Forma parte del distrito de igual nombre, junto con las cercanas islas de Taboguilla, Otoque, Urabá, Melones, Chamá y Estivá. Se conoce con el calificativo popular de Isla de las Flores, por su exuberante vegetación tropical, florecida casi todo el año.

Here is a recap of EyeOnPanama.com's weekend of relaxation on Isla Taboga, outside of Panama City. We hit the beach and tasted some delicious food. Most importantly, we simply chilled out.
Taboga Island on a Catamaran - Panama
If you want to have an awesome time on a day trip with great people, I highly recommend contacting Dorothee with Coronado Concierge. This trip to Taboga Island was so much fun.
They hired a private bus driver who drove SAFELY (not something all bus driver's do). We boarded small boats at Punta Chame to get out to the catamaran where we'd spend the day taking in whales, dolphins, birds and we feasted on delicious food.
Got to swim a bit in the ocean just off the island until the winds picked up and the rain came.
The catamaran had to swing around to the other side of Taboga so we could pick up the people who'd gone ashore by boat. Once the stormy weather passed, we made our way back in the late afternoon.

Private Speedboat to Playa Chame and Taboga Island in Panama!
My great friend Michelle has the nicest Panamanian family ever! They were so kind to invite me for a day on their boat to cruise around the beaches and islands near Panama City. We all piled on in the morning and cruised to Playa Chame for some jet skiing, followed by Isla Taboga to relax in the crystal clear water! This was one of the most unforgettable days of my time in Panama!

Paradise - Isla Taboga
Isla Taboga is an absolute must for anyone coming to Panama.
We took the 9h30 ferry from Amador Causeway to the island at a cost of $20 per adult and $14 per child (return tickets). Only a 20 km boat ride on the Taboga Express ferry. As you approach the island you get this wow feeling! “Paradise!”
As you enter the island your bags get searched by Port Authorities, as well as when you leave. We headed straight to the beach. Fortunately, you can rent chairs and umbrellas for the day. Prices ranging from $3 - $12. You can even take your own cooler box with.
I found it quite fascinating that alcohol was allowed on the beach. But (oh how I love this little word…) people were not drunk at all, they were just very jolly, going about their way, enjoying the sun. No bottles or cans lying around. Music blaring from all sides, boats docked close to shore, having a blast. Might be because of the Police officer watching over everyone?
The boys had another first, being able to go on a jetski. ($5 p.p) Now all they want is a jetski! Oh my, we’re really gonna have to buy that yacht. (BTW have a look at the video of some of the gorgeous ones docked in the harbor.)
Something to keep in mind is that you might want to keep change on you. Wanting to use the bathroom or the outside showers to wash away the sand before embarking will cost you anything between $0.75 - $1.00. (p.p) That was the only downside for me, being charged a buck for the ones we used and it does not look as if the money is used toward the cleaning or upgrading of it.
On our way back the clouds looked a bit thunderous, so we stressed that it might be a choppy ride back but thank goodness we made it safe and sound, just in time before the rain. However, at one stage I thought the captain wasn’t looking where he was going and it seemed as if we were heading straight for a big ship. (The ‘close’ encounter can be viewed on the video too) Phew!
We cannot wait to return to the island to explore the town as well. This is an island with a colorful history of Saints, the gold rush, the second oldest church in the hemisphere and the likes of Captain Morgan (Si, THAT Captain Morgan) and many other pirates. I will put a link in the comments below too read about the history.
