. We were a group of ten. We spent the whole month touring the country. We visited Eastern Cape, Hermanus, Cape Town, Johannesburg. We stayed at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Constantia and Bloubergstrand. We hit all the tourist spots: Table Mountain, Robben Island, Cape Point, townships of Khayelitsha and Gugulethu. In Johannesburg we went on a safari. We saw our family and friends. We had an awesome time.
