Suga Shrine - Shimane - 須我神社
Suga Shrine, located in Daito-cho in Unnan City, is dedicated to Susano (Susanoo), a powerful storm god and his wife Kushinada-hime (also known as Inada-hime) who both settled there after their marriage and the defeat of the Orochi (Yamata No Orochi).
Suga Shrine is also known as the birthplace of waka, a form of poetry, created by Susano himself. It’s said that Susano, while working on the building, looked up at the clouds and created the following verse: Eightfold rising clouds build an eightfold fence, an eightfold Izumo fence, wherein to keep my bride. Oh, splendid eightfold fence!

Taiwanese Pork Belly Sandwich at Lan Jia Gua Bao (藍家割包) - FAMOUS Taiwanese Street Food in Taipei!
►Download my free street food guide:
Lan Jia Gua Bao (藍家割包) is one of the most popular and most well known street food stalls in Taipei that serves gua bao, a Taiwanese pork belly sandwich. Sometimes known as a Taiwanese burger or hamburger, a gua bao consists of a piece of steamed Chinese bread (similar to the bread that’s used in any Chinese baozi steamed bun), filled with braised pork belly and in this case some braised greens, topped with peanuts and maybe a few extra small seasonings, and then wrapped into the bun and served.
Lan Jia Gua Bao (藍家割包) is located near Gongguan MRT station and just a short walk from National Taiwan University, and so when we arrived the entire street was just packed out full of students - most of whom I assume went to the nearby university. The stall is so popular that it, along with the Taiwanese bubble tea restaurant next door, combine to nearly shut down the entire corner of the street due to the amount of people.
So anyway, the line at Lan Jia Gua Bao (藍家割包) didn’t take too long, and it was soon my time to order one of these treasured Taiwanese pork belly sandwiches. She first took a piece of steamed bread, which was kept hot and fresh on a steamer before being used. Then filled in a combination of half fatty and half meaty braised pork, and then added in some braised mustard greens (I think), and finally sprinkled on some sweet crushed peanuts. She then folded it like a giant taco and served it to me. Along with my gua bao, I also tried their corn soup, another famous thing they serve at Lan Jia Gua Bao (藍家割包). I wasn’t thinking the corn soup would be all that great, but it was actually incredibly good - with a really pronounced corn flavor, and with tender chunks of pork within as well.
After getting our gua bao, we then went across the street to a place called Chen San Ding (陳三鼎黑糖粉圓專賣店), perhaps and even more famous street food stall, known for serving the famous Taiwanese boba bubble milk drink. I’m not really sure if it was really supposed to be tea or not, but this version tasted tea-less, only with the boba bubbles, which had a bit of a molasses brown sugar flavor to them, and creamy milk. Ying my wife really liked it, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Udon Noodles & Unexpected Sake

Table of Contents in this Osaka food video:
00:26 Udon Meal at Sanshu (情熱うどん 讃州) - To begin the day we started with a meal at Sanshu (情熱うどん 讃州), an udon restaurant located near Nakatsu Subway station, not too far from Umeda. We arrived right before they opened, so we had to wait until they opened, and we were the first to enter. The menu was mostly in Japanese, but luckily they did have a few photos in their menu, which is what we used to order from. I got the curry udon noodles, and Ying ordered the cold udon noodles. After tasting both, I would have to say Ying made the best decision. Her cold udon noodles were so refreshing and tasted amazing. My curry udon noodles were also good, but not as good as here. Good way to start our day in Osaka, Japan.
5:25 Nakazakicho - After having lunch we decided to walk around an area of town called Nakazakicho, which is an old part of Osaka that is seeing a comeback with lots of small trendy shops and businesses. It’s a really pleasant area of Osaka to walk around with plenty of things to do and see, and there are some good restaurants in the area as well.
6:00 Lumps Coffee - They told me they named their coffee shop about lumps of sugar, but I saw the unique name, and I had to step in for a cup of drip coffee. The coffee was excellent, one of the best cups of coffee I had when I was in Japan. And they owners were very friendly as well.
7:25 Amerika-mura - After spending a few hours back at our apartment and getting some video editing done, we headed out for the night to an area called Amerika-mura, which is also known as Little America. The area is famous for its young nightlife and its Japanese modern culture. It’s kind of like the Harajuku area of Osaka. It was interesting to walk around, and we stopped at Koga-ryu Takoyaki, a famous stall in the area for takoyaki. The takoyaki was not the best we had, but it was alright.
8:45 Shokudo Diner (心斎橋食堂) - We continued walking onto Shinsaibashi, and after walking around for a while, we stopped at Shokudo Diner (心斎橋食堂) for a quick diner style Japanese food dinner. It was a cafeteria restaurant, so all the food was pre-cooked and you could grab whatever looked good and add it to your tray. The food was pretty good, and just home style dining in Osaka.
11:51 Izakaya at Nakazakicho walking street - I thought our day was over, but Dwight needed to return an umbrella he borrowed a few nights before, so we went to return it and they invited us in to eat some yakitori and we tried a cup of sake. Everyone at the bar was extremely friendly, and it was quite a fun local Japanese Osaka experience.

Chinese Street Food Breakfast
Watch I was wearing
Backpack I was using
Breakfast dishes in China widely differ from region to region. Therefore, it is hard to list all the food that the Chinese eat for breakfast. Here we will introduce some traditional, popular, and famous Chinese breakfast food. These dishes are readily found in snack streets every morning.
This breakfast set usually appears together. The two components are the most common breakfast combination. Some locals also like to have deep-fried dough sticks with rice congee.
Soybean milk is made with a blender. You can find freshly blended or boiled soy milk in disposable cups at most breakfast stalls. It's very convenient for a take-out.
Deep-fried dough sticks are long, brown, deep-fried sticks of dough. You can eat one as it is or dip it in some soybean milk, which has a better taste.
Steamed Buns Stuffed with Meat, Soup, or Nothing..
Chinese: 包子 , bāozi /baoww-dzrr/ 'steamed buns with stuffing';
汤包 , tāngbāo /tung-baoww/ 'steamed buns with soup as stuffing';
馒头 , mántou /man-toh/ 'steamed buns without stuffing'
Taste: salty or sweet
Price: 2 yuan each; steamed buns stuffed with soup are more expensive at 15 yuan for 8 buns
Chinese people eat steamed buns at any meal, but they are especially popular at breakfast.
There is an almost endless variety of flavors, both salty and sweet. Salty flavored buns are stuffed with ground pork, pork, eggs, and vegetables, such as chives. Sweet flavored buns are stuffed with bean paste, , sesame seeds, and sugar. They are also very convenient for a take-out.
Stores can sell steamed buns separately. Usually, two buns for breakfast are enough. Some stores sell steamed buns in a small basket with about eight small steamed buns in it. The price will be about 10 yuan for one basket. These steamed buns are usually called 'small basket buns' (小笼包 , xiǎolóngbāo /sshyaoww-long-baoww/).
