DUNEDIN: EXPLORING the beautiful GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE, ST JOSEPH ⛪ (NEW ZEALAND)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a tour of this small but very beautiful Catholic cathedral and I will describe to you, in general terms, the features of the Gothic architecture and style. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. New Zealand is an island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses – that of the North Island, or Te Ika-a-Māui, and the South Island, or Te Waipounamu – and numerous smaller islands. New Zealand is situated some 1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga.

Therefore, when we build, let us think that we build for ever. Let it not be for present delight, nor for present use alone; let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say as they look upon the labour and wrought substance of them, See! this our fathers did for us.
- John Ruskin, The Seven Lamps of Architecture, 1907.

Called South, Diocese of Dunedin
Images of present and past (secularised or no longer in use churches represented by + in the title line) church buildings in the (Anglican) Diocese of Dunedin. As population and NZ religious pattern’s change, more of these buildings may not be used for Anglican worship in the future: as people who respond to God’s call in the south of NZ, we continue to find ways to create faith communities who read the Bible, pray and live out the life of Jesus Christ. I am the daughter of a Catholic priest
An Auckland woman is breaking a half century of secrecy around her father. It's the first time in New Zealand that the child of a supposedly celibate Catholic priest has gone public. We cannot identify her, and have disguised her voice ...nor can we identify the priest, who has died, except to say he had a high profile in the Auckland Diocese. The Auckland woman has spoken with our reporter Phil Pennington.
