Stonehenge Windsor Castle Bath Day Tour from London ???????????????? [VLOG #46]
We purchased the Stonehenge Windsor Castle Bath day tour in London (the one that goes to Lacock, with lunch provided) and created this fun travel vlog for you.
These were some of the highly recommended sites for what to see in London and it really was a great way of seeing multiple things in a short amount of time (we only had one full day in London and wanted to make the most of it!).
While we were at Windsor Castle, we witnessed the changing of the royal guards and seeing Stonehenge, a prehistoric monument dating back to 3500 BC, was my most favorite out of everything. Hope you enjoyed this one!

My luxury visit to Stonehenge
About two hours from London, Stonehenge ( is truly an incredible place to visit. For my first visit, I did a luxury day trip from London in a luxurious new Mercedes E-class from Executive Connection ( I was picked up from my London hotel, and we went first to Bath, then to Salisbury Cathedral and finally to Stonehenge. The driver also served as a tour guide, telling us all kinds of interesting information along the way. Afterwards, he drove us back to the hotel. No waiting, no rushing to catch trains and waiting for taxis, it was seamless and wonderful.

The Astronomy Of Stonehenge | Simon Banton | Megalithomania
The next Megalithomania Conference takes place in Glastonbury, UK on 9th - 10th May 2020. Early-bird tickets available at The astronomy of Stonehenge is a complex and controversial subject. Arguments have raged over the intent and depth of knowledge of the builders ever since the midsummer sunrise alignment was rediscovered in the 18th century, and the discipline of archaeoastronomy is still viewed with suspicion by some archaeologists. This talk will show you where to stand, in which direction to look to see for yourself what the ancients achieved, and will confront the issue of eclipse prediction using the Aubrey Holes. There may be some surprises along the way.
Simon Banton has been an amateur astronomer for over 45 years and was bitten by the archaeoastronomy bug in the mid 1990s. Since then he has been researching humanity's enduring relationship with the celestial sphere. Over a decade ago he moved to Wiltshire for two reasons: the dark skies of Salisbury Plain and the intriguing collection of large rocks in the middle of it. He worked for English Heritage at Stonehenge for 6 years as one of the custodians of - and guides for - the monument, is co-author of an academic paper about the stonehole parchmarks discovered in 2013 and curates the StonesOfStonehenge.org.uk, StonehengeMonument.co.uk and Web.org.uk/BarrowMap websites. Stonehenge Facts & Tour 2019 | Worth a Day Trip From London
We visited Stonehenge by car from London, a super simple day trip, and the tour is pretty impressive in 2019. Here's the facts - the tickets are affordable, they have shuttle buses and plenty of documentary type information for you to read.
Now, if you're a world traveler, and you've seen lots of wonders of the world, including ancient ones, Stonehenge might not be super cool to you. We started to consider the time period it was built, and compared that to the massive civilization that the Egyptians had constructed, to include the great pyramids of Giza, and we weren't incredibly impressed. For some reason, we thought they were much older and their construction was somewhat of a mystery.
Still, considering how cheap it is to visit, and if the weather is lovely, it's totally worth the drive if you want to get away from the city of London!

Stonehenge, England's Famous Prehistoric Monument
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, about 8 miles north of Salisbury. One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks. It is in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.
Archaeologists believe it was built anywhere from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. Radiocarbon dating in 2008 suggested that the first stones were raised between 2400 and 2200 BC, whilst another theory suggests that bluestones may have been raised at the site as early as 3000 BC.
Stonehenge is in a World Heritage Site of over 2000 hectares that is considered one of the most archaeologically rich in Europe. It is home to some of the most important Neolithic and Bronze Age finds and structures in the UK, and contains some 200 scheduled monuments. It is also the site of one of the biggest Chalk grassland reversion projects in the world.
Evidence indicates that the area around Stonehenge has been occupied since around 8000BC, but it was during the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods that the vast majority of the monuments around it came to be built. Early work at Stonehenge itself began in 3000BC when an outer ditch and embankment was constructed, and standing timbers erected. From about 2500BC, Neolithic and Bronze Age man started to bring Bluestones and Sarsen stones from Wales and the Marlborough Downs. It was not until 1600BC that Stonehenge came to be completed. Most of the other monuments in the area such as Durrington Walls and Woodhenge date from the same period.

Breaking the Rules-Stonehenge
This was by birthday week and I had soo many wonderful surprises!
The birthday celebrations began when my connect group with Hillsong Church surprised me with a caterpillar cake which is a traditional birthday cake that British children grow up with.
The next day I went to Salisbury’s Cathedral then the infamous Stonehenge. To me completely honest, my first thought was, “it’s a pile of rocks”.. had to remind myself that for all we know the rocks were moved by aliens..so I guess that’s pretty cool.

Twenty-six countries reported approximately 10,000 crop circles in the last third of the 20th century; 90% of those were located in Southern England. Circles in the United Kingdom are not spread randomly across the landscape, but they appear near roads, areas of medium to dense population, and cultural heritage monuments, such as Stonehenge or Avebury,

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Amesbury and 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury. One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks. It is in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.
The prehistoric monument of Stonehenge has long been studied for its possible connections with ancient astronomy. Archaeoastronomers have claimed that Stonehenge represents an ancient observatory,
The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. .
On 26 November 2011, archaeologists from University of Birmingham announced the discovery of evidence of two huge pits positioned within the Stonehenge Cursus pathway, aligned in celestial position towards midsummer sunrise and sunset when viewed from the Heel Stone. The new discovery is part of the Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project which began in the summer of 2010. The project uses non-invasive geophysical imaging technique to reveal and visually recreate the landscape. According to the team leader Professor Vince Gaffney, this discovery may provide a direct link between the rituals and astronomical events to activities within the Cursus at Stonehenge.
On 18 December 2011, geologists from University of Leicester and the National Museum of Wales announced the discovery of the exact source of the rock used to create Stonehenge's first stone circle. The researchers have identified the source as a 70-metre (230 ft) long rock outcrop called Craig Rhos-y-Felin (51°59′30.07″N 4°44′40.85″W), near Pont Saeson in north Pembrokeshire, located 220 kilometres (140 mi) from Stonehenge.

Amazing views of Salisbury Cathedral from the triforium level
I took an amazing day trip from London to visit Bath, Salisbury Cathedral ( and Stonehenge. I had the opportunity to take a private tour of the cathedral, including a trip up a winding staircase to the second level (clerestory), offering spectacular views of this incredible building. This space, along with other behind-the-scenes areas can be explored on the cathedral's Tower Tour ( which includes a visit to the spire, offering incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
Check out Visit Wiltshire for great info about a visit to the area ( and I used Executive Connection ( car service for a luxurious way to do the trip from London, complete with a driver who also served as a tour guide for the areas between our stops.
