OUR ARGENTINA TRIP STARTS NOW! | Visiting Buenos Aires for 3 Days
Our Argentina trip starts now! The biggest travel and food series we've ever created is kicking off in this travel blog by visiting Buenos Aires for 3 days. Firstly, we highlight our flight from Toronto to Buenos Aires in the dead of winter in Canada arriving in Argentina in mid-summer - a 70 degree weather change!
Our first order of business in Buenos Aires is to grab great local food in Recoleta so we head over to one of favorite restaurants in the city Bodegon Norte to grab a meal consisting of Milanesa, salad, ravioli pasta with a bottle of Argentine wine. We then grab Argentine ice cream (helado) at Rapa Nui including dulce de leche flavour.
We start off day two with breakfast in Buenos Aires at La Biela having cafe con leche with media luna. Afterwards we check out the nicest bookstore in the city, and one of the most beautiful in the world, El Ateneo before grabbing pizza slices at Banchero. We finish the day off visiting Recoleta cemetery one of the most famous attractions in Buenos Aires.
For our last day in Buenos Aires we start off with facturas and coffee for breakfast before heading to Puerto Madero for a stroll and a ship museum. For lunch we have delicious Argentine parrilla (grilled beef) with Malbec wine.
Overall, this was our 3 days itinerary in Buenos Aires. We'll be back again soon!

OUR ARGENTINA TRIP STARTS NOW! | Visiting Buenos Aires for 3 Days:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba + Eating German Food in Argentina
Come join us in as we sample eating German food in Argentina while visiting La Cumbrecita, Cordoba. Having an opportunity to revisit La Cumbrecita, a small town where Audrey spent some years growing up, was one of the highlights of our return trip to Argentina. In this video we show you what the small town of La Cumbrecita is all about in terms of attractions, major landmarks and things to do.
For our meal we end up trying German Food. There is a big population of German, Swiss and Austrian Argentines in this particular region of Cordoba, Argentina. With this in mind you can have some of the best German food in Argentina while visiting this region. We'd highly recommend bringing an appetite as German cuisine tends to be quite hearty.

ARGENTINA: FIRST ELECTIONS FOR MAYOR HELD IN BUENOS AIRES
Spanish/Nat
Over two (m) million people are eligible to vote in Buenos Aires in the city's first mayoral elections this Sunday
Each candidate has promised to improve health, security and education - three of the top worries of capital residents.
Four candidates are running in Buenos Aires' first elections for city mayor on Sunday - a historic vote as until recently, the mayor was appointed by the president.
Standing against current mayor Jorge Dominguez of the Justice Party are Norberto La Porta of the Frente Pais Solidario; Fernando de la Rua of the Radical Civic Union and Gustavo Beliz, a Peronista dissident involved in the New Direction Group
The winner will not be announced until late Sunday.
But private polls favour De la Rua, currently a national senator.
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)
After the many times I have had the honour to represent the people of my city in Congress, I should use the experience so the process of Buenos Aires autonomy can signify a transition to benefit the people who so many times have been mocked and frustrated.
SUPER CAPTION: Fernando de la Rua, Mayoral candidate Buenos Aires
Second place is expected to go to La Porta, with Dominguez coming third and Beliz bringing up the rear.
Each candidate has promised to improve security, health and education should he
win - three of the main concerns of city inhabitants, along with the economy and unemployment.
Despite fierce campaigning by all candidates, the people seem little interested.
VOXPOP:
I believe that for the people the important thing is ending all this. Whoever wins is really not very important to people.
VOXPOP:
Well, we also have to give these new people opportunities - Dr. Beliz, for example.
Buenos Aires residents will also vote for representatives responsible for writing the city's Organising Statutes, similar to a local constitution.

STORYLINE:
Thousands marched on Tuesday in Buenos Aires to mark the first anniversary of the unsolved disappearance of Dirty War survivor Jorge Julio Lopez, whose testimony helped convict a former police chief for of crimes against humanity during the military dictatorship.
Lopez, a 77-year-old construction worker, vanished on September 18, 2006, a day before Miguel Etchecolatz, a former deputy chief of Buenos Aires provincial police, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for homicide, illegal deprivation of freedom, kidnapping and torture.
Etchecolatz was one of the first state security agents tried after a 2005 Supreme Court decision struck down 1980s amnesty laws blocking trials.
Human rights groups including the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, who are still searching for missing children from the 1976-83 military regime, marched to the government house on Tuesday.
They have to keep investigating, he has to reappear alive. If he has died, then we want them to find out why he was killed and bring those (responsible) to justice, demanded Carmen Ramiro, a member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.
We never had real justice in Argentina and the people who were there killing during the dictatorship are still in the army and in the police, said Cristina Cabib, another member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.
Amongst a crowd of about 10-thousand demonstrators, many held up banners with pictures of Lopez and wore white vests reading in Spanish: Where is Julio?
Leftist activists also jointed the protest, raising banners reading Justice now! and One year later: we demand Julio Lopez back alive!
The Lopez family has previously said that they suspect he was kidnapped in reprisal for his trial testimony.
Investigators have said they have no leads and officials have publicly acknowledge they are stumped despite a nationwide manhunt and an ongoing investigation.
Nearly 13-thousand people are officially listed as dead or missing from the Dirty War crackdown by military and police allies on dissent.
However human rights group put the total at close to 30-thousand, from what they call a systematic state campaign of kidnapping, torture and killing.
Anti-government critics in the crowd accused President Nestor Kirchner's government of failing to solve the case.
The Interior Minister said on Tuesday that authorities had never relented in their search for Lopez but searching had so far proved fruitless.
