1880 Town Murdo South Dakota
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another adventure. I got to fulfill a childhood dream of mine this week... I got to play Cowboys & Indians at 1800 Town in Murdo, South Dakota! After exploring this cool live museum with original old structures brought in from all over the state, we learned we could dress up in period garb. I told Alvin & Amy that they were going to dress up too, even though they were really hesitant to do so. I had the great idea to act out robbing a bank, and I found a family willing to join in our fun. I also acted out a gun duel with a German man. One of the employees showed us a jail cell that was all out of doors, except for a tin roof. Glad I didn't get thrown in there after the robbing the bank, haha! There were some bulls & cows nearby that I went over to get a closer look at. One of the bulls was none too happy that I was trying to coax the calf closer to the fence! It was definitely crazy that only a wired fence separated us! The carriage ride throughout the town was cool too; I even got to drive us for a time. Amy took a turn too. If you are ever in South Dakota, or near South Dakota, or have a whim to dress up as a cowboy or Indian and feel like you're back in the day, you MUST come to 1880 Town! It was absolutely amazing!

1880 Town South Dakota
A complete town in South Dakota that was assembled from original buildings that were purchased throughout the west and then relocated to this site. All the buildings are presented in their original function. Every building is also stuffed with artifacts that would have been used during their time period. The site also has many of the original movie props from Dances With Wolves. This place is a must see if you are in this area. Hope you enjoy the video.

Some pics I took in 1880 Town in South Dakota. These are actual buildings from the 1800's moved here. There are many props from the movie Dances With Wolves here also, including the two mules used to take the Lt. Dunbar to his post on the frontier. Buck who played Costner's horse Cisco died in 2007, and I have included a photo of his grave.

Coastin' America: 1880 Cowboy Town
In Buffalo Hills, South Dakota lies a replica 1800's cowboy town in a small gas station off the highway. In this Cowboy Ghost town lies tons of creepy animatronics, evil dolls, and bathrooms from hell. All the perfect ingredients to a classic road trip stop.

A note about license plates:
I was planning to blur license plates throughout this video. I am a huge privacy proponent and as such I want to respect the privacy of others. Blurring the plates is pretty easy to do, although it is very time consuming and tedious on a video this long. However, I looked into the implications of this and actually found that there is a law protecting motorist’s privacy in effect since the mid 1990s. The law makes it such that the only information that an average person can obtain from knowing your plate number is the year, make and model of the vehicle. That’s it. A license plate cannot be used to learn the owner’s name, address, or any other information. As such I decided that going through the extensive project of blurring the moving plates on all of the camera feeds (even with motion tracking) just wasn’t worth the effort since it really isn’t a privacy concern anyway. I will still blur plates anyway just for good measure on short clips or wherever it’s practical enough to do so.
