No Mercy: An investigative documentary by The Oregonian/OregonLive
Tania Culver Humphrey grew up with a renowned father and a terrible secret. While Ellsworth Culver was building Oregon-based Mercy Corps into an international force for good, he sexually abused his daughter for more than a decade, beginning when she was in preschool.
Humphrey eventually told the acclaimed humanitarian relief organization, providing graphic details of her experience and supporting documentation. But her word wasn’t enough. Mercy Corps allowed her father to continue to travel the globe as the charity’s public face.
Now 48 and a mother herself, Humphrey wants Mercy Corps to answer the question that’s haunted her for years: Why didn’t they stop him?

Oregon Gun Grabbers: The Jayne Caroll Show With Guest Dan Sandini
Gun Grabber Ginny Burdick's Tall Tales? All of the legislator's contact information is in the description of the video. Please call and say *No* to all of the bills.
Dan Sandini calling in to the Jayne Caroll show with audio from Saturday's Anti-Second Amendment Town Hall

Sen Ginny Burdick - I talked to a Gun Dealer years ago …

I talked to a gun dealer years ago when I was working on the background checks at gun shows who had the traumatic experience of selling somebody a gun and having them go out on the sidewalk and kill themselves.
So this is a legitimate discussion it needs to be had and it also needs to be had within the context of people who already have guns, and are in crisis, um. I'm sure in my family this has happened before, I'm sure in other families this has happened before when someone is suicidal or a danger to someone else you've gotta separate them from their guns, but it's very *tricky*. You need to put a lot of deliberation into it. But I want you to know I'm working on it, and ah I also want you to know how much I appreciate your support. My District has my back on this.

Rep.MargaretDoherty@state.or.us
Very briefly 72 hours to wait to get a gun permit and get your gun is really not very unreasonable. And so I think that that's something that, you know, that we need to look very, very carefully at. And ah ya you know one term we tried to deal with things like people that have committed domestic violence and so on I think we have done a good job of being very reasonable, in, in, what we ask people to do, and to make sure that, that we do have background checks on everybody. Whether it takes five minutes, or whether it takes *78* hours.
Senator Richard Devlin - Oregon Dems Seek to Pre-Identify Shooters

“...I think we have all been part of that. I think many of us know of this, in terms of looking comprehensively, on how in particular schools and even colleges and universities and look at issues of active shooters and actually trying to *pre-identify* them. Um, I don't know about both Bills, in this particular session if they will pass to be quite honest because there are some Constitutional issues about one of the Bills, not Second Amendment issues, other Constitutional issues. I might refer to my Attorney at the end of the table.

Williamson 6 Months For Background Checks
House Majority Leader
Rep. Jen Williamson
Democrat - District 36, Portland
Phone: 503-986-1436
Email: Rep.JenniferWilliamson@state.or.us
So the Superintendent of the State Police told me that when, when, something doesn't quickly go through the system, eh, there may be a flag. It may be something like a domestic violence, um, restraining order in another county, or in another state. So somebody has to pick up the phone and call that county in that other state and say ... so what was the relationship between these two people. Because I need to figure out if it fits under Oregon Law. And so that's the kind of research we're, um... talking about. He also said that if you call L.A. County to get any sort of record out of L.A. County it takes six months. So there's no way that background check is coming back and there's nothing we can do about it. “

Bob Clay: Interview, People and the Land: Oregon Statewide Planning Goal 10 (2017)
In 2017, Sy Adler, Associate Dean of the School of Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University, and Jim Irvine, planner with the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development and Metro, interviewed a series of key planners and advocates involved with Oregon's Statewide Planning Goal 10, which focuses on planning for and accommodating needed housing in the state.
Bob Clay is a planning consultant in Portland, Oregon who has held senior management positions in urban planning for city, state, regional, and federal agencies since 1973. For the city of Portland, he served as director of the Office of Housing Policy, chief planner for the Long Range Planning and Urban Design section of the Portland Bureau of Planning, and as supervising planner for the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. He has supervised projects in all aspects of land use planning, including growth management and housing policy, environmental protection, urban services delivery, and transit-oriented development.
This oral history interview is part of People and the Land, a collaboration between the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development and Portland State University. For the complete oral history collection, please visit
The goal of this project is to document and preserve a record of Oregon’s land use program through the recording, transcription, collection and archiving of personal oral histories. The project is intended to enable Oregon’s statewide planning agency to make a significant, abiding contribution to the body of literature that records and analyzes the politics, policy, and practices that make Oregon's land use program unique.

Dan Moriarty Talent Reel
Chances are, you've seen or heard actor and host Dan
Moriarty somewhere before. Whether it's on television in
some of the best loved hits of recent television history or
doling out his unique take on sports.
Dan has brought his charming, expressive and energetic
demeanor to acting roles since growing up on the East
Coast; he graduated from Choate, where he first performed
in theatre (played a little hockey, too) and then got a degree
in psychology from Lake Forest College in Illinois. After
turning down a stint to play professional hockey in Europe,
he headed out to LA where he landed roles in wildly
popular shows like Full House, Beverly Hills 90210 and
Who's the Boss, as well as a few films and dozens of
commercials. His time in professional hockey came later,
when he suited up for the Minnesota Wild. His work has
taken him from NY to LA and to far-flung locations as
diverse as Israel and The Marshall Islands. As a host,
you've seen Dan on several different television networks,
including Fox Sports with NHL Cool Shots, ESPN's
American Outback and Versus' Nascar Outdoors and the
PBR. He has an uncanny ability to get the audience
interested and excited about anything he talks about. With a
thorough knowledge of the sports world and an easy
rapport, you can find him on Fox Sports Radio every
Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 and syndicated on
major papers nationwide delivering his Cinecal Sports
commentaries.
Dan Moriarty is based in LA, where he lives with his wife,
the lovely Kiela. He enjoys the occasional Monday sushi
dinners with this daughters and recently upped his fine arts
quota by visiting the Pompeii exhibit at The Getty Villa.
Dan's alternate career path would have been riding bulls in
the Wild West of yore, where the men were tough and the
women were wild.
Casino Tells Jackpot Winners Machine Malfunctioned
More from Inside Edition:
While some people are lucky enough to win big at casinos, the hardest part can sometimes be collecting the winnings. Inside Edition’s investigative team has found people who thought they'd be taking home huge earnings, only to discover that wasn't the case. Katrina Bookman, 44, hit a $42.9 million jackpot at Resorts World Casino in Queens, N.Y. She posed next to the winning machine as it displayed her earnings. As a crowd started gathering around, security showed up.
Godspell at Lakewood Theatre Company April 28 June 11, 2017
Lakewood Theatre Company presents the musical Godspell. Written by John-Michael Tebelak and composed by Stephen Schwartz, the show is a celebration that is spirited, loving, sprinkled with wry humor and bolstered with a rousing selection of songs — rock, folk, country, and pop — all neatly woven in and around the parables and teachings of Jesus. The production sponsor for Godspell is Nicoletta’s Table & Marketplace. The show opens April 28 and continues through June 11, 2017 on the Headlee Mainstage at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Are you too old to mountain bike?
Can you be too old to start mountain biking? Well if you assume that being old means being unfit, then yeah you can be too old to do a lot of things, but of course we know that's not the case.
Just like people of all ages vary in fitness, bike trails vary in difficulty. So if you're fit enough to ride a normal bicycle around town, you'll be fine riding a mountain bike on novice trails. But what if you want to take it further?
I didn’t start riding with Steven until around 12:30, and by then he had ridden the whole morning—after pedaling here from his house. Someday, when I get older, maybe I’ll have as much endurance as he does. Steven is an XC or Cross Country mountain biker. Like Cross Country Skiing and Running, his focus is on endurance and speed. While today’s XC mountain bikes can take the sting out of bumps and drops, they’re stiff and rigid compared to trail bikes. They also have a geometry which puts you in an aggressive, forward position. Steven rides his XC bike over the most difficult trails here, keeping low over jumps and drops to maintain his speed. In the ridiculously humid, midday heat of South Florida, I almost ran out of water trying to keep up with him.
So how long has Steven been mountain biking. (clip) You heard right, Steven started mountain biking at age 55. He was riding the dirt fire road with his son, and was forced into the trails because the path was blocked. The rest is history. Now I don’t consider 55 or 62 to be all that old, but I get emails from people in their 40’s who are wondering if they can start mountain biking. Well, stop wondering, and start riding.
Richard is very well known here at Markham Park.
Besides having a hand in building almost every trail here, Richard tests all the features himself, from rocky descents, to drops, to jumps... especially jumps.
This new table top and berm are pretty easy to session by looping around part of the trail. I saw a lot of people ride this feature today—and here comes Richard.
Richard and I have a very similar riding style, in that we’re not content with just pedaling through the trails. Anything that’s possible to get rad on is fair game. Richard has the right bike for the job too. While Steven’s bike is meant for XC, Richard rides a trail bike with a dropper post, and plenty of suspension travel.
Having ridden motocross for the better part of his life, Richard just can’t stop jumping around. Considering how hurt you can get riding motocross, mountain biking is actually a less risky activity, but that doesn’t make it any less physically demanding. I’ve seen guys my age walk some of the features that Richard pedals right through.
Both Richard and Steven are here at the trails almost every weekend, and indeed there are plenty of people in their age bracket competing at local races. For anyone who participates in action sports this wouldn’t be too surprising. Mountain bikers, surfers, rock climbers, and everyone in between know a handful of people twice their age, out there doing the same thing.
So, besides entering the play area at McDonalds, or being tried as a minor, there aren’t many things you can be too old to do. An activity like mountain biking is a great way to keep your body and mind young. It’s something you can improve at rapidly, and use to benchmark your fitness and agility. So getting back to our original question, I think that you could be too old to not start mountain biking.
Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.
