Rainham Marshes in The First World War Documentary
The Rainham/Purfleet area has been in use by man since the days of the so –called ‘Cavemen’. You can see some of the petrified tree trunks still remaining today from a 6,000 year-old Neolithic forest, opposite the very northern end of Wennington Marsh, in the Thames foreshore. However, much of Rainham came to use in the last few centuries by the Ministry of Defence on Aveley Marsh; we investigated what archaeological remains of this are left with guests Luke Baker and Michael Clark.

ABANDONED ESSEX CHURCHES | BERNERS RODING
This is the first in a new series of short videos I have been filming recently, documenting my home counties abandoned and ruined churches. I plan to document those in other surrounding counties like Kent, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire in the future.
This church in particular is not far from where I used to live and grew up. I've known about it for years and hadn't been back in many years.
All Saints Church closed during the 1980's.
Deconsecrated in March 1985, the church dates from the fourteenth century, and was first mentioned in registers in 1538 and still has two windows of that age.
The church had a bell dated 1594 but this is long gone.
On the inside the wooden floor on which once stood the pews is rotted and cracked an sunlight streams through several cracks in the walls.
There is no stained glass and only two interior monuments - one monument is dated 1591 and 1593.
The pulpit remains, plus one stool and a kneeler. In the corner are rusting oil fires and an oil can.
Research on the internet suggest that a planning application for residential use had been submitted but might have been rejected - probably due to lack of road access.
The church and graveyard is now managed by Epping Forest Countrycare and had been owned by an un-named party since 2008.
Apart from that, there is very little information regarding this particular church.

Surrey ( SURR-ee) is a county in South East England which borders Kent to the east, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west, Berkshire to the north-west, and Greater London to the north-east.
With about 1.2 million people, Surrey is the twelfth most populous English county, the third most populous home county, after Kent and Essex, and the third most populous in the South East, after Hampshire and Kent.
Guildford is popularly regarded as the county town, although Surrey County Council is based extraterritorially at Kingston upon Thames.
Surrey is divided into eleven districts: Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley, and Woking.
The London boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth, and parts of Lewisham and Bromley were in Surrey until 1889, as were Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Sutton and the part of Richmond upon Thames on the right bank of the River Thames until 1965, when they were absorbed into Greater London, and the county extended north of the Thames by the addition of Spelthorne, as a result of the dissolution of Middlesex.
Surrey is a wealthy county due to economic, aesthetic, conservation and logistical factors. It has the highest GDP per capita of any English county, some of the highest property values outside Inner London, and also the highest cost of living outside of the capital.
Surrey has the highest proportion of woodland of counties in England. It has large protected green spaces (such as the North Downs, Greensand Ridge and related Surrey Hills AONB and royal landscapes adjoin it — Windsor Great Park and Bushy Park near the River Thames). It has four horse racing courses, and golf courses including international competition venue Wentworth.
Surrey is close to Heathrow and Gatwick airports and the M25, M3 and M23 motorways and has frequent rail services to central London.
