Snake River-Scenic Rafting (Jackson Wyoming)
Rafting the Snake River just south of Grand Teton National Park is a wild adventure we intend to have again. (GoPro Hero 3+)
Due to the fact that Snake River's headwaters form in the heart of the greater Yellowstone area, its northern stretches remain mostly Wild. Breathtaking scenery, abundant and diverse wildlife: both excellent reasons why you'll be hard pressed to find a superior wild river experience in the United States.
And for those of you who are looking for something more challenging, never fear. The Snake is dynamic, and along certain stretches and during certain seasons you'll find class 3-4 rapids.

Life vs. Death | Thrilling Snake River Whitewater Rafting | Adventure | Jackson Hole | Wyoming | USA
The Snake River is known for having the deepest gorge in the United States, Hell’s Canyon. This gorge reaches up to 7,900 ft deep at certain points. Boulders and rock slides have rolled into the river to create the biggest whitewater rafting rapids in the Pacific Northwest.
Traveling Through the Tetons
I finally leave Utah and head north stopping for a few days in the Tetons. It's still quite winter like here and I even experience a snow storm. My campsite is awesome with a full view of the Teton Range. I have a chance to explore the Teton area in search of wildlife to photograph.

2017 Wilderness, Sublimity, & High Water: Snake River in Hells Canyon
This video is a compilation of 2 trips on the Snake River in Hells Canyon in the spring of 2017 with Winding Waters River Expeditions (WWRE). The April trip is a high water scouting mission at 65,000 cubic feet per second (cfs).
In May, WWRE took Boyd Norton, an important figure in Hells Canyon's conservation history, down the Snake River through Hells Canyon. This trip was called Wilderness & Sublimity: Conservation of Hells Canyon and included 6 photographers, including Norton, to capture the beauty of Hells Canyon today. Here's a brief background of the trip:
In the late 1960s, the last wild, un-dammed section of Hells Canyon was under threat of flood by damming. Engineering field surveys and core sampling was underway and companies were in the courts trying to decide if the dam was to be run as a private or public corporation. During this time, photographer Boyd Norton ran the river by raft and took his photographs to the desk of Senator Bob Packwood, who was quoted as saying: Holy Smoke. Is this in my state?. Senator Packwood, astounded by the beauty and scale of Hells Canyon, led the charge in Congress to conserve Hells Canyon from damming. This conservation story is a testament to the power of photography and the importance of wilderness to our culture.

Grand Teton Adventure
Whitewater pioneer and personality Ken Hoeve, World SUP champion Annabel Anderson and friends travel to the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming where they’ll tackle the class II and III whitewater of the Snake River by stand up paddleboard. Although SUP is commonly known for its flat water and surf contexts, its evolution into whitewater rapids is a recent and uncharted path being blazed by this group of world class paddlers.

Travel Adventure: Grovont Range at Jackson, Wyoming
An hour north of Jackson Wyoming the world is untamed and almost uncharted. The Tetons rise in the distance as you push forward through lands as open as the world itself. The winter holds itself at bay for one short day as you climb on your ATV and explore the hills and meadows of this striking state.
For Bob Hatton and Ron Daveler, both residents of Jackson, that description is the image of the perfect day. They set out to ride the trails they love so much, but enjoy it in a new way, one that will lead them down surprising paths and open the world to their eyes...
