20 Things to do in Chiang Mai, Thailand Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Today we’re taking you around a city that we’ve been to many times before: Chiang Mai. Located in the heart of Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a growing city with laid back vibes, temples sprinkled around every corner, and a foodie scene that will make you drool. This is a destination where you come to unwind and that’s exactly what we did during our month long visit. Now let’s get started with this tour of Chiang Mai (清邁) so you can see what this city is all about:
One of the best things you can do in Chiang Mai is ditch the map and get lost inside the old city. It’s along the quiet back lanes that you’ll find cozy cafes, terracotta gardens, unvisited temples, and a little flavour of the old Chiang Mai.
As you’ve probably figured out, we’re not really into nightlife, but Chiang Mai does have lots of bars where you can enjoy a drink or two. We kept things light with a Chang beer.
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand. We hope this video gave you a little taste of what this city is all about. We’ll be the first to tell you that we barely scratched the surface in terms of everything Chiang Mai (清迈) has to offer, but that being said, the goal of our time here was to relax, eat well, see friends, and catch up on work. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do, places to visit, and restaurants to eat at, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below. Until next time!
This is part of our Travel in Thailand video series showcasing Thai food, Thai culture and Thai cuisine.

Unique and RARE THAI FOOD in Chiang Mai, Thailand! | Best Restaurants in Chiang Mai Tour
SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos every week
T-shirts and caps:
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - In this video I’m going to show you a mix of restaurants and street food in Chiang Mai - and everything a little rare, unique, or unheard of. We ate a one of a kind satay in Chiang mai for breakfast, had rare Thai food for lunch, and amazing seafood for dinner - but seafood in Chiang Mai? I’m going to share all the restaurants with you here.
Beef satay (เนื้อสะเต๊ะใต้ต้นข่อย) - For breakfast we went to a small street food stall serving a unique type of beef satay (เนื้อสะเต๊ะ). It was cool to sit down right where they were being grilled and eat stick after stick. The beef was so juicy, but the sauce was a little sweet for me.
Price - 5 THB ($0.15) per stick
Saiyut's Kitchen (ครัวอาจารย์สายหยุด) - This is a top restaurant in Chiang Mai that serves a mix of high end, Royal, and old family Thai recipes. Here are the main dishes we ordered:
Saeng wa goong (แสร้งว่ากุ้ง)
Nam prik kai boo (นำ้พริกไข่ปู)
Chaw muang (ช่อม่วง)
Kratong tong (กระทงทอง)
Karawaek sodsee (การะเวกสอดสี)
Room (หรุ่ม)
Chiang da pad kai (เชียงดาผัดไข่)
Khao yam (ข้าวยำ)
Pla tod samoon prai (ปลาทอดสมุนไพร)
Gaeng ranjuan (แกงรัญจวน)
Mee krob Chaowang (หมี่กรอบชาววัง)
The food was overall quite good. It’s not always my personal favorite type of Thai food, but I did enjoy the food here, and the presentation and history. Food is more on the sweet side than spicy side. Well worth trying when you’re in Chiang Mai.
Total price - 1,725 THB ($52.31)
Lerd Rote Tai Rom Ma-Feuang (เลิศรสใต้ร่มมะเฟือง) - Finally on this best restaurants tour of Chiang Mai we decided to go to a restaurant that many locals from Chiang Mai recommend for seafood. Yes, I was a little hesitant to eat seafood in Chiang Mai, considering its distance from the ocean, be we went for it. Turned out to be quite an amazing seafood meal, although expensive, it was delicious.
Shrimp chilies salt (กุ้งพริกเกลือ)
Tom yum fish (ต้มยำปลา นำ้ใส)
Black pepper crab (ปูผัดพริกไทยดำ)
Total price - 2,000 THB ($60.65)

A comprehensive trip report from a 3 and a half day trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand
DOI INTHANON DAY TRIP from CHIANG MAI // Wonderful Eco Tours // Full-Time Travel
Finding a day trip package that DOESN’T involve elephants or tigers is difficult in Chiang Mai! Fortunately we found Wonderful Eco Tours which offer a one day trekking adventure through Doi Inthanon National Park. This day trip doesn’t involve any animals but includes vegan food for lunch and yummy local coffee! They also pick you up (and drop you off) right at your hotel. The price was reasonable as well at 1400 baht per person. Just book online and pay in cash when they pick you up.
Check out Wonderful Eco Tours (we did ‘One Day Doi Inthanon National Park + Trekking’):

Experience Thailand: Chiang Mai
Have you heard of Chiang Mai? This beautiful city in the mountainous parts of northern Thailand was once the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. While the empire is no longer around, Chiang Mai continues to reign as a destination for travel in Thailand.
Visitors from all over the world have made their way to this gem in Thailand’s north for lavish temples, bazaars, locally made arts and crafts and elephant sanctuaries.
While the possibility of discovering old traditions, historic architecture and ancient culture is part of Chiang Mai’s allure, this 700-year old city established by King Mengrei in the 13th-century is also filled with more modern attractions too. An exciting metropolis has developed around the Old City.
Foodies will love Chiang Mai’s blossoming culinary scene, and design lovers will find unique creations and art being showcased in spaces that are every bit of the 21st-century. In December of 2017, UNESCO awarded this Chiang Mai the title of Creative City.
During the day you can spend your time taking in the Chiang Mai’s past, present and future by observing a mixture between the intricate art that adorns the beautiful old temples and exploring the contemporary art and design scene.
Once the sun goes down the city comes to life with night markets, buzzing bars, hip restaurants and hubs for street-food. A little bit outside the old city walls and bustling cosmopolitan area, you can explore idyllic villages and peaceful countryside, beautiful waterfalls and other beautiful scenery.
It’s time to start planning your escape to Chiang Mai, a land in the north where Thailand’s past, present and future come together and create an experience like no other!

Chiang Mai - I Love You | Thai Adventures, Finding Balance, & My Holiday | Sanne Vloet
Chiang Mai Is A Must Visit For Anyone Who Loves Nature | Thai Adventure In The Jungle On A Motorcycle, Finding Balance In My Relationships, & My Favorite Holiday Yet | Sanne Vloet
Hey Guys,
It's a whole new year with a fresh start for everyone, but for those of us who have committed to wellness this new year it is a great chance for us to keep improving on our positive habits! I say this every year, but I feel like 2018 flew by. I hope you guys can share your New Years Eve stories with me, Max and I unfortunately ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. We were on the beach and no one warned us that they were about to set off fireworks right next to where we were sitting. Luckily, we got out of there in one piece, but our night didn't go as planned.
Did any of you get ready with me for NYE last year... lol, get it? I will link the video just in case some of you haven't seen it or want to see it again. Today I am sharing some of my travels with you in Thailand. We were in the air for over 24 hours, but we arrived in Paradise. If anyone has been to Chiang Mai, what was your favorite part? Next time I come I want to visit Chiang Rai because I heard it is just as beautiful, so let me know if you have ever been there.
It is breathtaking in Chiang Mai, the mountains are endless and the roads are winding, but we managed to tour the Thai capital of the North on a motorcycle and had a little adventure. One of you left a funny comment she keeps coming back to Asia and that is so true. There is something about Asia that keeps drawing me back, I just can't stay away, I LOVE IT HERE! If you haven't visited Thailand you should add it to your list.
Part of the reason I wanted to come here again is because for me, Thailand is the perfect place to zone out and chill, to unplug from the world, and connect with yourself in a way that is hard to do back in New York City. My life gets busy with travel, work, videos, and even friends so my major goal for this holiday was to recharge and enter the new year with a ready and fit mind.
I hope you guys are enjoying my travel vlogs. You guys may not realize how much fun these are to make, I love being able to create and share with each and every one of you. If you are enjoying these videos give me a thumbs up and don't forget to let me know.
For anyone that isn't subscribed, hit that subscribe button, and join us as we tackle 2019 together. There is so much strength in our little community and I can't wait to get this year started. Here's to another year of adventures, fun, and growth.

Top 10 Things to Do in Chiang Mai, Thailand
Top 10 Things to Do in Chiang Mai, Thailand
TRAVEL HUSTLE REPEAT GEAR ►
MY FILM MAKING KIT ►
Today we are exploring Chiang Mai, the largest and most visited city in Northern Thailand. It’s also Thailand’s most cultural city. People come to explore its temples, food, markets and its fun-loving culture. Chiang Mai means “new city,” it got its name when the Kingdom of Lana moved its capital from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai in the year 1296. Now come with me as we explore the top 10 things to do in Chiang Mai!
First stop is Wat Chedi Temple in the old town. This temple has two parts, the new temple and the ruins of the old temple that date back to the 15th century. People believe that this is where the Emerald Buddha was first kept before moving to Bangkok. Its free to explore the grounds and it’s a must visit in the old town of Chiang Mai.
The one thing you have to do in Chiang Mai is get a foot massage. Head to Loi Khro Road, a street that is full of massage parlors. The best place to get a massage is at Young and Beautiful massage. A half hour foot massage costs 80 baht or $3. It’s definitely worth it!
Next up we head to Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar. It starts at sunset and ends at midnight, and is open every night of the year. Its 1 km in length, you can do some shopping, eat some food and enjoy one of the main attractions of Chiang Mai.
Wat Phra That is a temple located on Doi Suthep mountain. It’s a 30-minute drive to the entrance of the temple, and from there you must climb 200+ steps to the top. The walk isn’t so bad because of all the vendors selling fruits, shakes, food and souvenirs. From the temple you get incredible views of Chiang Mai.
Another night market you have to visit is the Sunday Market. It is the biggest market in Chiang Mai and it receives over 100,000 visitors in high season. You can buy everything here, including decorative masks like I did.
Warorol Market is Chiang Mai’s biggest whole sale market. It is a huge complex full of vendors selling souvenirs, clothing and food. You need to try Chiang Mai’s pork sausage, the most famous dish in the city. It’s very spicy!!
Now we head to Tiger Kingdom, a Tiger sanctuary. These tigers are all born in captivity, they eat twice a day and are cared for by veterinarians.
Bo Sang Village is a small community that creates bamboo umbrellas. Visit the handicraft center to see how they create these beautiful umbrellas from start to finish. Afterwards you can do some shopping and don’t worry about paying for extra luggage on your flight, because they will ship the umbrellas anywhere in the world! I had four of them custom made and shipped to me in the U.S.
Lastly, we visit the Elephant Nature Park, an Elephant sanctuary located about a 45-minute drive north of Chiang Mai. They have 47 elephants that were rescued from the logging and trekking industry. Lek Chailert, is the found of the sanctuary. She started working with elephants in 1992, then in 1995 she started her first sanctuary. Her goal is to educate the world about the situation with the Asian elephants. There currently are no fences so the elephants can roam wild 24/7!
