Stevenage is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England. Stevenage is situated to the east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1, and is between Letchworth Garden City to the north, and Welwyn Garden City to the south.
Stevenage is roughly 32.9 miles (50 km) north of central London. Two films were set in and around Stevenage, Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush and Boston Kickout. Spy Game was partly filmed in Stevenage but set in Washington, D.C.. The 1959 film Serious Charge was also filmed in Stevenage.
A small community arts centre is located in the Roaring Meg Retail Park. The Boxfield and Foyer Gallery is situated in the Gordon Craig Theatre, which forms part of the large central Leisure Centre. Stevenage Museum is located under the St. Andrew and St. George's church on St George’s Way.
A distinctive feature of Stevenage is its urban landscape. It has many roundabouts, few traffic lights, a network of completely segregated cycleways, and some of the tallest street lights in Britain. Stevenage is served by the A1(M) motorway. The old Great North Road passes through the centre of the town, and the High Street in the Old Town has several pubs that were coaching inns on this road; it is mostly now classified as the B197. Stevenage is also served by the A602, connecting the town to Hitchin, Watton-at-Stone, Hertford and Ware.
Buses within and to outside the town are provided by several operators, the main within the town being Arriva The Shires. Other operators include Centrebus, Uno, and Cozy Travel. The town is served by Stevenage railway station on the East Coast Main Line, and has regular commuter services to London and Cambridge, as well as connections to the North and Scotland.

New Town (1959)
Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
C/U of a sign which reads: Buses Only - No Entry for Other Vehicles. Pan down to show the modern architecture of the town centre. Over shots of the the bus pulling into a stop the narrator explains how the new town's principle of not allowing cars into town leads to a refreshing lack of traffic congestion. Shot of the free car park - shoppers can leave their cars here and travel into the town centre by bus.
Various shots of the shopping centre of the new town. Narrator observes: Wherever one turns the outlook is gay and eye-catching - it all looks rather grey and concrete bound really. C/Us of a sculpture in the town centre - Franta Belsky's (sp?) Joyride. Continental kiosks contain colourful posters, a grandma shows her two young grandchildren. They walk around the kiosk which is covered with posters advertising idyllic countryside holiday destinations. This seems slightly ironic in the centre of what is supposed to be the greatest environment in the modern world.

Narrator talks of the spaciousness of the new town and compares it with the cramped back streets of many ordinary towns. The rural look of Stevenage has been retained (apparently) by leaving many of the original trees apparently growing out of the concrete. Woman lifts her bike out of a bicycle rack - C/U of the rack - probably an innovative design at the time. C/U of the town fountain and various shots of the clock tower and houses. Narrator ends by saying Here, then, is the design for living of the future. A town planned down to the last nail - planned to be lived in, by eighty thousand of the citizens of tomorrow.
Note: great for showing the big hopes held for the new towns. The place may look soulless but I like it!

Filmed using two Canon EOS-M mirrorless cameras, the fixed one with a Jupiter 11A 135mm f/4.0 lens and the handheld one with a Jupiter 9 85mm f/2.0 lens. Sound was recorded separately on a Tascam recorder and it was all pulled together using the DaVinci Resolve 14 software.

Stevenage /ˈstiːvənɨdʒ/ is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England. It is situated to the east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), and is between Letchworth Garden City to the north, and Welwyn Garden City to the south.
Stevenage is roughly 30 miles (50 km) north of central London. Its population has increased significantly over the last century, the population was 1,430 in 1801, 4,049 in 1901, 79,724 in 2001 and 84,651 in 2007. The largest increase occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, after Stevenage was designated a new town under the New Towns Act of 1946.

Heart of the New Town (Short Cut)
2016 Marks 70 years of the New Towns Act, and the designation of the first New Town at Stevenage. The New Towns Act would lead to the designation of 32 New Towns across the United Kingdom, which today provide homes for over 2.8 million people.
This short film was created by the TCPA to mark these anniversaries and to highlight some of the lessons - good and bad - that we can learn from the New Towns programme as we address today's acute housing shortage and need to deal with challenges such as climate change.

Chiltern Model Railway Exhibition 2020 - Stevenage - part 1 - Saturday 11th January 2020
Early January finds me off to Stevenage for the Chiltern Model Railway Association's Stevenage exhibition 2020.
Part 1 of my film features a whole range of scales from Z to O gauge, British and European models.
I was a bit tight for time (3 1/2hrs!) and didnt manage to get footage of all the layouts - its that big. So, my apologies to the exhibitors of : Aerodrome Park, Freshwater, Sandmarch, Ryders Green Wharf, Bee Road, Feldspar & Shabby Road - I did stop by all layouts, but if little was happening, I had to move on. I will catch you next time!

Today is Tuesday 29 July 14 and I am at my beautiful lake in Fairlands Park, Stevenage UK.
I am doing my ritual for the day getting some exercise and fresh air.
I love summer I took that video this morning some sailing boats on our lake it's just awesome.
There is so much to do in the Summer holidays we have a pool in our back garden.
It's a 10 feet pool nothing huge but it's great for my 10 year old son and his friends.
It's amazing how much fun kids can have. And they meet friends so easy and effortlessly which can teach us a few things. To smile more, always be friendly and do random acts of kindness to anyone you meet it's a great feeling.
There is so much to be grateful for, the walks in the morning, the sun shining on your face, the dogs barking, the geese chasing you lol and the exercise park around our lake is lush with trees and flowers.
When you are feeling down go do your ritual and meet up with young people they are the best to get you inspired and to remember that is just a choice to be happy.
I am so grateful for my son as I tell him if I am stuck on the computer after 5:30 pm he must make sure that I get off and go play with him. Go outside play football, we normally play the best of 15 goals one on one it's so much fun :)
We swim in our pool it's so refreshing and great to escape from the computer and sitting for hours which is not that great for your health. Take a deep breath life is good and if you are struggling at the moment that will soon pass.
Get in the sun it's amazing what the sun can do for you and recharge your batteries.
Life is too short to worry about all the stuff stand up get strong and go for what you want in life and not what others what you to do.
I watched the Lego movie with my son for the second time and wow there are some great success principles in there. Go watch it this will lift your spirit and make you feel inspired, it sure worked for me and it can for you to.
The word is believe, believe that you can do it and then you will achieve your dreams even if you think you cannot achieve your dreams go for it anyway and you might surprise yourself.
Start going for your dreams that help’s your family and the whole world. You can be a world changer imagine that. Imagination is a beautiful thing that’s why I enjoy hanging around young people as nothing is impossible lets go do it and you can do the same.
Go get inspired go get that book and watch the movie and start today to move towards your dreams.
You have what it takes and you can do anything you put your mind to.

Riding Through Stevenage Old Town and Lakes freezing cold today
I have been riding bikes since 1976, my first bike was a Triumph Tiger Cub, after that it was a Yamaha AS1 125 Twin, and then many many more to follow, in my spare time I restore old classics and repair and service bikes for other bikers. I have four bikes at present, a Triumph T140E, Two XS650's One chop and one standard and a XJ750. I will be riding these bikes in my videos.
