Money Can't Buy You Love Inside Britain's Legal Red Light District | Sex, Drugs & Murder - Episode 3
An uncompromising look at the lives of sex workers in an area of Leeds where, if you're buying or selling sex, you won’t get arrested.
The red light zone was introduced to try and make the lives of the women who work there safer. We meet the sisters who work together on the streets, as they talk candidly about how every night they put their lives at risk. And as one of them describes how they were brutally attacked, we ask - is this pioneering experiment is working?

CAROL THOMPSON - Hopelessy in Love (Live 2011 London)
Carroll Thompson
Born 1960, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, England
English lovers rock singer, best known for her work in the 1980s.
Thompson sang in school and church choirs as a girl, but initially studied for a career in pharmacy. In the mid-1970s, she began working as a backing singer at several recording studios after auditioning for Frank Farian's Sugar Cane group.
Eventually, Thompson embarked on a solo career, with early successes in the shape of lovers rock singles I'm So Sorry (produced by the now London-based Leonard Chin) and Simply In Love, which both topped the reggae chart in 1981, the same year seeing the release of her debut album.
She won two GLR Reggae Awards in 1982, for Best Female Performer and Best Song (for Hopelessly In Love). In 1983, she won further awards, again winning Best Female Performer at the GLR awards. She also recorded duets with Sugar Minott (Make It With You) and Trevor Walters (Love Won't Let Us Wait), as well as continuing with regular solo reggae chart hits.
After the mid-1980s, her releases dwindled. Her fortunes revived in 1990 when she provided lead vocals on a version of Diana Ross's I'm Still Waiting, recorded with Aswad and Courtney Pine, which was a minor UK Singles Chart hit.
She also enjoyed minor chart hits that year with Movement 98's Joy & Heartbreak and Sunrise.
In 1992 her Let the Music Play was included on the soundtrack to the film The Crying Game, and in 1993, she worked with Neil Mad Profesor Fraser on the album The Other Side Of Love.Carroll is married to the Radio 5 Live presenter Dotun Adebayo.
Thompson has worked as session singer with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, Boy George, Maxi Priest, Sting, Billy Ocean, Chaka Khan, Aswad, and M People.[citation needed] She is also the co-founder (with Adebayo) of Colourtelly, Britain's first black interest internet TV station.

Lovers Rock (the scrub off wallpaper genre), was British ingenuity at its finest. Crafted by the first generation offspring, the children from the West Indian diaspora. Having grown up under the watchful influence of the motherland, Jamaica, they now began to find their own voice and make their mark on the world as they entered their teenage years. The year was approximately 1975 and Music was the vehicle that instigated this transformation. Lovers Rock symbolised a coming of age, an assertion of independence and a genuine representation of the young, Black, British struggle. Police brutality was rife and this newly cultivated sound offered sweet solace from a society that found them repellent.
They were now young adults. I remember my elder sisters sneaking out to go parties and my Dad (or Mom) waiting woefully with the belt when they got home :) I recall witnessing the emotive power of music for the very first time. As an annoying primary school kid I used to hide behind the settee, eavesdropping and wondering why the teenage girls would cry impromptu when particular songs were played. These were the heartbreak years and Loversrock was the soundtrack.
Often regarded as the poor relation to the matriarchal homegrown Jamaican Reggae, Loversrock is anything but. It's deeply rich and it successfully managed to unify every cultural demographic with its' sugar coated melodies and hooks.
