Bandar Foods: Indian Flavors With An American Taste
Indian flavors with an American taste is one way to describe Bandar Foods, co-founded by Dan Garblik and Lalit Kalani. Bandar Foods is located in San Francisco.
Garblik shares how they created their hot monkey sauce while studying for their MBA at Wharton. And that little side project of theirs became the foundation of Bandar Foods. They worked on their products for a couple of years. Once their products hit the grocery shelves they worked on creating other products besides the monkey sauce. Today, they have a small range of products that are available in leading grocery stores on the West and East Coast of the US.
Garblick shares why they decided to move their company from the East coast to San Francisco and why they went the convertible note route to raise money from their investors.

FAQs - the more you ask, the more you know. :)
- How old are you? - I was born in 1988, so if you're reading this in 2015 then I'm now 27.
- Where do you live? - Bangkok, Thailand
- Where are you from? - A small town in England, UK, called Burton-On-Trent.
- Why did you move to Bangkok? - When I started my job in retail back in the UK I said I would only be there for 3 years because I didn't want to get stuck there. 3 years later the day finally came to move on and I didn't know what to do next; so why not Bangkok?
- Before you moved to Bangkok had you been there before? - Yep, for one whole day.
- What do you 'do'? - By day I work as a self taught marketing, design and technical manager.
- What do you do for fun? - I take photos, scuba dive, learn to rock climb, arrange Meetup events in Bangkok, and do some traveling.
- How did you get a job in Bangkok? - I found it pretty difficult to get a job in Thailand that wasn't teaching, especially with no formal qualifications (see 'did you go to university' below). For the first year I studied Thai language and I did free work for some charities. I said yes to helping out a lot of people and learned a bunch of new skills which opened up more opportunities.
- What Ray-Bans do you wear? - Most of the time I wear the white gold limited edition Ultra Wayfarer released in 2009.
- What cameras do you use? - For vlogs I use a Canon S120 and sometimes a GoPro Hero 3.
- What editing program do you use? - Final Cut Pro on Mac
- Did you go to university? - I studied photography at university for two years before I decided to quit.
- Wait, why did you quit university?! - In college I took two photography courses back to back for 3 years and found that university was basically learning the same stuff all over again. I got bored, frustrated and knew that I'd prefer to learn things on my own.
- How long do your vlogs take to edit? - Usually around 3+ hours.

Jianbing is the BEST Chinese Street Food EVER
Jianbing is the BEST Chinese street food there is. Hands down. Even if you disagree with me, I know deep down you WANT to agree, because jianbing is a gift from the heavens. Well, not really. It's a gift from the Shandong Province dating back 2,000 years, when Chancellor Zhuge Liang told his soldiers to use flat copper griddles and shields for cooking after they lost their woks. The result: the soldiers won the battle and jianbing was born!
I used to live in the Shandong Province, where jianbing grows on trees... That was just a joke. But it feels that way, since jianbing vendors are on almost every street corner, and it's so outrageously cheap (~$0.50 per jianbing)!

Why parrots can talk like humans
Monkeys are our closest biological relatives, and they can't speak. But parrots don’t seem to have a problem at all.
This video is presented by Wix:
Become a Video Lab member!
In 2016 researchers released a study with an incredible headline: monkey vocal tracts are speech-ready. It showed that monkeys are held back from speech not by their bodies, but by their brains. But if that’s the case, what’s the deal with birds?
Parrots are known for their ability to mimic human speech with incredible accuracy. It’s jarring to hear an animal so vastly different from us speaking our language. So how do they do it? Partially, neurology: parrots are wired for communication in ways other animals (including other birds) are not. But it’s largely physiology. Birds are uniquely equipped to make sounds, and this video will give you a basic overview of how that works.
Throughout reporting this piece I had several conversations with Dr. Irene Pepperberg – If you’re interested in the neurology of these birds, I highly recommend checking out her studies on African Grey parrots. I’ve linked to a few of them below:
Evidence for Conceptual Quantitative Abilities in the African Grey Parrot: Labeling of Cardinal Sets
Acquisition of the same/different concept by an African Grey parrot: Learning with respect to categories of color, shape, and material

Giant Snake Attacks on Humans
Over 25% of the men have been attacked by a giant constrictor snakes. These man eating pythons have swallowed dogs, pigs, monkeys and even men as they have plagued the Agta for centuries.

Thomas Headlands Research
It was a warm dark night. 6 month old Nini slept quietly in her crib with her older brother and sister in their hut. Little did she know that she awaken and only child.
Did you know there is a tribe in the Philippines where over 25% of the men have been attacked by a large constrictor snake?
The tribe is the Agta who live in isolated mountain areas of the Philippines and considered the earliest inhabitants of the country
In 1976 Anthropologist Thomas Hedland interviewed the Agta extensively on the subject of giant snake attacks.
Living in such close proximity to these giant pythons makes the Agta more susceptible to attack than most humans forcing them to learn how to defend themselves against the belly crawling beasts.
But even though these monster reptiles feed primarily on small mammals like wild pigs the Agta are a small race of people.
The average Agta tribesman is under 5 feet tall and weighs less than 100 pounds, which means there isn't much difference in size when comparing them to a wild pig.
Thomas and his wife Janet spend over 24 years [1962-1986] among the tribesmen, documenting some amazing reports.
Of the 600 tribal people he interviewed 120 of them.
2 men had been attacked twice, 15 bitten and 11 had permanent scars to forever remind them of these deadly snakes.
Between 1934 and 1973 6 Agta members had been killed by a giant snake attack.
One man was found still digesting inside the body of a massive python.
And perhaps the most tragic incident was the evening a man named Teteng walked into his children's hut.
Something you only see in horror films, Teteng found his son and one of his daughters dead on the floor.
A huge killer snake had one of his children wrapped in it's coils and had began swallowing her head first.
The father pulled out his bolo knife and frantically slashed the snake into pieces, but it was too late...his baby daughter Nini's siblings, were dead.
What kind of giant snake could eat a man whole?
That would be the world's longest snake, a reticulated python.
Now while large constrictor snakes are known for being docile and ambush only predators, Thomas Headland's research shows that in this area of the world, these pythons seem to be much more aggressive than usual.
Thomas Hedland was quoted saying: I’ve lived in the rainforest longer than any American scientist. I’ve seen things out there that I saw in Tarzan movies when I was a kid.
Three or four times, the pythons came into camp and killed chickens. One time, a man saw a snake coiled around his dog, and he killed it was a machete. My wife’s killed one python and I’ve killed one.
The largest python he ever saw was a 23 foot [7 meter] retic that was shot and killed by his neighbor. This was the 3rd largest on record at the time.
This thing is massive, could you imagine living in constant fear of a snake this size coming out of the brush and biting your leg.
Do you think this snake would have any problem swallowing both of those men?

Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie
1982) The song was a cover version of the song Pass the Koutchie by The Mighty Diamonds[1], which deals with the recreational use of cannabis, koutchie being slang for a cannabis pipe. For the cover version, the song's title was bowdlerized to Pass the Dutchie, and all obvious drug references were removed from the lyrics; e. g., when the original croons How does it feel when you got no herb?, the cover version refers to food instead. (The term dutchie has itself become a drug reference; it refers to a blunt rolled in the wrapper from a Dutch Masters cigar.)
The song was first championed by radio DJ John Peel and became an instant hit when it was picked up by MCA Records in September 1983. It debuted at #26 on the chart and rose to #1 the following week, one of a handful of records to have risen to the top spot from outside the top 20.[citation needed] In February of the following year, it reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the USA[2]. The song also scored a top 5 success in the Norwegian Fantastik 50 chart, eventually selling over 4 million copies worldwide. The video, shot partly on the banks of the Thames River in London, across from the Palace of Westminster, was one of the first by black artists to get airplay on MTV.
Pass the Dutchie was covered by the ska band Buck-O-Nine.
The song was sampled by rap group Public Enemy for the song Revolutionary Generation on their album Fear of a Black Planet.
Also, the song was sampled by the American rapper Cam'ron and it was named as the original. The three first sentences of the song have been sampled by the french house band Superfunk in their song The young MC (on their album Hold up').
The song is referenced lyrically on Beck's 1998 album Odelay in the song Where It's At.
The song was used in the soundtrack of the 1998 movie The Wedding Singer.
There is a vocal interpolation of the song in Rah Digga's Imperial from the 2000 album, Dirty Harriet.
In 2005, the song has been covered by Dezil' in French-language under the title Laisse tomber les filles (qui se maquillent), and peaked at #13 in France and #47 in Switzerland.
The song was sampled in the Black Eyed Peas song Dum Diddly from their album Monkey Business.
In May of 2009, Los Angeles based music duo LOONER [5] released Dutchie, their laid back version of the song which lyrically references the main chorus of the original.
The video was directed by Don Letts

Musical Youth are a British-Jamaican pop/reggae band. The group originally formed in 1979 at Duddeston Manor School in Birmingham, England. They are best remembered for their successful 1982 Grammy-nominated single, Pass the Dutchie. The group featured two sets of brothers, Kelvin and Michael Grant, plus Junior and Patrick Waite. The latter pair's father, Frederick Waite, was a former member of Jamaican group The Techniques, and sang lead with Junior at the start of the group's career in the late 1970s. They received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards of 1984.
Silver Clef stars reminisce about the fist thing they ever won
(2 Jul 2012) MUSIC STARS TALK WINNING
Music's brightest stars hit the red carpet for the 2012 Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards in London, Friday night (29 JUNE).
Artists such as Michael Buble, Emeli Sande, Fat Boy Slim and The Manic Street Preachers were all in attendance - and picked up awards - at the star-studded bash.
While they're no strangers to winning prizes, they reminisced about the first time they ever won anything.
I remember winning a six a side tournament at the Easter tournament in junior school and you'd win an Easter egg, shared Nicky Wire of The Manic Street Preachers.
I wasn't too good at football. I won second place in Drouin, the Welsh flag. The Dragon, added band-mate Dean Bradfield.
Former Spice Girl Mel C also picked up her first prize for sport.
I won the hurdles at school, she said. I think I won some gymnastics competitions and stuff.
Scottish singer Emeli Sande - who picked up the Innovation Award at the ceremony - showed musical promise as a youngster:
I grew up in Aberdeenshire and there is a town called Inverurie and every year they had an Inverurie talent show and my friends and I made a group and we won. We won 500 pounds.
For Norman Cook, a.k.a. Fat Boy Slim and Canadian star Michael Buble, their first wins were much more high profile:
It was a Brit with the Housemartins and we were too moody to turn up. Now, now... No we were quite shy. But yeah it was a Brit, said Cook.
The first thing I ever won was a Juno for best new artist and didn't know if I was going to win. I was so excited to win it. I was really freaked out, Buble revealed.
The Nordoff Robbins 02 Silver Clef Awards 2012, list of winners:
Kylie Minogue - 25th Anniversay 02 Silver Clef Award
Fatboy Slim - Investec Icon Award
Emeli Sande - American Express Innovation Award
Conor Maynard - TAG Newcomer Award
The Manic Street Preachers - Hard Rock Caf Ambassadors of Rock
Laura Wright PPL Classical Award

#engvsindia2018 india vs england 3rd test match pre match show by sp cricinfo
Maybe we were expecting too much after that first Test. Edgbaston had put on a certified classic. The type you'd tell yours or other people's grandkids about. More of the same was expected. Yet, by the time the show had moved on to London, the UK had reacquainted itself with rain and a washed out day, then offered James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes peak conditions to make mincemeat of the Indian batting line-up.
No one left Lord's satisfied. Perhaps only England, but even then they arrived ready to trade blows and perhaps left feeling a bit guilty that it was all so one-sided. Cricket needed this to be a real humdinger of a series and there's a worry from fans on both sides and neutrals that it may just peter out. Gah, what a contest this might have been.
Of course, there is still time. Trent Bridge is a result pitch - 2014 was the exception and aberration that proves the rule - and the extra dollop of intrigue with the return of Ben Stokes may just add a little spice to the mix. One anticipates that India fans may give him a rough ride, but the majority of the crowd will be on his side. At least when it comes to the cricket.
On the field, India obviously have their problems to address. Virat Kohli looked like he had just been reunited with a long-lost loved one when talking about Jasprit Bumrah's return to full fitness. On a pitch that gives bowlers a chance, his extra nip and bounce will be greatly appreciated by Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma who had to do it all themselves at Lord's. Even the nets across the square are a bit spicy, as Murali Vijay found out when he nicked off a few times when the support bowlers were encouraged by the surface they were exploiting.
It must be said, though, that even though England hold the aces, they still have issues to address. The top order has yet to fire, which Joe Root explained away by the pitches that have been played on. But Keaton Jennings needs a score to guarantee himself a seat on the plane to Sri Lanka. Ollie Pope, for all the pluck of 28, wouldn't mind a milestone. Then there's Alastair Cook, who does not have a good record on this ground, and Joe Root - both best in show but both wanting that proper heavyweight knock to add to their legacy and get a few monkeys off their back.
Oh and maybe Adil Rashid will get to do something. This ground has been a long-time friend to the seamers, particularly James Anderson. Expect that to continue. It looked a bit green a day out, though not as green as it was on Wednesday. The pitch tends to stay together so batting last isn't too tough an ask. Win the toss, bowl. Don't worry - it'll be nothing like the surface rolled out for the borefest that was the 2014 Test.
Two changes appear certain. Jasprit Bumrah, having regained fitness following a hand injury, should come back into the side for Kuldeep Yadav, while Rishabh Pant is likely to get his debut cap, replacing the out-of-form Dinesh Karthik. India might also be tempted to bring in Shikhar Dhawan for one of KL Rahul or Murali Vijay.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Some people abstain from consuming various foods and beverages in conformity with various religious, cultural, legal or other societal prohibitions. Many of these prohibitions constitute taboos. Many food taboos and other prohibitions forbid the meat of a particular animal, including mammals, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish, molluscs, crustaceans and insects, which may relate to a disgust response being more often associated with meats than plant-based foods. Some prohibitions are specific to a particular part or excretion of an animal, while others forgo the consumption of plants or fungi.
Food prohibitions can be defined as rules, codified by religion or otherwise, about which foods, or combinations of foods, may not be eaten and how animals are to be slaughtered or prepared. The origins of these prohibitions are varied. In some cases, they are thought to be a result of health considerations or other practical reasons; in others, they relate to human symbolic systems. Some foods may be prohibited during certain religious periods (e.g., Lent), at certain stages of life (e.g., pregnancy), or to certain classes of people (e.g., priests), even though the food is otherwise permitted. On a comparative basis food taboos seem to make no sense at all as what may be declared unfit for one group may be perfectly acceptable to another. Whether scientifically correct or not, often food taboos are meant to protect the human individual, but there are numerous other reasons for their existence. An ecological or medical background is apparent in many, including some that are seen as religious or spiritual in origin. Food taboos can help utilizing a resource more efficiently, but when applied to only a subsection of the community, a food taboo can also lead to the monopolization of a food item by those exempted. A food taboo acknowledged by a particular group or tribe as part of their ways, aids in the cohesion of the group, helps that particular group to stand out and maintain its identity in the face of others and therefore creates a feeling of belonging.
