ETOPS SA 222 Johannesburg to Sao Paulo
South African Airways flight SA222, departs Johannesburg for Sao Paulo daily. The aircraft used is an Airbus A330, which is a wide body, twin engine aircraft.
The flight crosses the Atlantic Ocean and there are requirements for airline operators to fly so many hours away from an airfield. This concept is called ETOPS. ExtendedTwinOPerationS.

This is a short video establishing the fantastic air show that took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. The airport that this video was filmed in was Rand Airport situated very close to Or Tambo International Airport Johannesburg South Africa. The first couple of shots reveal Alexander Kohler and his cousin Timothy Kohler flying a small aircraft. Alexander and Timothy both do a complete somersault with their planes. They are both hoping to get their pilot license one day. The other shots reveal planes flying extremely fast and doing loop-de-loops in the air. There are even sightings of particular old aircraft such as a DC-3 which is still considered one of the most advanced flying aircraft of all time. In this film there are 2 DC-3s that fly around the airport. One of the best ones were the Boeing 737-200, the pilot flew super fast around the airport doing all sorts of amazing tricks. But if that were a commercial flight the pilot would have been fired. There were also some amazing shots of police officers that used police helicopters to catch the criminals. There is even a shot when a helicopter shoots the ground and big load of smoke was blown into our faces.

This video displays my first ever flying lesson at Rand Airport Germiston Johannesburg Gauteng South Africa. It took place in the year 2005 and it was my 13th birthday present. It was the best birthday present I have ever received from my dad and I loved every minute of it. We have a cockpit view of taking off and the take-off was a bit frighting because he gave power to the aircraft so quickly but I managed to get it into the air without crashing. The landing of an aircraft is very tricky and therefore the pilot that was training me landed the aircraft and I just rested my hands on the controls. I had a great time and since then I decided that I want to get my pilot license and fly light aircraft because flying is a huge passion of mine. The plane that I flew was a Piper 4 seater plane LGL and 4 years later I found it at Rand airport in 2009 after we watched the air show and it was awesome. I would recommend anyone to get their pilot license because it is an amazing sport and a fantastic way of looking at beautiful views. With 4 different runways (11, 17, 29, 35) flying to Rand (FAGM) is almost like flying to a new airport every time. I have not landed at 17, yet , but here are the approaches and landings at 11, 35 and 29.
Viking moved to SAA Museum - 2
KEMPTON PARK - THE SAA (South African Airways) Museum became one of three museums in the world to house a Viking aircraft this past weekend.
The Vickers VC.1 Viking was officially placed at the museum on January 22 after being transported from the OR Tambo Airport grounds, after sitting there dormant for many years.
The plane was loaded onto its transport on January 21 and then transported to the museum the following morning, escorted by the Gauteng Traffic Department.
