Tamarindo Costa Rica Travel Guide - Surfing, Sunsets & So Much More | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Welcome to Tamarindo, the second-largest developed beach town in Costa Rica and the largest one in the Province of Guanacaste!
This laid-back town that is today one of the most popular destinations for surfing and eco-tourism was once just a quiet fishing village. The locals are well-aware that tourism is the strongest suit of this paradise-like destination, which is why they are doing their best to make your stay as convenient and magical as possible.
If you’ve ever been to Costa Rica, you know that reaching their beaches is not that simple. However, Tamarindo invested in paved roads to make them tourist-friendly and they built a river bridge and an airport to make this town more accessible. Their most popular attractions are Witches Rock, Playa Grande & Playa Langosta, Tamarindo Estuary and Las Braulas National Sea Park.
If you are looking for accommodation in Tamarindo, we can recommend La Ramona Charming Hotel. They have a beautiful garden and outdoor swimming pool your kids will love. You will have free WiFi and a lovely terrace. Their staff is friendly and speaks both English and Spanish.

Surfing in Tamarindo
Video series by Sveta Soloveva/Ephisode_1
Music by Saylavees (I don't own this music)
In video series “Surfing in Tamarindo” I follow three surfers, Edgar, Anna Olson and Avi Becker.
Having come to Tamarindo from different countries, they are united by surfing culture, and they help me dive dipper into surfing, which makes their home much more than just a small surf town.
Surfing at Tamarindo, or not?
Hi everybody
A couple month ago I stayed in Costa Rica Tamarindo for one moth to improve my spanish.
Where is Tamarindo Beach?
Tamarindo is located right at the beach, is really touristic and is a really fun and famous place for surfers. The town is full of Bars, Restaurants and of course surf shops to rent or buy a surfboard or all the gear needed to catch some of the nice Waves.
I stayed in a student house next to my school, but the prices for apartments and hotels and also all the food and alcohol prices are extremely high in my opinion as a Swiss.
Tamarindo is definetly not a place, if you are looking for something chill and less touristic.
It is one of the most visited hot spots for all the Americans because of the distance. There are coast areas much quieter and less touristic to visit like Playa Santa Teresa.
How to get there?
The closest airport would be the one in Iberia. From there you can either catch a bus or a taxi to get to all the beaches around. I paid around 20 dollars I recall. The ride takes around 30 minutes, it depends where you’re going.
What I didn’t know or think of was, that there are buses that bring you from Iberia to the capital of Costa Rica, San José. It is much more economical to catch a flight from there since the Airport is much bigger. Prices for the bus are really low and it takes you like 5 hours from Liberia to San José.
Even renting a Car would be a nice option to pass by some nice spots like national parks, vulcanos and much more the country has to offer than just surfing.
The food culture is awesome, they have such passion for their local dishes and fruits etc.
South America has so much to offer. Visit the Iguazu Falls in Brazil, go Skiing in the Argentinian mountains or climb a volcano in Ecuador. Taste some real fresh Colombian coffee. Catch the perfect wave at the Costa Rica ocean or go diving in a cenote cave in Mexico. There is no limit!

Wanda and I celebrated our 40 years of marriage this past week in Costa Rica. I had planned on making several videos of the Irazu volcano, Lankester Gardens, Britt coffee tour, my EDC and our hotel. We enjoyed our time so much that I decided not to worry with all the videos. I just made this one video and I'll include several pictures of the things we saw at the end of the video.

Costa Rica - Tamarindo town ride
Cruising through the lovely tourist town of Tamarindo on Costa Rica's northern Pacific coast on January 11, 2011. The song is Do You Love Me by the glorious Guster. Many thanks to them for moving from WMG to UMG so I can finally soundtrack a video with one of their songs.
Hermosa Surf Beach - Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica
David's Been Here presents a video to Costa Rica's most famous surf beach: Playa Hermosa. Translating to the beautiful beach, there's no questioning why so many surfers head to this beach only. With the most powerful swells and the most consistent waves in all of Central America, there's truly no better spot to surf than here. Watch along as David asks some local surfers why they choose this beach over all the rest. Head to this beautiful beach anytime between February and June to beat the rain- maybe you'll even catch a surfing competition. For more information on visiting this famous beach, check out the David's' Been Here Guide to Jaco, also available for your Kindle.

Costa Rica Surf Vacation 1 Costa Rica Surf Vacation
CostaRicaSurfVacation.com
Hello Everyone. Thank you for stoping by our website in search of your Perfect Surf Vacation. Here is the situation on Surfing in Costa Rica. The whole country has awesome surf and many people choose Jaco Beach as their main hub when traveling to Costa Rica to surf, reason being, Jaco Beach Costa Rica is situated in a perfect location. There is Great Mellow Surf right out front, 5 minutes to the south we have Playa Hermosa which is one of the heaviest beach breaks int he country, 10 minutes past that we have Playa Esterillos which is a killer beach break with a nice long board wave on the way out side over a reef. Another hour south or so, give or take, we have one of the best waves in the world. That is all we will say about that. Going North from Jaco beach we first run into los Suenos Harbor which has a killer left hand wrapping runner across this beautiful jungle beac h, then we can hop on a boat and go surf Playa Escondida and get some great reef / shelf tubes running over a beautiful reef. Then we could always shoot north to Caldera and then Boca Borranca. The options are pretty much endless when thinking about planning a surf trip to Costa Rica. We are Surfers and Professional Vacation Planners here on site in Jaco Beach Costa Rica.
