Breasthigh Road Aug 2015
The Lake District Land Rover Meet is a group of Land Rover owners that meet the first Wednesday of the month between 7pm - 11pm usually at the central location of The Beehive Inn, Eamont Bridge, Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 2BX. The Lake District Land Rover Meet is open to any Land Rover owner whether Classic or Modern.
We often have Series Is, IIs & IIIs, Defenders, Lightweights, Discoveries and the odd Range Rover turn up.
The group like to regularly go greenlaning and explore the variety of unsurfaced roads that the Lake District and surrounding areas offer. We aim to hold a monthly greenlane tour, navigated and led by experienced greenlaners and off-roaders. We can help with off-road recovery, driving technic, and essential off-road repairs.

BREASTHIGH ROAD
On Wednesday 19th August 2015, we met at The Beehive at 6pm (this allows for most people to get time off work to enjoy the tour as many people work weekends too). We had planned a route down the A6 taking in a few short easy lanes before tackelling the steep rocky mountain pass that links the A6 from Kendal with the A685 at Tebay. However due to the weather, we wanted to make sure we could accomplish the pass and not get stuck in the dark, so we drove stright down the wet A6 to the start. Considering the consistant rain, the ford from the begining wasn't too bad. We passed it with ease but we all got a good soaking in the misty rain. We continued up the bumpy rocky track. There were some trail riders that passed us at the start that we saw ahead struggling with a particularly slippy rocky section. After seeing one take a stumble over his handle bars, we stopped to give a hand. making sure they were ok, we struggled around the tight steep hairpin but with 4 wheel drive, all managed ok. The weather still lashing down, we proceeded cautiously down the eastern side. It was evident that the road wasn't a fan of the weather also and we did a bit of rebuilding next to a washed out drainage gully. When we got to the end at Bretherdale Head, we decided that the weather had beaten us and make haist back to the Beehive for a pint.
Still a fun adventure. Come and join us on our next one!

Winter Ride To Keswick & Beyond! Pt 1
Welcome to our ride to the beautiful Lake District town of Keswick. On this part we leave the beehive garage in Blackburn and head to Keswick via the M65, M61 and M6 motorways. We leave the M6 at junction 40 (Keswick & Penrith) and head along the beautiful A66 towards Keswick. Blencathra (Saddleback) and Skiddaw can be seen snow capped. After parking up in Keswick, we head to our favourite Fish & Chip shop/restaurant, The Old Keswickian for lunch. It was quite busy with it being half term holidays. Thanks for watching! Biker Paul & Lynn!
