Turner Sports Car leaving the Turner Sports Car Rally, Bantock House, Wolverhampton
Rare vintage Turner sports cars headed to Bantock House in Finchfield, Wolverhampton for their annual rally on Sunday 23rd August 2015.
670 of them rolled off the production line in Wolverhampton in the 1950s and 1960's, a handful of the surviving Turner sports cars, their owners and enthusiasts from across the country met today at their annual Turner Sports Car Rally at Bantock House.
The marque was renowned for its great handling both on the road and the race track.
They were the last production cars made in Wolverhampton, around 670 Turners were built by Jack Turner (1916-2011). He initially created a few bespoke chassis at his family home before opening a factory in Merridale Street around 1953 which moved to Pendeford Aerodrome three years later. Production continued until early 1966 when the factory doors closed for the last time.
Turner sports cars picked up a number of prizes in motorsport competitions over the years, and were well known to 'surprise' the better known cars such as Lotus, MG and Healey, both on the race track and the road.
This is a short video I shot in black and white showing one of the cars leaving.

I sing in the morning - Salem Congregational Chapel, Ponciau, Wrexham (Compton organ)
Another of me playing the Compton electronic organ 'Cantata' model at Salem Church in Ponciau, Rhosllanerchrugog near Wrexham.
I am only an amateur and by no means a pro so wanted to point this out and hope you are still able to get the jist of the amazing skills of the John Compton Organ Company Ltd.
Im playing the welsh hymn 'I sing in the morning' to the tune 'Llys Aeron'. This gives an opportunity to show off the various different tone colours available on this organ including the effective Clarinet in the second verse.
The organ has both internal speakers and an external speaker of the Compton patent 'rotofon' type. In this video I am using the internal speakers only to contrast the other video I have made here.
These organs are fast becoming extinct with many churches replacing them with digital instruments etc. Modern technology is indeed appealing with its realistic sampled sounds but history is being lost as a result. Opportunities should be taken to see that these unique instruments are preserved for future generations to experience how technology worked in the pre digital era.
Many thanks to organist Gareth Williams for arranging me access to this instrument.
NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on youtube.
For more information on the John Compton Organ Company Ltd and to see me play other Compton organs, please click on the following link for my site dedicated to the John Compton Organ Company Ltd:
REQUEST: I am always on the lookout for Compton organs to play - particularly electrones - so if you know of any churches which still have these then please do let me know. I will happily give a donation or pay any applicable room hire charge.
