I'll Take Your Camera - Spokane Public Library No Freedom in Public Space 1st Amendment Audit
On a visit to the downtown library in Spokane North Idaho Exposed and I were approached and questioned by a librarian. Then, they all seemed to simultaneausly get on their phones and call the police. The police never showed up. NIE and I waited around for a while in case they did show up. We didn't want the blue line gang of Spokane hunting us down to question us about using our freedom to document our interactions in public. Please LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE!

Walkways Above Spokane - My Day In Spokane 6/7
While I walked around Spokane, Washington's downtown area for the first time, I was attracted to the walkways that cling to the sides of some of the buildings there. Walking above the city streets, I got a good view, and to be honest, it looked like any other American city I'd been to (more or less) except for these walkways!
I'm sure many other cities in the northern sections of the country have these overhead walkways as they provide a great place to get away from snowdrifts, but I hadn't seen them because I came from... shall I say it? ...California.
Yes, I'm a California native, and was born in Oakland. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for many years, then started moving around, so I've also lived in the San Joaquin Valley, the Sierra foothills, and far-northern California: Redding and Happy Camp, which is just twenty miles south of the Oregon border. I was always on a northward journey... so it is only natural that I now live in Northern Idaho.
Spokane is about 25 miles from where I live, but it might as well be hundreds of miles for all the times I get to see it. I have no car anymore (I'm trying to save money by giving up car ownership for a while) and so I don't often get a chance to go into Spokane.
Honestly, it is probably a good thing that I don't have a car and can't go to Spokane often, because if I had one, I'd be spending a lot of money to get to the city more frequently. I do love being in a city and all the cultural advantages of city life.
However, for now, I'm being frugal... so when my friend offered to give me a ride to the city of Spokane to walk around the downtown area while she was working one Friday, I jumped at the chance. Well, almost. Then I changed my mind. Then she talked me into it. So I went (this was on June 6, 2014) ... and now I'm so happy I did. I really enjoyed seeing what's there.
...
In other news, my life has changed drastically in the last week. The Squidoo site that I've been writing for since 2007 is going out of business and all my writing there will be transferred to HubPages. Ouch! This will require many hours of work to improve the pages and make them fit HubPages standards. I have four months in which to accomplish this monumental task. I guess I won't be making any more trips to Spokane or anywhere else for a while.
This puts a dent in my income... one that I hope HubPages will fill. I'm also starting to write at another site, Persona Paper... a new content writing site. Wish me luck? Maybe I should talk about that in another video.

1st Amendment Audit Spokane Sheriff's Training Center - Class is in
A return trip to the Spokane County Sheriff's Training center. This visit was with Rockman Al. Check out his channel in the description. The don't have any problem with us filming the building. However there were some comments this time from afar about us filming training techniques and as usual when here not doing anything wrong there are always a few order followers wanting to give me some attitude. This visit was no different. We were to distracting so they moved there training to a less visible spot. Guess what...camera's have a thing called zoom. We still managed to get their secret training. If they moved because we were a distraction, it was only to the instructors. The order followers in training seemed to ignore us after they recognized we were there.

BookLady at the Spokane Library - My Day in Spokane 5/7
There's not much I like more than being in a room with thousands of books. Oh, seriously, I do love God more, and Jesus, and my family, and being in a place of natural beauty... things like that... also my friends, but being in a library is always so exciting. I love being in a place that houses volumes of human wisdom handed down over the centuries... and human imagination as well.
I didn't spend much time at the Spokane Library but tripped through rather quickly, just to see what it was like. I wasn't going to be able to check out any books, so why stay, know what I mean?
Spokane's downtown library (there are others) is upstairs... that was a surprise to me. It is the first library I've ever visited that didn't have a main floor entrance.
I don't live in Spokane, and have no transportation to get back and forth. I was there for one day only as my friend, who works there, gave me a ride so I could explore the downtown area while she was working. Usually she rides a metro transportation van, so this was a special occasion when she took her own car.
Honestly, as libraries go, Spokane's was kind of plain. I like the library here in Post Falls better, architecturally. I haven't seen the other Spokane libraries though, so maybe they have something better somewhere... I'm not sure if this is the main library or a satellite library.

Spokane - City Moments
Video documents the monotony of getting from point A to point B and the missed moments of interaction with the built environment.
Too often we forget to experience our city; take a moment and have an emotion about the simple act of opening a door or stepping off a sidewalk. How much richer would your life be if you did this?
Shot in downtown Spokane, all moments were documented on Main Street. Video created by Matthew Reeves and Tyler Troutman for a graduate architecture class at Washington State University in Spokane, WA.
Music by Mogwai.

American Police State - Security for the Sheeple
I joined up with North Idaho Exposed on his quest for footage for a couple of stories he is working on. I decided to tag along and do a couple of 1st amendment audits. One of the first places we went was the city hall. I had a conversation with a citizen about what we were doing and his friends car being stolen and the police doing nothing about it. Then after attempting to go down a hallway leading to a pair of elevators we were stopped by the security gaurd as he said if we wanted to go beyond the glass doors and down the hallway we needed a reason to be there. North Idaho exposed didn't understand them correctly and went beyond the doors but then quickly left and came back when one of the security guards asked him to. I spotted a chance to question the security show being put on. PLEASE LIKE, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE!
