Sri Somanatha Someshwara Temple is located near Someshwar beach in Ullal, at a distance of about 13 kms from Mangalore. Because of this temple, this place is called as Someshwara.
It is a beautiful Shiva Temple located near the sea shore. This is One of the most famous temples of Mangalore situated right at the sea shore with a wide beach view.
Normally morning & evening time is good to visit the temple. Evening time is best if you are planning to visit the beach also. One of the temple approaches has a staircase climb, one might have to look for the alternate approach to go up towards the other entrance to avoid the climb. You can take your vehicle up and park it there.
The view from Temple is awesome, there are rocks to sit and beach is clean. Tides are high most of the time, so avoid swimming here.
The temple is not much crowded, It is a calm and peaceful place to enjoy with your family. There are huge rocks on the beach which is unlike other beaches which give a standout view for this place.

Ullal (Tulu: ಉಳ್ಳಾಲ, Kannada: ಉಳ್ಳಾಲ Uḷḷāla, Beary dialect, Konkani language: ಉಳ್ಳಾಲ) is a City Municipality in Mangalore Taluk in Dakshina Kannada district. Ullal town is one of the oldest towns in India. In the 15th century it came under the rule of the Portuguese. It is a small town about 8–10 km south of Mangalore city center close to the border between the two southern states of Karnataka and Kerala. It comprises two revenue villages, Ullal and Parmannur, in Mangalore Taluk. Ullal is adjacent to City Corporation of Mangalore, 10 km from District headquarters. Most of the people in Ullal belong to either Beary or Mogaveera ethnic group.

Someshwara Temple Agumbe
Someshwara is a small town located on the foothills of Western Ghats in Karkala Taluk, Udupi district. Someshwara is located at a distance of 46 Km from Udupi on Udupi - Agumbe Road (State Highway 65). Someshwara is also junction of roads that lead to Kundapur, Shimoga and Udupi.
Located very close to the picturesque Agumbe Ghats, Someshwara also boosts its beauty by the flow of river Sita.
We get Someshwara temple in Agumbe on the way to Udupi. The temple has many years of history and now it has been newly renovated. It is in an attractive & peaceful place. The temple priest has told temple history and sevas which you can watch in my video. Nearby there is an important temple dedicated to Mahaganapathi.

Someshwara temple is one of the oldest and most revered places of this city. This temple was built during the Chalukya dynasty and from then it evolved as a great religious place. The major features of this place are the surroundings and the of course the idols of Chatrubhuja and Mahishasur Mardini which are very old and were established here by the Chalukya ruler. Lots of people visit this temple during the Ganesha Chaturthi festival which is celebrated here. This temple is surrounded by lush green grasslands and beautiful plants which add an aura to the place.

Someshwara Temple:
Built in 14th Century and is a fine example of Vijayanagara style (Dravidian Style) of architecture.
The temple is well maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Lord Shiva is worshiped in the form of Someshwara in this temple.
One of the main attractions of this temple is the Kalyana Mantapa (wedding stage). The art on the four pillars of the main stage is extremely beautiful. It is influenced by Chinese, Thai and Europian architecture.
Kolaramma Temple:
Kolaramma temple which is only 5 mins walk from Someshwara temple.
Goddess Parvathi worshipped in the form of Kolaramma.
The temple built by Cholas during 11th century.
Another important deity here is Chelamma (Scorpion Goddess). It is a belief that Chelamma protects a person from scorpion bites. In the room next to main shrine, images of Sapthamatrikas are kept.

Very beautiful unique 11th century old someshwara temple near Hubballi .
The Someshwara temple is an important sacred place in South India.It is about 50 KM from Hubli.
Built in the 11th century AD & it represents the Chalukya style of architecture .
There are 16 bell-shaped decorated pillars.
The temple has the idols of Shiva and Parvati riding a Nandi (the bull) in the sanctum sanctorum.
It is interesting to note that it is the only temple in Karnataka with such a rare idol of Shiva and Parvati on the Nandi.
This east facing temple has a large Rangamandapa which has three entrances, west, south and north.
These entrances are adorned with porches on outside.
. The engineering skills of the builders of that time is evident, as on the day of Ugadi, (the new year), the sun’s rays fall directly on the deities.
A legend has it that Adayya, a devout Shaivite had come to Lakshmeshwar from Kashmir. He had married a Jain woman called Padmavati. As a devotee of Shiva, he had vowed to bring to Lakshmeshwar an idol similar to the one in the famous temple of Somanath in Gujarat.
Adayya undertook the arduous journey and returned after 22 days. He got a replica of the idols from the Somanath temple. Made it and he installed the deities at the Someshwara temple. It was the idea was to introduce Somanatha in Lakshmeswara hence it was referred as Dakshina-Somanatha.
