YORK MINISTER ENGLAND CLIFFORD TOWER ST MARY'S ABBEY SHAMBLES
EE York Minster, ENGLAND, the historic cathedral church stands at the city's centre. The city centre is nearly surrounded by walls, pictured. To walk the entire circuit (including parts where walls never existed) is about 3 miles. The Shambles is perhaps York's most iconic street. Formerly the lamb-butchers district, it retains most of its feel from around 4-500 years ago. It contains the shrine of Margaret Clitherow, and many gift shops. The city has many museums, including the Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum & Gardens, Richard III Museum and the York Dungeon. The National Railway Museum is situated just behind the station, and is home to the largest static collection of railway locomotives in the world, including the world's fastest steam locomotive LNER 4468 Mallard.

YORK CITY TOUR FEATURING ST MARY’S ABBEY, YORK MINSTER, THE SHAMBLES AND THE CITY WALLS
Yesteryear of York”
Filmed 6th September 2015
Running time: 20 minutes
York is one of those cities I’ve visited previously, but on each occasion I felt I never had enough time to have a proper looking round. Today I spend a whole day in this lovely city and think back how York made a big impression on me when I first passed through as a young boy…..
Filmed in the City of York. Locations include St Mary’s Abbey, York Minster, the Shambles, Clifford’s Tower and the City Walls.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

Listen to a simulated concert in St. Mary's Abbey | Science News
Only ruins remain of St. Mary’s Abbey in York, England. But Damian Murphy and colleagues built a computer simulation to restore the acoustic grandeur of the 16th century church. A recording made in an echo-free room begins the piece. The acoustics of another cathedral, York Minster in England, are applied after 8 seconds, and the music becomes more reverberant. At around 22 seconds, the acoustics is changed to match that reconstructed for the ruined abbey.

St. Mary's Church and Abbey, New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland.
12th century Gothic Abbey Ruin fused with an early 19th century Church. Crypts, secret tunnels, legends and curses surround it's history and there is one headstone there which bears the scull and crossbones, as well as a Leper Squint (hole).....used to feed the lepers without physical contact. It is a beautiful structure and hopefully it will be preserved for future generations to enjoy and learn of their ancestry.

Once the richest abbey in the north of England, it lies in what are now the Yorkshire Museum Gardens, on a steeply-sloping site to the west of York Minster.
