Suicide Forest in Japan (Full Documentary)
The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year.
The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently.

73-Year-Old Tattoo Artist Is A Legend In Japan
Horiyoshi III, given name Yoshihito Nakano, is one of the world's most legendary full-body-tattoo artists. The controversial history of Japanese tattooing, or irezumi, can be traced back to around 10,000 BC, in the Jomon period. The Japanese government banned tattoos in 1872, as while the practice had risen as an art form, tattooed marks were still used as a punishment. The ban wasn't lifted until 1948, but the practice has retained its image of criminality. For many years, traditional Japanese tattoos were associated with the yakuza, Japan's mafia, and some businesses in Japan and public baths still ban tattooed customers.
Yoshihito's most devoted clientele are covered in full-body designs. Until 30 years ago, Yoshihito did his tattoos entirely by hand using the tebori technique, where a needle-tipped wooden or metal stick inserts ink into the skin. Nowadays, due to health and time constraints he completes them freehand using an electric needle. His clientele is now mostly westerners, attracted by his popular Instagram.
We met Yoshihito to talk about his career, and meet some of his client base.

Unique Japanese Street Food tour in Kamakura (鎌倉) + Travel Guide | Tokyo Day Trip Video Transcript:
It is time for another day trip. Today we have left Tokyo behind and come to Kamakura (鎌倉). Which is a coastal town about 1 hour south of Tokyo. We hoped on the Shonan-Shinjuku line (湘南新宿ライン) and paid 920 Yen to get here. Also this place is known as the Kyoto of the East because you have a whole bunch of temples to visit. So our plan today is to temple hop and also enjoy lots of street food.
We are currently walking down Komachi Street and this is the place to enjoy street food. However it is still a little bit early in the day. It is just past 10 am and a lot of the shops are just opening up and setting up there food stalls.
So our plan of action is to go visit the temple (Hasedera Temple - 長谷寺) at the end of this street and then we'll come back with an even bigger appetite and enjoy some street food here in Kamakura (鎌倉).
We didn't waste a single minute after visiting the temple. We just hustled back to where we were earlier. The street that is just lined with street food stands.
So I found something that I've been wanting to try. Since we arrived in Japan this is a mochi ball stuffed with custard (いちご大福). With a strawberry on top.
Sam was certainly a bit more adventurous with his choice. Yeah, when I say this little omelette with mini fish (whitebait - 釜揚げ)しらす) I'm like I've got to try this. This is one of the most visually interesting pieces of Japanese street food I've ever seen. Yeah, and this was 250 Yen.
It is ice cream time. It is ice cream time. I've been waiting to try some unique flavors. Yes. This is about as unique as it gets. Black sesame with soy milk (黒ゴマのアイスクリーム). Yes. And they've even put sesame sprinkles all over it. Yes. This place specializes in all things sesame.
We've been trying to figure out what kind of souvenirs we're going to get from Japan. And we haven't bought anything. Chopsticks. Wooden spoons.
We had our food and we are now on our way to go see the Great Buddha (鎌倉大仏 - Kamakura Daibutsu). So basically we walked back to the train station. Kamakura station and we got on the Enoshima line and it was three stops over to Hasey.
Our last temple. We are currently visiting Hasedera Temple (長谷寺). And we paid 300 Yen per person. Also because it is June and hydrangeas are in bloom they gave us this special ticket. It is a numbered ticket. So basically I guess you line up and you can walk along the path and enjoy the beautiful flowers in bloom.
It has been a long day. Well well we are heading home. It was a long day. Mostly because of the heat but we saw some really cool temples. We ate some delicious street food. And yeah now we are going back to Tokyo. But if you are looking for a fun day trip Kamakura (鎌倉) is certainly worth it.

Modern-old Japan mud house: smart & bioclimatic on a budget
To bring natural homes into the 21 Century, architect Tono Mirai designed “Future House”: a home that blends earth building and traditional joinery with modern design. Located in Miura, Kanagawa (about an hour and a half south of Tokyo), this fusion home was built for a businessman and his wife and 3 children.
The client wanted a healthy and natural home as an escape from his daily commute to Tokyo, but wanted something modern. Mirai designed a home oriented to the south so that its earthen floors and walls (of traditional Japanese mud plaster) can act as heat sinks for the winter sun. He built vents into the outer walls to naturally control the flow of air.
The extensive living roof also acts as an insulator. Mirai calls it a “very natural way” to insulate, noting that the temperature difference between outside and inside the roof can be more than 10 degrees.
With all the passive solar and natural venting, the home doesn’t need AC or heating (beyond a small wood stove) and it delivers a natural air quality and “peacefulness” requested by the client.
【4K/ASMR】「Rainy night in Chinatown, Japan」- 横浜中華街 散策散歩
Yokohama Chinatown is located in Yokohama, Japan, which is located just south of Tokyo. Its history is about 160 years long. Today only a few Chinese people still live in Chinatown, but it has a population of about 3,000 to 4,000. Most of the residents are from Guangzhou (Canton) but many come from other regions.
Yokohama Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in Japan (larger than Chinatowns in both Kobe and Nagasaki) and it is one of the largest in the world. There are roughly 250 Chinese-owned/themed shops and restaurants scattered throughout the district, with the highest concentration centered on a 300 square metre area. - Wikipedia

Fine autumn afternoon, bright skies...Typhoon Hagibis hits Japan
맑고 청명한 가을, 주말 일본 태풍 영향
Good afternoon, fall is a welcome time of transition in Korea. Leaves are changing colors... in fact, Mount Odaesan is experiencing its peak foliage period right now. Those of us in the central region will see the autumn colors from next week.
The breezy morning will warm up fast, leading to wide temperature differences, while the east coast will see light rain.
Meanwhile, Japan braces for Typhoon Hagibis. The mega-storm is the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane, and its eye alone is 55 kilometers wide. The typhoon is expected to strike wide areas of eastern Japan, including Tokyo, this weekend.
Due to the indirect effects of the typhoon, a high seas watch has been issued for waters off Jeju, while a strong wind advisory will be issued along the east coast. A high seas watch is projected to be issued soon for the East Sea and waters to the south of the peninsula.
That's Korea for you and here's the international weather for viewers around the world.

Japan Train Bento Top 8 Must-Buy at Tokyo Station | Japanese Street Food Tour
Japanese Street Food Tour and Japan Train Bento / ekiben Top 8 Guide at Tokyo Station. This Tokyo Guide shows what Shinkansen Bento to buy when at Tokyo Station for Japan travelers. This Food Tour of Tokyo Station reviews eikiben food shop options and recommends my favorite Japanese bentos. Street Food in Japan is amazing and the Japanese food offered at Tokyo station is a must try.
Tokyo station is one the main transportation hubs connecting local and shinkansen train lines. But what a lot of people don’t realize, is that Tokyo station has some of the most incredible food shops in Tokyo. And some of the bentos are a must pickup, before getting on a long shinkansen train ride.
Basically, there are 4 main bento shopping areas at Tokyo station. Ecute Keiyo Street, South Court Ecute, Ekibenya Matsuri and Gransta. Gransta is on the basement floor, while the other 3 are on the 1st floor.
Bento (弁当 bentō) is a single-portion take-out or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box.
Containers range from disposable mass-produced to hand-crafted lacquerware. Bento are readily available in many places throughout Japan, including convenience stores, bento shops (弁当屋 bentō-ya), railway stations, and department stores.
Ekiben (駅弁, railway boxed meals) are a specific type of bento boxed meals, sold on trains and train stations in Japan. They come with disposable chopsticks (when necessary) or spoons. Ekiben containers can be made from plastic, wood, or ceramic. Many train stations have become famous for their ekiben made from local food specialties (tokusanhin).
Ekiben were first sold in railway stations in the late 19th century, and developed at a time when meals on train were necessary during a long train journey.
Tokyo Station (東京駅 Tōkyō-eki) is a railway station in the Chiyoda City, Tokyo, Japan. The original station is located in Chiyoda's Marunouchi business district near the Imperial Palace grounds. The newer Eastern extension is not far from the Ginza commercial district.
