Buy A Home in Temecula and Party in San Diego
Living in Temecula is Just a Short Jump to San Diego
It’s true it’s not a short jump to San Diego during rush hour traffic, but Temecula is just north of the San Diego County Line border. When driving conditions are not cluttered by the many Temecula residence that commute to San Diego it can be a smooth relaxing drive to one of the best and most vibrant cities in the country. The major draw of buying a home in the once again exploding city of Temecula are house prices and the continued ability to gain fast equity. Yet another reason to live in the Temecula Valley is your proximity to San Diego.
Recently my wife and I enjoyed a night in San Diego. Our trip was one of many you can take, but we decided to take a trip to the trendy North Park area of San Diego. Our trip started at the best place you can stay if you are coming down to see a show or enjoy the nightlife of North Park. The Laffayette Hotel and Beach Club is beautiful and rare. You pull up to a wraparound driveway, scaling steps and presidential looking giant white pillars. The hotel has been around since 1946 and maintains elements of its past with its beautiful resurgent gothic light posts, white shuttered windows and the molding surrounding the grand entrance.
We entered into a wide open and elongated lobby, with comfortable looking felt chairs and an array of tables and seating areas. The clerk was outstanding, and put us in the best room they currently had available, even though we did not lead with a tip. She was sincere and probably gave us a better guest experience than any clerk had provided us in years. She informed us about the DJ that would be at the pool the next day, and that we could get a wrist bank and stay until five the next day, after checkout, by the pool, which we did. We sat, we read, and we enjoyed an outstanding DJ, while youthful Swim Club members drank and swam…like it was 1946 again. It’s not much of a family spot, but for the adult couple it’s perfect.
That night we went to the Observatory Theater of North Park to see Morrissey. I’m not a big fan of saving all animals or promoting Hilary Clinton, but that guy still puts on a great show, and brings back the nostalgia, and the Observatory is an outstanding venue: small, downward slopping to the stage, and has hip decor, with an adjoining dimly lit restaurant with an outdoor patio. They book great shows and are located in the heart of North Park.
For our late-night dinner, we went with Rigoberto’s, out of the many great eateries on the street. They have fantastic burritos with the soft homemade tortillas and a stocked bar of homemade salsa. It was outstanding. To top it off we went to Rudford’s Restaurant, off of Cajon. It was been around since 1949, has the Big Nick giant burger challenge, where you can get your picture on the wall if you eat it, vinal seats, greasy delicious food, and old, and possibly crazy, people that look like they are there every day. In fact, they have little plastic “In Memory of…” placards on the wall adjacent to most of the booth seating…which made you feel for a moment a part of history, sitting in possibly “their” seats for a meal. I had the steak and eggs—sorry Morrissey—but they were delicious!!

Inland Empire Secret Bass Pond: New Hike-in Fishing Spot
Here's a new video from a secret spot I discovered, in the Inland Empire area of SoCal. There's a very large, deep pond with public access and clear water. I didn't catch a lot of fish, but I did see several big bass swimming near the shore.
