An Afternoon Walk | Sutton Wharf, Ashby Canal & Ambion Wood to The Bosworth Battlefield
Come with us for a walk! This is the first of our Leicestershire vlogs at Sutton Wharf, we walk along the edge of the canal, into Ambion Woods and out the other side at The Bosworth Battlefield, where we will be visiting soon! We hope you enjoy our walk, which sadly we had to cut slightly shorter than I wanted because my daughter's boot broke and kept falling off her foot! So we went back to the lovely cafe for something to eat and drink and to just sit by the side of the river in early Spring! I always forget to mention, if I sound like I am out of breath it's because I have been a registered Asthmatic since the age of 10! Just incase you thought I was about to pass out!!!

Hello! I'm Callie and I recently moved back to Leicestershire from North Devon. Details of Richard III’s final journey have been released
The route for the cortege which will transport the mortal remains of King Richard III from the University of Leicester, via Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre to Leicester Cathedral next March, has been announced.
The remains of the King have been held securely at the University of Leicester, following their discovery under a car park in Leicester in August 2012.
On Sunday 22nd March 2015, a hearse will leave the University of Leicester during the late morning and travel to Fenn Lane Farm, reputedly the site of King Richard’s death, before moving on to nearby village parish churches of Dadlington and Sutton Cheney.
The cortege will visit Dadlington as some of the battle-dead are buried in the churchyard of St James’ the Greater. Sutton Cheney has been chosen because it is believed that King Richard took his final Mass at St James’ church on the eve of the battle.
The Bishop of Leicester, the Rt Revd Tim Stevens, will then lead a short ceremony at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre in the early afternoon. The cortege will then go on to Market Bosworth, Newbold Verdon and Desford as it makes its way back to Leicester.

We started up our narrowboat and left the moorings at Atherstone on the Coventry Canal heading for the wonderful Ashby. A lock free canal that must never be rushed.

Ringing at Stoney Stanton & Broughton Astley
Two Leicestershire eights, mostly cast by Taylors. Stoney Stanton are an easy-going and rather nice set, rung from the ground floor. Broughton are quite hard work, but sound good if you put the effort in. They are very loud indeed outside but have an impressive old-style sound to them.
