Taste of Tasmania
Get under the surface of Tasmania as you explore its diverse landscape - beaches, parks, forests and wildlife.
Much of this pristine wilderness state was – up until around 100 years ago – considered too remote to be used as much more than a penal colony. Fast-forward to now and that environment still remains pristine, but there are a few more creature comforts to make the journey an absolute pleasure. Take in the sights of Hobart and the surrounding area from Mt Wellington, and enjoy the view from other stunning lookouts like Donahy and Marion as well. Discover immaculate UNESCO-listed forests and hike along the stunning Hazards Beach after a morning stroll to Wineglass Bay. There’s plenty of time to explore Tasmania at your own pace and enjoy the vast array of food, wine, history and sights.
Taste of Tasmania 2019
The Taste of Tasmania is a huge event that runs from 28th Dec to January 3rd. We had not really been in for a number of years and were pleasantly surprised to see how much it had changed for the better! It is actually giving Launceston's Festivale a run for its money! which is the event that we had been choosing to go to instead.
There was a such a terrific array of food and drink from around the world and we certainly ate as much as we could fit and afford. If you are lucky enough to be around this beautiful city of ours during this time of the year put this one on your list of must do's!!

STREET EATS AT FRANKO -
PLEASE NOTE: At a time of year when most Aussies would normally be enjoying summer and relaxing with family and friends, the world has been transfixed by the horrors of the Australian bushfires.
The bushfires have already ravaged almost 6 million hectares of land – by comparison, 900,000 hectares of land burned in the Amazon Rainforest last August. To date, millions of animals and more than 20 people across Victoria and New South Wales have died, with fears of a rising death toll as the fires progress.

THE TASTE OF TASMANIA ????
So usually events like The Taste of Tasmania give me so much anxiety. There’s so many people and it’s hard to find a seat. So many food stalls and once you leave your seat it’s gone in two seconds. Thanks to the lovely people at Original Spin for offering free reserved seating tickets, we didn’t have to worry at all! We could come and go as we pleased, getting all the vegan goodness and coming back to our saved seat by the gorgeous waterfront. Some food faves of the day was definitely Harissa and Eden Pantry for their amazingly delicious vegan meals ???? and so good to see Bio Pak for supplying compostable utensils and clear signage for people who aren’t sure how to properly dispose of their rubbish ♻️ such a great day, I am so very grateful and feeling very blessed ????????✨
