East Preston is a village and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England. It lies roughly halfway between Littlehampton and Worthing. It is primarily residential and a large proportion of retired people, as well as tradespeople and home carers. East Preston comprises the following residential areas. From east to west these settlements are: Kingston Gorse, West Kingston, Angmering on sea, East Preston Village and The Willowhayne.
The original village school building nowadays houses an estate agent firm. It was built in 1840 and started as a Sunday School funded by George Olliver. He received a reward for reporting a farm labourer (Edmund Bushby) for igniting a hayrick for moving the hay about efficiently. The labourer burned the hayrick in protest against farm machinery replacing manual labour. Bushby was subsequently hanged. Over time the building was enlarged into the village school until it was given to Sussex County Council in 1940. There were four classrooms, one very large room, having a curtain divided it into two. There were two separate playgrounds. This building remained as the village school until 1951 when the new school in Lashmar Road was opened.
The Village Stores closed early 2014 due to the recession and the buildup of bigger chains in the area. It had been doing trade in the village for more than 100 years. The famous stage and film actor, Stanley Holloway is buried, together with his wife, at the parish church of St Mary the Virgin having lived in nearby Angmering for many years. Another county dignitary resident in the parish was Charles Boughton-Leigh (1944-2012). St Mary's current Vicar is John Lyon.

Rye harbour, reserve & church
Rye Harbour divides Camber sands from Rye town, and on the Rye side is the Rye harbour nature reserve. As you approach the harbour, on the right is Rye harbour Church. All worth a visit. The reserve is best visited in the winter when it is full of migrant birds.

The Third Order of Saint Francis, historically known as the Order of Penance of Saint Francis, is a third order within the Franciscan movement of the Catholic Church. It includes both congregations of vowed men and women, and fraternities of men and women living standard lives in the world, married most of the time.
It has been believed that the Third Order of Saint Francis was the oldest of all third orders, but historical evidence does not support this. Similar institutions are found in documentation of some monastic orders in the 12th century. In addition, a third order has been found among the Humiliati, confirmed together with its rule by Pope Innocent III in 1201.In 1978, the Third Order of Saint Francis was reorganised and given a new Rule of Life by Pope Paul VI. With the new rule, the name used by the secular branch of the order was changed to the Secular Franciscan Order.

Surrey ( SURR-ee) is a county in South East England which borders Kent to the east, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west, Berkshire to the north-west, and Greater London to the north-east.
With about 1.2 million people, Surrey is the twelfth most populous English county, the third most populous home county, after Kent and Essex, and the third most populous in the South East, after Hampshire and Kent.
Guildford is popularly regarded as the county town, although Surrey County Council is based extraterritorially at Kingston upon Thames.
Surrey is divided into eleven districts: Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley, and Woking.
The London boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth, and parts of Lewisham and Bromley were in Surrey until 1889, as were Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Sutton and the part of Richmond upon Thames on the right bank of the River Thames until 1965, when they were absorbed into Greater London, and the county extended north of the Thames by the addition of Spelthorne, as a result of the dissolution of Middlesex.
Surrey is a wealthy county due to economic, aesthetic, conservation and logistical factors. It has the highest GDP per capita of any English county, some of the highest property values outside Inner London, and also the highest cost of living outside of the capital.
Surrey has the highest proportion of woodland of counties in England. It has large protected green spaces (such as the North Downs, Greensand Ridge and related Surrey Hills AONB and royal landscapes adjoin it — Windsor Great Park and Bushy Park near the River Thames). It has four horse racing courses, and golf courses including international competition venue Wentworth.
Surrey is close to Heathrow and Gatwick airports and the M25, M3 and M23 motorways and has frequent rail services to central London.
