Mass graves POV. Churchfields park St. Mary's. Barnsley, UK
Even it seems like a nice park, you might be stepping on somebody's remains, or more than one's remains. Layers of poor bodies thrown one on top of another... too poor to have a tombstone or a place of their one.
That's the story of 1850's England...
Recently you might step on a dog shit, since the Fouling the land ( Dog act ) is not very welcomed around here...
The (hi)story goes:
A potted history of St. Mary's church new burial ground
Churchfields
The burial ground known as Church Field was originally owned by the Duke of Leeds and is recorded on the 1779 enclosure map as plot number 726. It was opened around 1823 and is believed to have closed in the 1860s so it is probable that the small number of headstones dated about 1750 and some from the early 1800s were transferred there from the churchyard during alterations to the church during the 19th century. Most of the headstones commemorate ordinary townsfolk such as shopkeepers, manufacturers, innkeepers and their families and there were approximately 221 known gravestones. However local historian Eli Hoyle records the total number of burials in Church Field between 1823 and 1859 as 6089 so clearly there were many burials of people too poor to have a headstone.
In October 1832 Barnsley suffered an epidemic of Asiatic cholera which, having made its first appearance at Jessore in Bengal in 1817, had spread throughout Europe and arrived in Sunderland in 1831 from where it worked its way down the country. There were around 295 deaths from the St. Mary's district and many of them were buried in the northwest corner of the ground. The first Barnsley victim to die was the Rev. Thomas Cooper on October 1st 1832, aged 72 years, the second being Dr James Dow. Dr. Dow was born in Neilston, Renfrewshire, Scotland and came to Barnsley in around 1800. He attended many of those suffering during the cholera outbreak but succumbed to the disease on October 9th 1832 aged 57 years. There is a memorial tablet to him in St. Mary's church.
In 1944 the Barnsley Burial Ground Act was passed, paving the way for the adjacent Beckett Hospital to expand onto Church Field; the land was bought and notices put in the local newspapers asking if there were any objections to the burial ground being cleared. Had the work gone ahead the new building was due to be finished in 1948 but eventually it was decided that the site was too small for the new hospital and so the plan was abandoned.
By the 1970s the ground had become totally disused and overgrown with vegetation and in 1976 council workman were brought in to tidy up the site. The undamaged gravestones were lifted and re-laid next to new paths and perios lampposts were installed; trees were treated to prevent Dutch elm disease and shrubs planted in an attempt to bring Church Field back into community use.

Haunted Britain: St Mary's Church, Langenhoe, Essex, England.
Site of the church once famed within paranormal circles as, 'The Most Haunted Church In England'. With links to the even more famous Borley Rectory haunting through the Waldegrave family, this place has some dark and interesting tales to tell. If only its long ago greatness could be glimpsed today through a greater lens than which the murky veiled ponderings of yesteryear provide, and that we were left with more than just the stories and echoes of a place that once was.
But alas, all we have today are the stories handed down, as the church itself has long been demolished. Still, this is an atmospheric location and one that is worthy of a visit. And from its destruction we are left with one obvious question! Was the church really unsafe? Or was it too much bad publicity for an establishment already showing signs of falling numbers, to maintain a religious building with such an infamous reputation? It has been reported that one of the final demolition team stated that the building would have never fallen, insinuating that it didn't really need to be demolished. And it is fact that many other churches have been left to stand in ruinous state, many even being stabilised and made 'safe' to be open to the public.

HAUNTED CONVICTS TUNNEL | Wombwell Woods, Barnsley UK | Paranormal Investigation
For this investigation I have decided to investigate the alleged Convicts Tunnel in Wombwell, Barnsley UK.
The History of the Tunnel is in the 1800's the nearby fields were Camp Sites for Convicts that were being transported to Prison.
Members of the public have said that if your stand inside the tunnel you can hear and feel the train that once passed through. Also disembodied voices have been heard and shadow figures have claimed to be seen.
I definitely feel a presence was trying to make itself known and seemed to want to communicate with my Cameraman Ash.
Something was definitely mocking me and playing around with my equipment not to mention claiming to be 'EVIL'
I would love to hear your thoughts of this investigation and to hear your own personal experiences.

Mayor's Parade 2014. Barnsley, Yorkshire
14th of June 2014... Mayor's Parade, Barnsley Town Centre, South Yorkshire, UK
Pink Cadillac? :)
Very kitsch, to say the least.
Mardi Gras in Louisiana, USA is something else... Uncomparable
Well, if you happen to be in Barnsley ( how can this ever happen? ) you can watch it, if you have nothing better to do :))
The Barnsley Council page ( ) last updated on June 11, 2014, was saying:
The Mayor's Parade takes place this Saturday, 14 June, from 11.30am with its celebration of le Tour and all things French.
With 52 groups entering, totalling over 1,000 people, the town centre streets will be filled with a carnival atmosphere.
Last year thousands of people lined the streets to watch the parade and it's hoped that residents and visitors will once again enjoy the walking groups and floats as they pass by.
As well as the parade there will also be street performances from 'beats archeologist' Turbo Jonez who will take audiences on a musical Journey through time; Balloonatic, a collective of highly talented, beautifully interactive, fabulously dressed performers who take balloon art to the next level; and Issiah and Florence, two magnificent 10 foot flamingos and their ever knowledgeable handler, Harriet Bird.
People are asked note that due to the parade taking place there will be a number of town centre road closures on Saturday, 14 June between 11.15am and 12.45pm.
The roads affected are: Sadler Gate, Church Street, St. Mary's Gate, Eastgate, Royal Street, Regent Street, Hanson Street, County Way, Eldon Street, Regent Street South, Burlington Arcade, Kendray Street, Queen Street, May Day Green, Cheapside, New Street, Hayes Croft, Albert Street, Wellington Street, Market Street, Pall Mall, Wortley Street, Lower Castlereagh Street, Blucher Street, Pitt Street, Peel Street, Peel Square, Market Hill, George Yard and Barnsley town centre.

Maurice Dobson Museum
This short film was produced by students from Sheffield University School of Architecture in November 2015 to promote the Maurice Dobson Museum. This was part of the University's Live Projects initiative where groups of students work with a client on a real life project. For this project the students worked with the Maurice Dobson Museum in Darfield, South Yorkshire to look at how the museum could be expanded. Not only did this look at the building but also the branding, promotion and way the Museum engages with the community.
This project was supported by the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership who are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. You can find more information about the DVLP at discoverdearne.org.uk

ITN NEWS REPORT-100th British Soldier to Die in Afghanistan in 2009 is Buried in Home Town
Members of the public lined the streets as L/Cpl Adam Drane, 23, of 1st Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment, was remembered during a service at St Mary's Church, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Vicar Malcolm Rogers told Lance Corporal Drane's family that the people of Britain were ''proud''.
More than 500 mourners packed into the church, led by Lance Corporal Drane's father Desmond, mother Jacqueline, brother Christopher and fiancée Sian Goodenough.
We know this is one service you never wish to attend, Mr Rogers told Lance Corporal Drane's family.
I hope you know how proud the people of Suffolk, indeed the people of this country, are of your son.
The Ministry of Defence said Lance Corporal Drane would be buried at a private service near his home in Stanningfield, Suffolk.
L/Cpl Drane's parents paid tribute in a written message included in the order of service.
We wish to express our tremendous pride in Adam's achievements, they wrote.
We wish also to honour his chosen profession, which taught him the true meaning of courage and self-sacrifice.
In the course of his duties, Adam died at his post protecting his company and in the service of his country.
Family friend David Pooley recalled L/Cpl Drane in a eulogy.
He said that, as a teenager, the soldier had loved skateboarding and rock music and had wanted to be a soldier since he was a child
