The Heritage Flag Company - Our Story
From Barrel to Banner: Backstory of the Heritage Flag
purchase a flag at theheritageflag.com
The Heritage flag is a product and symbol of the American dream. As a fourth generation entrepreneur, Heath Trigg started his own business; Premier Properties after college in 2006. While building custom homes in Pinehurst, North Carolina his next dream was to start a subsidiary company for custom cabinetry and woodworking and founded Southern Pine Woodworking in 2012. With this company he took on a project of designing and constructing the taproom for the Southern Pines Brewing Company. The 3 men behind this new brewery were Third Group Special Forces members and in the four months that Heath worked closely with them, he saw first hand the way their years of Army training transferred into their daily drive and determination and into the systems that founded their company.
Heath hand made the first whiskey barrel American flag in his downtown Southern Pines, North Carolina cabinet shop in late September 2014. He crafted it as a gift for the owners for Southern Pines Brewery. He thought it the perfect way to honor the men, not only for their service but also for their entrepreneurial spirit that is a vision of the American dream. Now called The Heritage Flag, each one-of-a-kind flag serves as a tribute to the men, women and their families who selflessly serve our nation and protect our freedoms.

A TOWN WITH NO TWAIN I MEAN TRAIN OR BOTH
I am looking for my great grandmother on my mother's side of the family (levert)
She was married to my great grandfather Mike Levert who came from St Andre Avelin Province of Quebec original from the States.
Her married name was Margaret Raymond
Her mother's maiden name was Annie St.Jean who married Louis Raymond which made her Annie Raymond by marriage, and at birth Marguerite (my great grandmother) was named Marguerite Raymond.
Margaret Levert wife of Mike was born in 1865 in North Dakota ? and died in Timmins ON. Canada in 1935.
The Funeral arragements in 1935 were by Chenier Funeral Services at the time. She was 70 years old.
My great grandfather and grandmother Mike and Margerite Levert lived on the Airport road at the corner of Sandy Falls road in Timmins.
When he died he married a much younger woman and she got the farm and all.
MY great grandmother Margaret was apparently from North Dakota a Cherokee Indian descendant.
Her burial information has been lost in the Timmins cemetery and I'm trying to locate her grave site.
The song is about a man who comes back home for a visit realizing things are not the same. He knows to come back someday and spend his remaining years here in his home town. And like Elephants come home to die so will he,someday.
TOWN WITH NO TRAIN
The old home town doesn't look the same
since they tore out the old train
The railroad tracks are now asphalt at the station
Now the railyard's a new library
a parking lot where was Doran's Brewery
as I get off the bus in this town with no train
The T.V. Station is the pits
it's been dismantled bit by bit
and the Maple Leaf Hotel is just a memory
And tho still stands the head frame of the mine
Ghost miners still pace the picket line
as I walk the streets in this town with no train
Chorus:
And I can still hear mother callin me
from the old house on hillside street
come home son the shadows lenghten fast
And I can hear that coal train whistle blow
near Mascioli's sand pit where I roamed
as the snow falls on this town with no train
Verse:
Now I awake and look around me
at the Welcome Home hotel
realizing time had past and I'm much older now
And tho the end of Pine Street beckons me
the bone yard of what used to be
where they'll lay me down in this town with no train
Chorus:and end.

Westbend Vineyards of Lewisville NC
Before North Carolina vineyards reached the hundreds, before their wines got national acclaim and before the industry became a tourism draw across the state, there was Jack Kroustalis and some land the so-called experts said could never grow grapes. Little did the Westbend Vineyards founder know that he would be making history by planting the Yadkin Valley's first vinifera grapevines.
Throwing caution and the advice of state agricultural agents to the winds, Kroustalis planted the roots of what is now a thriving industry statewide when he began growing grapes in 1972 on his property in Lewisville. To the astonishment of many, several of the vines flourished. More acreage was planted and, by 1986, Kroustalis found he had grown to a 70-ton grape harvest.
“Westbend” became a commercial bonded winery in 1988. The first Westbend wines, made from traditional European grapes, were released in June 1990. Early on, Jack set out to get Westbend wines into local restaurants and retailers. Soon, Westbend wines were carried in well-known restaurants such as the Angus Barn and large retailers such as Total Wine and Harris Teeter.
Then came national attention. Westbend picked up favorable press in such publications as Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. As far back as 1995, Robert Parker, widely acknowledged to be the most widely known and influential wine critic in the world and founder of “The Wine Advocate”, stated “One of the South's best kept wine secrets is Westbend Vineyards in Lewisville, North Carolina.
In 2005, Westbend expanded by purchasing a 25 acre tract adjacent to the existing vineyard. The newly acquired property included a hand-sewn log home, the Joel Benjamin Hauser House.
The “Hauser House” is made from hand-notched logs and was constructed by J.B. Hauser and his wife Margaret in 1850. Extensively renovated and expanded in 2008, the home is now a multipurpose event center and meeting facility with kitchen, vaulted ceilings, fireplace and a private covered deck overlooking the vineyards. The venue can accommodates up to 175 people for weddings, banquets, and private parties.
Long known for its weddings, other Westbend events began to flourish. Art shows, car shows, concerts, private parties and other special events became commonplace and drew large crowds.
Seeking to expand their demographics and increase their customer base even more, Westbend took notice of the rapidly growing microbrewery business. In February 2012, after extensive research, Westbend invested over $350,000 to became only the second winery in North Carolina to offer locally-brewed craft beers. With its five-barrel state-of-the-art brewing equipment “Westbend Brewhouse” began by offering five year-round brews plus seasonals. It was an immediate hit.
Sadly, Jack Kroustalis passed away in 2006 at age 74. Lillian and their son Alex have carried on the family business ever since. Now, this historic winery and brewery has been made available for sale. Contact MidStreet for more details.
